Any second now, they would close their pincer and trap the Endeavor in their firing arcs. Three. Two. One. The Star Destroyers turned inwards, guns blaring.

"Wok'la, now! Reorient to 70 Degrees!" Dipping the port flank, Reah's view tilted with the ship. The star destroyer on the left was now running perpendicular to them. She smiled. "All batteries, concentrate your fire on their turbolaser batteries and bridge deflector shields. Slag that ship!"

On the starboard side, the ventral hangar was neatly facing the opposite Destroyer. With Y-Wings flooding out of the flank Hangars, the Breaching pods were loaded at the bottom, ready to fire. "All Marines, prepare to board. Fire on my mark......FIRE!"

Wolk'a stopped his work on the broken turret, and ran to a computer on the wall.

"Take 50% power from engine systems and reroute it to the turbolaser banks, now!"

"Engines reporting," head of engine team stated over the Comm, "We doubt we can give you much power."

"Take it from the kitchens, non-emergency lighting, anywhere that isn't vital to this battle," Wolk'a said in frustration, "We need the power NOW."

Wolk'a saw the power levels of various departments go down except in shielding and other weapon systems.

"Wok'la, now! Reorient to 70 Degrees!"

"Engine teams, you heard her," Wolk'a said as he felt the ship move.

"All batteries, concentrate your fire on their turbolaser batteries and bridge deflector shields. Slag that ship!"

Wolk'a grabbed his atteneas, as the turboblasters took aim.

"All Marines, prepare to board. Fire on my mark......FIRE!"

"You heard the captain," Duval called to the pilot again, "We've been given the go order. Repeat, we've been given the go order."

"Aye, aye ma'am," the pilot replied before nervously cursing under his breath before starting up the breaching pod and taking it out of the hangar. Once they were out of the hangar and heading for the enemy destroyer the pilot tuned in to the mercenary channels, "This is the Hull-Crackers, we're making a straight run for the nearest enemy destroyer. Requesting cover, for our approach. Repeat, this is the Hull-Crackers' breaching pod making a run for the enemy vessel requesting cover."

"All right men," she bellowed over the noisy inner-workings of the aging breaching pod, "We've got our mission: get in, find and take out the target of opportunity, sabotage their power supply systems if we can, and bug out. I'd tell you that this isn't going to be easy... but given our battered state, I'm sure I don't need to remind you. I'm not going to give you the usual b.s. about 'holding the line' or 'not one more...' whatever the hell it is this time. No. We have a job to do, and I'm sure everyone here is looking forward to some shore leave after this. We all deserve it after what we've already been through on the Endeavor. However, that only happens if we survive this. So, I want everyone watching each other's backs, I want everyone radioing in. The home team - that'll be holding the escape route... you're the Home Run. The Primary Strike Team is to be referred to as Ice 9, and the Secondary Strike Team will be referred to as..."

Duval trailed off for a moment to allow Set to come up with a name for his squad.

The cockpit of Prax's cockpit was being bombarded with a multitude of sounds. Space was a vast, silent ocean, and on peaceful runs the Nautolan preferred to turn off the audio built into ships to simulate the sounds that sapients were used to. It helped him to relax. Though, this wasn't particularly a time for relaxation. Chatter was coming in on all channels, leaving him quietly wishing he had a means to mute the pilots from other squadrons. He nestled down into his seat and buried an eyeball into his targeting computer. The E-Wings had top of the line software, allowing him to observe the bogeys in exquisite detail. Embossed against the nebula, a single silhouette was desperately swooping away from the frantic fight behind it. With the rest of Wayward laying so strongly into the bombers, this fat little target was all his. Prax peeled away from the dogfight and charged after it.

A flurry of whistles and chirps from his astromech raised several concerns. Prax just smiled a weary smile. "Calm down, Tobee. I know we haven't got all the kinks worked out yet. But you'll mesh with this bird just like the old one. Give it time."

The Commander had no need to openly voice the little nibble of fear underneath his calm exterior. There had been a few hiccups in his software on the first few test flights. This would only be their third combat mission. An R2 unit wasn't built for an E-Wing, and vice-versa. Familiarity with the droid took precedence over a seamless integration with the snubfighter, as far as Prax was concerned. He just hoped he wasn't staking his life on that familiarity.

His nimble E-Wing came up close behind the bumbling TIE as it swerved to escape. Prax chuckled as he recognized that it was attempting to get on a line back towards the Star Destroyers. "Ah, ah, no you don't."

Prax cut his ship into a tight turn. His personal trimmings on the software left him with a ship much more suited for maneuverability. It was almost depressing watching the TIE as it tried every flip, spin, and trick to escape, all for naught against the superior fighter. "Come on Tobee, ain't right making a man suffer like this. Finish him quick."

