I was expecting to hate it but I thought the Admiral Ackbar bit was fucking funny and I think the animation is actually pretty good looking.

Over reaction much?

If this was a third party who made this sort of spoof, you'd people would probably be absolutely fine with it - excited with it. Think Robot Chicken and Family Guy, only a dedicated series that also happens to be produced by a first party.

I can't say I'm super excited about this because it seems to be almost a comedy for younger audiences. But still. The over-reaction from the star wars fanbase is hilarious.

EDIT: I was gonna mention/find an article where Moviebob delves into this topic but I'm too lazy. needless to say he does. You should find it for me. lol.
You mean his remark on the dancing mini game? Yeah, if that had been a clear third party parody, people would have creamed for it.

It's not the work of a thousand muscular slaves to ignore that cannon remark (I'd like the source on that, actually) and with that in mind, this could be amusing.

Calm your passion, fellas.

That wouldn't have been so bad, if it weren't for the fact that I didn't laugh once. Is this going to be a television show or something?

I like it, I honestly really like it and I'm happy the Robot Chicken lot are doing this. Sure it's art styles not amazing but I think I'll adjust to that quickly and find myself laughing.

I'm surprised some people seem so angry at this to be honest.

Well I do like myself some parody from time to time, but it still needs to be good parody... this is not.
The worst part is this will have it's very own franchise sub branch with TV series and games included.

It's Star Wars. I'm sure there were people who got angry when Knights of the Old Republic was announced because it was taking place in a completely different era from the established one we already knew. People got angry at Anakin Skywalker being characterized as a pissy, angry teenager when his character was supposed to be at the age of being a pissy, angry teenager who had lived in slavery his whole life, and whose mother was still a slave after his own freedom had been bargained for. And then he watched her die in his arms. If that's not reason enough to be angsty, then I don't know what is.

Yeah, this looks like it's just Robot Chicken Star Wars: For Kids! so I don't see anything wrong with it. And it's not done by Lucasfilms. And it's not the worst thing we've ever seen happen to Star Wars.

Eh. it's not that bad... pretty much Disney meets Family Guy on a Star Wars set... occasional kid-friendly funny moments with a lot of padding (I say this after watching the youtube playlist [http://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL8BA6CF6978B4E2C1&feature=plcp]... the trailer kind of represents condensed padding).
Still, most of the funny moments just involve out-of-character application of cliches...

I've gotta admit, though... I find Obi-Wan as a dirty old man hilarious.

I dunno... I kinda liked it. I thought the Admiral Ackbar thing was hilarious and I had the giggles throughout the rest of the trailer after that. I'm gonna give it a chance cause I see potential here for a genuinely funny show. But who knows, maybe it'll suck.

Very true, it's interesting how much rage star wars can whip up in people especially if it seems geared towards a younger audience.

This is awesome and I am happy people are making it. The animation looks really good, and any of the parts with Obi-wan were just hilarious. I couldn't stop laughing the first time I watched it, and now it's making rounds with my friends.

Seriously people, stop being so serious. If you liked Robot Chicken's star wars parodies, then you have like, no reason to not give this a chance when the actual show comes out.

Oh, and also, I don't think this is aimed at younger kids. At least half of the jokes will only make sense to older fans who know the details of the universe, hence the parody aspect. The art style is just colorful and silly to go along with the style of humor.

I'll admit, I found a couple parts of that funny, even if the rest was overwhelmingly stupid.

But the only thing Star Wars that I managed to give a damn about since the original trilogy was Battlefront, so I really don't give a damn how much they want to fuck with the rest.

Ugh, I hate the animation style, but I find some of the humour funny. I stopped taking star wars seriously a long time ago (In a galaxy far, far away....)

I don't care that it's a parody, despite the fact that there have been millions of those through the last 30 years. I do care that the animation style is unappealing and, more importantly, the humor is awful. The thing that makes a comedy good? Being funny, which this is not. It's awkward and I really don't see the point of it being in the Star Wars universe. The characters are so generic that this could be set anywhere, so why there, except to make tired Star Wars references? But I'm judging just based on the trailer and clips, we'll see how bad it gets when the show airs...whenever that is.

That's because self-parody doesn't work all that often.

In total this made me chuckle three times. Ackbar (yes, I know), the two Stormtroopers flying across the 'chasm' and Ben Forcing that laugh. But mostly it's just...meh, it tries too hard.

It essentially plays out like a more toned-down version of Robot Chicken Star Wars. It's funny enough for me to keep an eye on it, even if I probably won't watch it very much when it starts showing.

I don't get why people are so pissy. Why is Star Wars the only franchise that isn't allowed to self parody?
Because of how painfully unfunny it is? It wouldn't be bad if it wasn't for that.
