No one is forced to use a lightsaber, or any other trappings of the Sith. The only requirement is the Dark Side of the Force.
Do they have to be a Sith Lord because I don't see my guy wanting to be at the forefront of...anything really. He'd want to stay in the background.
The quiet manipulator can still be both Sith and Lord while remaining quiet.

How you do it is your own affair, it doesn't really matter to me yet. But you do have to be a Sith, and you're either an aspiring Sith Lord or someone's henchman, and any Sith content to be anyone's lackey is no Sith at all.

it may be a dumb question.

Can the length of a lightsaber be chosen? like shorter or longer than normal?

*Nerd response

There are three ways to accomplish this. Dual Action lightsabers (used by vader and dooku) can actually get longer or shorter as the master wants it to, usually with a normal and an extended setting. However, there is also the shoto saber, which is just a smaller lightsaber. My recommendation however, and this is totally up to you, would be to use the Lightclub. Which is basically a giant fuck-off lightsaber the size of a person. http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Lightclub

Other fun alternates include a lightsaber pike ( http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Lightsaber_pike ), the saber cane (basically a hidden blade in a cane) ( http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Sabercane ), and possibly the single most suicidal weapon in all of fictional history, the lightWHIP ( http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Lightwhip ).

Name: Zada

Gender: Male

Species: Zabrak

Age: 24

Appearance:
He is a subspecies that is all black with green pupils. No hair on his head at all the spikes cover his head in half inch spikes with a 2 over his temples 3 times that in length. Standing at just over 6 feet and just under 200 pounds he has a large upper body with a lot of strength in it and his lower body isn't lacking either. He wears half calf boots with flame and electricity resistant pants and jerkin. He also wears hooded cloak with armored lining and inner pockets. Usually carrying a staff with larger mechanical ends.

Possessions:
Armored lined hooded cloak.
vibro boot knife.
6 foot phrik quarterstaff with short blades that could extend out either side at the touch of a ring on the shaft.
2 days worth of rations in a belt pouch.
a blaster with an under barrel grappling shooter.
Date-pad with hacking software.

Skills:
Quarterstaff master; he first was taught and mastered the use of a quarterstaff then was given a lightsaber pike to learn how to use a staff with a blade on it then went back to a quarterstaff with a short blade on either side.

Biology of Death; He was forced to study where the best spots on thousands of different creatures for the best or fastest kill.

Fighting focus; he has focused on straight fighting and is very good at it. His double ended light staff making it hard to come close or attack him back. He is not nor does he have any training in assassinations.

Languages; He knows only galactic common and zebrakian

Force powers: weak
Force throw; he can grab and throw something using the force. but so far nothing more than 10 pounds.

Force lightning; He can call force lightning into being but not enough to shoot out. It spreads over his hands and discharges into the next thing he touches.

Personality:
Surprisingly normal for someone who follows the dark side of the force he can even be pleasant and happy to others when talking, on the outside. Inside he is a ball of hate and murderous rage that always fights to get out and kill any and all who have ever slighted him in any way including those imaginary.
he does not care about being subtle and will throw himself full blown at any obstacle in front of him until he is through or finds an easier way around.

Backstory:
When young he was raised much like other Zabrak and hunting, tracking and killing were all apart of it. Remembering very little of his youth he was captured by a slave trader and then sold to an underground fighting ring that used their slaves as fodder for their exotic wild animals and more experienced fighters. Thrown into a cage with wild predators he used the training from before he was taken as a pit fighter to use the quarterstaff they gave him to its full effect.

After a year of surviving he was scheduled to be killed in a very gory fight between a dozen different animals. He had been given lessons on how to use a quarterstaff after surviving so long, and he used it in that fight to great affect to distract or attack animals in that final fight of his. Just as he was about to be killed between the last 4 animals he felt a burst of hate that swelled inside him and came out as a pressure wave that slammed the animals against the sides of the cage. Force sensitive he quickly killed all the animals then turned his attention to the only other thing in the stadium that felt dangerous. A hooded and cloaked figure that stood in the middle of the crowd watching the fight had shown new attention when it was shown the fodder had been both force sensitive and had a deep rooted murderous rage that would not subside.

That figure had offered him freedom from the cage and the opportunity to gain the power unimaginable. Taking it without hesitating a beat Zada followed the man out and away. 15 years old at this point the sith master who took him told him that he was to old, and that if he every showed that he could not do it he would find a lightsaber in his skull before he finished the action of failure. Following that master for years it was shown that he could not assassinate well because he became to angry to focus on the silent kill and would rage through the target and all who were around. He had the death points on creatures from all over pounded into him and the use of a specialized lightsaber staff that could be used as a normal quarterstaff when not in use. He mastered how to turn the blades on and off to slip past guards and make fighting him as hard as it can be. The master he had focused more on fighting than the force, not teaching much about it before he was killed. Zada escaped from the jedi that had come to kill them both, but his master was not so fortunate and died in the fight.

and here we go.
its been a long time since i saw star wars.

