I am a Star Trek fan and I have pretty much every series and Enterprise doesn't count because of the design flaws and time line issues (please notice that the actual ship Enterprise is more advanced then TOS' Enterprise ship... also the technology in Enterprise is a bit more advanced then TOS).

What is my favorite captain, Kirk or Picard? I seriously wish people would stop asking that question because Janeway is the better captain and is in the best series. Being stranded in the Delta quadrant with little to no chance of getting home is better then going on deep space missions and limping home every time a pea gets chucked at you.

As for Star Wars, it's a dead franchise now and no crap remake (the CGI ones) are going to change my opinion about that.

I'm a trekkie through and through, I grew up watchting re-runs of the original star trek which they broadcast in the lead up to the opening season of TNG. I love the premise and the optimism, Gene Roddenberry had a dream, a dream of a future when humanity could overcome itself *cue cheesy music and a long gaze into the distance*

That being said, my uncle was a hardcore star wars fan and I watched episode IV V and VI on repeat for about 3 years.

I used to think I was evenly positioned between the two, that was until the day I found myself ranting about how "they just can't do that!" when Data was blown up in ST: Nemesis, feeling genuinely enraged (calming down only when I realised that of everyone Data is someone they can bring back, logically and with credibility) and yet not thinking the Phantom Menace was that bad, then I knew I was a trekkie.

I'd still love to be a jedi tho >_<

When you were ranting about that the Vulcans would say something along the lines of "Your logic is flawed, Data is an android and can be rebuilt"

Thats assuming his positronic brain was not destroyed in the blast, and that it could be located. Although I took solace in the fact that if they could resurrect Spock a viable plot device could be contructed to resurrect Data

Well first off don't bloody flame each other alright.

I like Star Trek better, for the simple reason that it seems slightly more realistic, although Humanity would probably not be the head of a Federation of Planets, more like the aliens from Independance Day(movie). And at least Star Trek is taking a chance by going back in time, don't mess with the classics some will say, well what possible harm could that do? I really don't like the original series because of the fact that i grew up with The Next Generation, Deep Space Nine, and Voyager, Enterprise was sweet(except that bloody opening credits music).

Star Wars is always the same, always always always, you look at the Empire under darth sideous and then you look at the republic from KOTOR, there is not that much of a difference here people, except for swords, because people will use a sword instead of a laser pistol. Plus theres the whole force thing, nice thought but it will never happen, same thing goes with light sabers. My opinion on remaking the original series: Wait until Lucas is dead, then go for it.
i agree, although out of all the Star Treks, i liked the prequel Enterprise best.

I think we can all safely say that Star Wars has produced better games (some).

As for the actual films, there's only 6 for SW and the only the first 3 were good (for their time). Star Trek wins here. Patrick Steward is da man.

The books I don't care about.

I do agree with the fact that Star Trek is superior in realism...
Star Trek? Realism? My friends with Astrophysics degrees would love to make you eat those words. Starwars was at it's best when it made NO pretesnes towards realism and was content being pure space Fantasy.
You do realize that Star Trek bases most of it's so called "Pseudo Science" on the currently known Physics of the times. During the early days of TNG they did a lot of research on physics at the time. I believe at the time String Theory was still a joke, and they generally stuck with Einstein's theories in general while using the idea of warping space to shorten the distance needed to travel from one location to another.

Also your so called friends with Astrophysics degrees aren't all that much more credible since these theories are just that, theories. Even if your friends are up to date with the latest happenings of M Theory they could still be wrong.

Star Trek was never meant to be 100% realistic. Star Trek is like Call of Duty where Star Wars is like Elder Scrolls: Oblivion. Just because Call of Duty doesn't have ultra realistic bullet physics and every single inch of Russia's past researched doesn't make it an inferior product.

Now please get off your high horse and stop faulting Star Trek for not being realistic when it really doesn't try to be entirely accurate.

Star Trek the Motion Picture sucks.
Star Trek: Wrath of Khan is pretty good, though overrated among fans.
Star Trek: The Search for Spock sucks.
Star Trek: The Voyage Home is pretty good, though only in a comedic way.
Star Trek; The Final Frontier absolutely totally reeks.
Star Trek: The Undiscovered Country is pretty good.
Star Trek: Generations sucks.
Star Trek: First Contact is pretty good, though only for an action movie.
Star Trek: Insurrection sucks.
Star Trek: Nemesis absolutely totally reeks.

(There's a kind of "Rule of Two" at work here: all the odd movies suck, the even movies are pretty good.
But Nemesis demonstrated that there is also a "Rule of Five" at work: all the multiples of five absolutely totally reek, even if they're also evens.)

So that's all of four movies that don't suck. And none of them really hold a candle to Empire.

I think I can agree with your rule of 2, but ESB isn't anything special. I see both SW and ST as the cinema equivalents of light snacks. Simple entertainment. Empire better than First contact? Only if I wear my rosy glasses of childhood memory. The Borg are much more menacing than storm troopers.

Star Trek has the funniest meme/photoshop images in the web, Kirk and Picard make quite funny faces.

Wait, what was the question? Oh yeah, none of them.

Yeah, Empire's combat scenes are definitely pretty crappy. Well, with the exception of Luke fighting Vader, perhaps. I think it's a much better movie in terms of dramatic content, though. First Contact was really trying to be an action movie and that's what it ended up being, at the expense of other elements of the Star Trek formula. Its two successors continued this trend but lacked whatever it was that made First Contact actually watchable.

Star Wars is greater, and I shall now prove it.

1. The superb dialogue and incredibly wonderful acting present in Revenge of the Sith. I am suprised it didn't get any oscar nominations.

2. Star Wars was the first mainstream film series to deal with the issue of incest [http://siblingkiss.ytmnd.com/].

3. The total lack of any plot holes. Darth Vader immediately recognized C3P0 as being his invention when strapped to Chewbaccas back, and in ROTJ Leia commented on how her mother always looked so sad, which she was for the 17 seconds before she died after leia was born.

4 The series taught us the word "No" [http://starwarsnoooos.ytmnd.com/] is very versatile.

5. Jar-Jar Binks

Also... (NOTE: prudish bosses might take offence)
