As far as I'm concerned it's still the best sofa-multiplayer console game that there is. Got a weekend off work coming up and I've already organised to have some friends round and run it through a projector.

There is one massive problem with it though, as the Imperial transporter is essentially invulnerable if the correct parameters are met, rendering any space battle hugely one sided, added to which the way that of course having four players on one screen means that everyone has a splendid early warning system if any trickery is afoot.

Here it is. It's terrible quality, but it's footage nonetheless:

Around 2:10 in say hello to the wilhelm scream

Also seems like theres a lot of new story being thrown in there which is nice. Plus kung fu master jedi is awesome!

It's my favorite Star Wars game along with Jedi Academy. And like that game, it's one that I keep coming back to.

To me those two games deliver exactly what a good, fun Star Wars game is supposed to deliver: pure, unapologetic fan service. It's like, "we know what you want, you want to be a badass Jedi, throwing Storm Troopers down bottomless pits, you want to be in the battle for Hoth and bring down those AT-ATs, you want to battle rancors and engage in speeder bike chases, you want to engage in a dogfight above a star cruiser and proceed to fly your ship into the hangar and chop things up, you want to be freaking Darth Maul! You know what! Wez gots it! Wrapped up in a nice little package"

To me, that's what Star Wars gaming is about, not too complicated, but enjoyable as hell.

I was playing this only yesterday!

I can only assume that the 3rd Battlefront is inevitable. It's just a matter of 'when'.

I loved Star Wars Battelfront 2
but it didn't have certain maps that were in the first game
such as my favourite - Rhen Var
God yes. My favourite level was the one where you start in the cave as rebels I think it was. Also, why did they have to change Geonosis? It was such a great map D:

OT: They definitely should make a third one, but polish the crap out of it. By the looks of it, make the sniper better. And please, please bring back all the great maps from Battlefront 1. Or at least change Geonosis back to what it was...

Edit: Oh, and maybe have some KOTOR-related maps/jedi/sith to play as?

It's best on the PC as the graphics are better and it adds a mode with twice as many people on the map. Awesome.

I loved that game, but it did have some issues. It was an improvement on SWBF 1 as the Jedi were absolute hax and couldn't be stopped in the first one. Plus the levels where you could pilot space ships meant that if you had a ship you were unstoppable since they were so strong and fast. I did miss some of the cool levels from SWBF 1 such as the Kashyyyk docks and Cloud city.

I also thing the Destroyer Droid was too overpowered. Ok it couldn't ride in ships or order troops or jump, but it was fast as hell, insanely powerful, and tough as old boots.
It was easy to kill destroyer droids. all you had to do was get point blank and keept on running around them. They can't turn fast enough to shoot you.

I heard the third one got axed. That might be wrong though. There was even a trailer out for it, let me find it...

Here it is:
I'm pretty sure there's no PC logo there at the end. I will murder a box full of kittens if Battlefront 3 is a console exclusive.
This one is fake, for the fact that Pandemic went under and that is, if memory serves, a teaser trailer for renegade squad.

This is from before Free Radical went under, it was a private showing at SkyWalker ranch, the game you see here went with Free Radical to the grave.

Unfortunately, it looks that SW:BF3 will be pulling a Duke Nukem for a while.

Ah, Star Wars: Battlefront 2. Good times. I remember when I first played it, I borrowed it from a friend and had it for over two months before buying it myself. He wasn't impressed.

I remember the space combat. Now that was pretty awesome, but we lost ships in atmosphere, which was also awesome. Some better maps from the first one too that we lost, but all in all, a good game none the less.

If there's one thing about the game that really annoyed me was when the enemy AI glimpsed you, they ALL attack you, regardless of difficulty, visibility, character classes on both sides, etc. They just decide to shoot at me with a shotgun from across the map.

Still, good times.

Yeah there was little tricks. They sucked at range, but were lethal in corridors. The AI never knew any tricks so would die in droves.

Admittaly I haven't read through the entire thread, so I don't know if this got pointed out already, but that's a trailer for a combined Flight/Infantry game, where both the space and the ground battles would be happening at the same time. It was a handheld, and many mistake it for Battlefront 3.
Well at the end of the trailer it brings up a pretty official looking screen featuring the Battlefront 3 logo and a load of company logos. Although, that would explain why the Pandemic one is on there when they're not involved with the game.