Name: General Zorin

Gender: Male

Species: Gen'Dai

Age: 623

Appearance: The Gen?Dai race is largely formless, a mass of muscles that are controlled by one central head, that is vaguely human-like though contains a mouth of razor sharp teeth, and wing-like ears. General Zorin is no exception to this, though his Gen?Dai appearance is very hard to ever come across. This is because he, like many other Gen?Dai, lives in a suit of armor designed to give him a human-like appearance, and to hide his true nature. Gen?dai lack many of the weaknesses that most organics face. They have no distinguishable organs, aside from a brain, and even that is stretched so long and far that it could hardly be described as destructible. They also have massively powerful regenerative abilities that often surprise opponents. These two factors often surprise the opponents that General Zorin faces, assuming they can even get far enough to discover them.

General Zorin?s body armor is really more like a metal-power suit. It has its own controlled environment, which pumps in oxygen for him to breath, and it also contains all but one of his weapons. The suit itself is very bulky in stature, standing at least twelve feet tall. It is mostly black, with red joints and a dark purple visor. The suit?s feet are clawed and the gauntlets Zoren wears are spiked. In reality, the suit is a modified Telgorn Mark VI Powersuit, and like other suits of a similar nature, this one comes equipped with a blaster cannon, a massive blaster designed to be put on speeders. This is aimed with Zorin?s force abilities, though he can also use the targeting system the suit comes with if need be. The suit?s primary function, aside from hiding Zorin?s true appearance, is to enhance his already advanced force abilities. The Gen?Dai have amazing sensory abilities, rumored to be capable of detecting a heartbeat from hundreds of meters away, and nowhere is this more true, than on the force-sensitive Zorin. Zorin?s suit is specifically modified to interact with the force, and while it is a prototype with some kinks to work out, it turns Zorin into an even bigger threat on the battle field. The only other useful feature on the suit worth mentioning is its projector shields, which are laser shields that outclass most of the typical shielding units worn by people on battlefields. These can be activated in specific places in order to block lightsaber attacks, though they can?t hold a Jedi back forever.

Possessions:

Zorin is gadgety, he wields a lightsaber, but it isn?t his only weapon. In fact, Zorin is known to be very capable of using a variety of weapons, and his power suit is very good at carrying a massive amount of weapons.

Lightclub: Zorin doesn?t just use a lightsaber, he uses a giant lightsaber bigger than most people. The blade when slashed vertically, is famous for disintegrating targets, rather than simply cutting them. This weapon is not to be taken lightly, and while he is very effective with it, Zorin does leave himself weak on the defensive side when using it, a weakness his power armor does slightly make up for. The crystals used for this lightsaber are all a deep red and match the red on Zorin?s suit.

Zorin?s Powersuit: While the hard details are in the appearance section, every weapon that follows is inside the suit. The Lightclub is specifically carried outside of the suit. The suit itself carries ammo for every single one of the weapons involved, and is capable of cycling through them, though the blaster cannon is shoulder-mounted and takes more time to take out and aim.

Flamethrowers: Dual wrist mounted flame-throwers are Zorin?s first go-to weapon when dealing with Jedi. Most simply find their robes caught in a blaze of murder and are unable to deal with it. Sucks to be them, Zorin supposes.

Deck-Sweeping-Blaster: Dual wrist mounted scatter guns designed to clear entire rooms. These don?t necessarily kill everyone they hit, but it?s impossible to block or avoid a shot from one of these in close quarters. Very deadly under the right circumstances

Carbonite-ray: While not as powerful as some droid-occupied versions, Zorin?s suit is capable of firing off a beam of carbonite at foes. This is also famously impossible to block with a lightsaber, and must be dodged. If struck, the opponent finds themselves quickly encased in carbonite. Not a fun weapon to be caught in.

Electro-nets: Dual wrist mounted electric nets that are also used in the fight against Jedi. Getting caught in this makes it very difficult to move, and of course will stun someone without armor on, armor significantly reduces the effectiveness of this weapon.

Blaster Cannon: ?Is that a speeder gun?? Yes, it is. Zorin?s suit has a coup-de-grace that allows him to bring out a very powerful laser blaster in close quarters. This will blow holes in ships, blow holes in people and blow holes in the dirt. Blocking this is not recommended, though a lightsaber can mitigate a large portion of the damage this weapon causes.

Skills: Include Force Powers.

Gen?Dai physiology: Zorin is capable of healing from almost any injury outside of being blown to bits. Even cutting him in half wouldn?t permanently disable him. Zorin is massively strong and has great acuity for his surroundings. Simply put, he is very hard to kill and does a lot of damage.

Zorin?s force powers are mostly physical, he has spent a very significant amount of time perfecting his force agility, which is the skill he mainly uses in battle. Zorin also is a master at controlling his breathing, mitigating his own pain and inducing massive pain in those nearby. He lacks any form of Sith Lightning, finding it less effective than his weapons. Zorin can use force-push, but not to the same level of finesse that a master might have.

