This seems decidedly wrong. Darth Maul's mystique was, I assume, intentional, as he was a shadowy, silent warrior who represented a disciplined, obedient Sith apprentice. Also, if he had survived, even though you'd have thought that being cut in half, falling into a melting pit and breaking your neck on the way down would have done it, Sidious wouldn't have taken Dooku as his new apprentice, would he? After all, that wouldn't be the ONLY time that Palpatine settled for a cyborg as his apprentice (cough cough Darth Vader cough).
I liked one or two episodes of the new Clone Wars. Actually, just one. Rookies. Apart from that, well, it's crap. It rapes all established canon, introduces Ahsoka who may be the single most annoying character I've ever seen in a series (seriously, with her presence in the Jedi Order in mind, I felt suddenly far better when rewatching Revenge of the Sith when Anakin slaughters the Padawans. Just because she'll die too), and frankly ruins one of my favourite villains of all time, a Mr General Grievous. The concept of Darth Maul's pointless return makes me somewhat sad.
