I choose a rainbow lightsaber.

Yes, it's probably not possible but admit it, you want one. It would be effective just because your enemy would burst out laughing.

Yes, because there are lots of girls out there who are extremely attracted to men with black lightsabers.

My mate told me that Mace Windu had a purple lightsaber because he trained in the combat style of the Sith, but was still a Jedi. Blue + Red = Purple.

I saw online some place that he went to some really dangerous snow planet or something and found the crystals there. Or they could of been a reward for helping out villagers on the same planet.

For millennia, the Jedi Order lit lightsabers in every color and hue imaginable. However, following the Battle of Ruusan, the hues of most available crystals had been limited to either blue or green. Lightsaber color crystals could also be compressed, resulting in a pulsating blade, or they could be unstable, resulting in a core which swirled and sparkled. The following is a list of all known blade colors.

* Amber
* Aqua (Galen Marek's modified lightsaber)
* Blue
* Black[5] (White w/black core)
* Blue, Dark (such as Anakin Skywalker's lightsaber, Kenobi's Legacy)
* Blue, Icy
* Blue, Jade
* Guardian, Blue (Ultra saber product)
* Bright Gold
* Bronze (B'nar's Sacrifice)
* Bronze w/ yellow core (Heart of the Guardian)
* Brown
* Clear (Barab Ore Ingot)
* Crimson (such as Adi Gallia's lightsaber in 32 BBY)
* Cyan
* Cyan w/ silvery glow (Mantle of the Force)
* Emerald (such as Jacen Solo's lightsaber before his ascension to Sith Lord)
* Gold
* Gray
* Green
* Green, Dark
* Green, Jade
* Green, Light
* Consular, Green (Ultra saber product)
* Indigo
* Lava (Lava crystal)
* Magenta

* Orange (such as Kyle Katarn in 10 ABY or Freedon Nadd)
* Fire, Orange (Ultra saber product)
* Pearl White (Krayt Dragon Pearl)
* Pink (Bane's Heart)
* Rainbow (Shifts through the color spectrum)
* Red (Darth Andeddu's Crystal, generic Sith/Dark Jedi lightsaber)
* Red, Blood (Qixoni)
* Red, Dark
* Red, Light
* Reddish-purple (Lambent)
* Blazing, Red (Ultra saber product)
* Silver (Durindfire)
* Silvery-blue
* Silvery-green (Viridian crystal)
* Adegan, Silver (Ultra saber product)
* Teal (Sunrider's Destiny)
* Violet (such as Mace Windu, Anakin, and Jaina Solo's lightsabers)
* Violet, Dark
* Violet, Light
* Viridian
* White
* Yellow
* Yellow, Dark
* Yellow, Light
* Yellowish-green
* Yellowish-orange

It was on one of the "behind the scenes" things with the making of the movies (epII methinks) that it was the Jackson man wanted a purple saber.

Anyone decide on those obscure, secondary colors they featured in KOTOR2?
Like viridian and, of course, the classically plain and pure white.

Black...light?
Nnnngghhh...whoa, that's tripping.

Edit:

Here's an idea.
For the online KOTOR, they could, for the Jedi classes when constructing your lightsaber for the first time, allow you to customize your very own color instead of the given presets.
For example, they could have sliders for the shades and hues and such.
(Commission requested if my brilliant idea is implemented.)

Edit:

Actually that's incorrect.
Red is specifically aligned with the Sith because (I read somewhere that) red crystals are produced synthetically and not traditionally sought out and found in crystal caverns as Jedi would do.
It signifies the whole "Sith are the easy path" tenet: they go for the quickest way in achieving their ends, instead of the more correct and moral way.

Why.. Why yes.. I /am/ awesome.

To clerify on the last point. A lightsaber is an expression of a jedi's individuality and not all Sith choose black. Indeed some choose orange, bronze, pink, etc. It is mostly choice, and a symbol of accomplishment as other colors other then green and blue are not as easy to get your hands on.

I must say I was partial to the teal(?) lightsaber in KOTOR2. I think it was teal, light blueish. Viridian was a cop-out though, just looked like a green crystal that'd been through the washing machine.

Do they have to represent anything?

That's what I fucking hate about Star Wars franchise. How, in the end, it's almost always Good Blue against Evil Red.

I don't personally see how colour of one's weapon has to represent anything in any way. I see nothing impossible in Jedis with red sabers. Or sith with green ones.

Hmm. I guess I really can't contribute here.
The rebel alliance's ship shot red lasers and the empire green. Not sure how that factors into the equation.

I would totally have a purple saber too. Although, I noticed in KoTOr pretty much only Sith had purple sabers.

And if you look at the extended universe, it wasn't until Luke's Jedi Academy that they figured out how to make lightsabers that have variable blade lengths (which actually works in their benefit in one fight).

I thought that those were dark jedi, not sith. Before anyone asks, yes there IS a difference.

Did you know they did not decide mace windus saber color right away? they didnt know which color to use so they just did the scene with what ever and Samuel jackson said he liked the purple, it gave him his own uniqueness
And it looked badass.
The lightsabre did not make Jackson look badass... Jackson made the lightsabre look badass.

Actually I believe Wookieepedia mentions Rainbow.'
http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Lightsaber_crystals

It shifts through the color spectrum. As for me, I'd have to go with either Violet or Silver.