Personality:

Zorin is known for his lack of caution in battle. The Gen?Dai runs in full bore and if he finds something worth killing, he smacks it with his Lightclub. He has no interest in dying, and definitely craves power and knowledge. Part of him using his knowledge, is his recognition of his own physical abilities, and as such he is very confident that he will win any battle he faces. Zorin is not blood thirsty, though he does get a kick out of killing. He prefers to gain power by the only way he knows how, gaining respect on the battlefield. To Zorin, everyone is just playing at war while he moves to gain power from within.

Backstory:

Gen?Dai live basically forever. That is what many say, and it is mostly true. Some Gen?Dai have been alive since the time of Revan due to their regenerative healing abilities, but they also could never hold a conversation. This is because Gen?Dai can not heal their brains, so when their minds degrade, they permanently suffer from it. Most have some degree of memory loss, and many have massive fits of psychotic rage that can not be held back. Zorin does not fit in any of the following categories. Relatively speaking, Zorin is young in the Gen?Dai community, and while many young Gen?Dai focus on knowledge and pacifism, Zorin seeks to gain knowledge through power. He recognizes only his superior genes and once he discovered that he was also force sensitive, nothing could stop his path to infinite knowledge. Perhaps he would find a way to stop his own brain from aging along the way. Zorin would rather be dead than live in a haze, forgetting everyone he ever knew. It is partially true that Zorin seeks his own death when he fights, though when push comes to shove the Gen?Dai will always choose life over death.

Zorin is currently a General in the Sith armada. He has been in countless battles and his intelligence and wisdom gained over hundreds of years has proven invaluable to the Sith armies. He specializes in ground fighting, as his ability to pilot vessels is lacking. Known for leading the charge from the front lines, Zorin is also known as the suicide-chief, as he expects his own warriors to follow him into these mad charges. Many do not make it out, but Zorin always has. It is unknown how many Jedi have fallen to Zorin?s rampages, but it is likely in the dozens. His limited control of the force has kept him from achieving Dark Lord status, but if you ask him, Zorin will always say that it?s only a matter of time before he breaks that barrier too.

I couldn't resist the club. It also let me make a Gen'Dai something I have wanted to do since the Clone Wars mini-series came out.

...no. This is actually the only sheet that I am rejecting out of hand. A nigh unkillable superman with a laundry list of unblockable attacks? Are you serious?

He is shit in long range combat, and is shit at dodging. Basically a full frontal aggression character with a fuck ton of stopping power behind him. Yes, most Jedi will have a serious problem in dealing with him, as his kit is basically 100% anti-jedi. It is not anti-infantry or anti-tank. For reference, look up Durge or Grievous from the Clone Wars. A Jedi could probably handle him without his armor/weapons pretty easily. Also, he would be weak vs a character like Dooku or Sidious who could simply stay away from him while abusing force powers. Any methods of disabling his suit would pretty much leave him trapped in a big metal coffin, and he also wields what is effectively a greatsword. He also is about as subtle as a brick to the face and is very easily noticed. I wouldn't call him overpowered, just different. As for the regeneration, I am pretty sure almost every single sith/jedi packs force healing, which can do everything his regeneration does and more. He is a Jedi with bounty-hunter gear. I am fairly certain I mentioned his lack of proficiency in his lightsaber as well, which is problematic when one is facing Jedi. He isn't unstoppable, just scary, which I think is appropriate given the baseline power you set. Also, he lacks any utility force abilities and is fairly haphazard. He punches things hard and that's about it.

You carry deck sweepers and a blaster cannon. You are absolutely anti infantry and anti tank, and short of incinerating him he is unkillable. My decision stands.

The Deck-sweeper is basically asking to get your ass shot by everyone in the near vicinity, seeing as its effective range is 5 meters. The Blaster Cannon requires set up time and has a reload speed. Neither are super great vs infantry. He is about as unkillable as any other Jedi, who block basically fucking everything you send their way without even trying. His kit is designed to exploit Jedi weaknesses while not getting insta-gibbed in the process.

Actually, let me list a few of the ways some other Sith characters could beat him. Right off the bat I can think of a couple.

1: The assassin uses undetectability and then disables Zorin's suit. He is now trapped and can be thrown out of the airlock. If on the ground, well he is out of the fight and pretty much a fancy statue.

2: His suit is destroyed. Almost all of his weaponry is gone and now he is stuck with a big ass lightsaber that he isn't even that great with. He is relying on his Gen'Dai physiology to not just die at this point. Most Jedi have the gear to basically end him at this point.

3: Big ass fucking explosion happens. Not even a Gen'Dai could survive that.

4: He is stunned by a fuck ton of blaster shots to the broad side of his anything. Then someone goes ahead and tosses him out the airlock. If no airlock is available, they can probably just light him on fire.

EDIT: For further reference, this is a Gen'Dai. http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Gen'Dai