The astromech agreed, albeit a little begrudgingly. The targeting computer finally got a lock on the right side of the ship. Prax's finger hovered over his trigger for just a moment, then clamped down. Two quick sprays of red light filled up their little corner of the sky and slagged the bomber. Only a misshapen hunk of molten metal was left in the instant before it detonated in a burst of shrapnel and combusting gases. Prax gave a silent wish of prosperity for the soul of the man he'd just murdered and swerved back towards the battle. "Give me updates, everyone," he requested. "These Imps giving us any trouble?"

"Most polite guests we've had in months, sir," came the impetuous call of Wayward 10. "Not a lick of trouble."

Ontil beamed as he dove into the fray once more. "Fantastic. In that case, use the soft-toed boots when you kick their sorry rears off our porch."

Ah, but enough of that noise. There's fighting to be done! The charge had begun with the Destroyers trading fire while Kevin maneuvered around anything that was closer to them than the actually hitting the Endeavor, eyes practically glued open as self-preservation translated into keeping them alive and on target. As soon as the order to blast away at fighters came in, Niko was already on it.

Niko: Number Two, focus on drilling into incoming groups and taking out stragglers. Three to Six, I want a blanket of suppression fire for anything trying to get past us.

For reference, Number Two refers to the one turret NOT located in the dorsal section of the Dauntless Rex. Drilling into TIE formations before they break off usually yielded a fair percent of pilot casualties simply because the attack is mainly visible to the guys in front and less in back. Firing on stragglers also rattles them up as well. Three to Six were the pod-mounted guns, currently being used to establish a sifting net of turbolaser hell. They didn't even NEED to be accurate when there was only so much maneurabillity in a TIE and so little time. Total destruction wasn't even necessary, since they only needed these things to be blown off course and unable to complete their mission. TIEs didn't even have their own life support, so they're pretty cheap. Oh, and if you're wondering about Number One? Main dorsal turret, used by Niko exclusively. He tended to do well with the turret-using driods Marcus programmmmed. They even cut out automatrically if a marked friendly got into their field of fire.

Kevin: Umm, guys? The Destroyers are turning!

Masan-Ru: Excellent! Prepare to follow through with the maneuver as planned!

Marcus: You're really getting off on this, aren't you?

Masan-Ru: Oh yes!

The Endeeavor now tilted towards the left Destroyer and the Rex moved with it so as not to get on the wrong side of the action. It was first left, THEN right, so when the order to take out the Destroyer came, they had focused gunfire from the Corvette's back on the bridge shields while Niko exclusively pinpointed enemy turbolasers and fired, one after the other. Masan-Ru loved it, though it was a shame he didn't get to fight this round. Perhaps there'd be some insurrection needed on one of the Destroyers later.

"Follow me in!" She gripped her stick tightly, staring out the viewport at the incoming tide of TIEs, her finger poised on the switch to even out her shield. As the two swarms of fighters closed on each other, long-range scythes of green and red energy began lancing out of the two legions, a few fighters blasting apart but most able to dodge or absorb the long range fire.

"I've got a malfunction in fire-" The panicked voice was cut off with a wail of static that sounded too much like a scream for Mira's comfort.

She gritted her teeth and focused, and a heartbeat later the advance was over and the furball had begun. Mira snap-rolled onto her port wing, coming around and squeezing off a reflex shot that sheared off the upper half of an Interceptor's wing. The craft spun out for a second before the pilot could get it under control, only for a second burst to reduce it to little more than a spray of slag.

"One on my tail!"

"I've got him, Nine!"

They didn't have to win this fight, they just had to hold down the enemy fighters long enough for the Y-Wings to make their attack runs. But frak that. Target rich environment - one advantage they had. The sheer numbers of the TIE horde would keep them tripping over themselves, a target rich environment where most of the targets you couldn't shoot. Same principle as an Ackbar Slash, really.

"Impatient: Master, there is little I can hit from this position, perhaps if we moved closer?" I5 spoke from his console, manually controlling the Wanderer's one large turret, practically lashed onto the ship's engine.

"You'll have your chance to shine, I5." Just as Gareth answered, the Endeavor started its attack run, tilting to the side to slide between the Imperial Star Destroyers. "In fact, here's your chance. Moving alongside the attack bombers. Ted, prioritize covering the bomber squadrons, I5, let that cannon roar."

Wolk'a looked down the broadside line Endeavor after the barrage hit. Seeing the blast on the Star Destroyer was an amazing sight. Wolk'a however, wasn't looking out the view windows. These guns were not built to take that kind of power, as Wolk'a could see about half of the still functioning guns had either broken down, were on fire, or just exploded. Worse news was coming from the various sub-departments, it would take some time to recharge the power cells to those sectors. Thankfully, none of them were combat critical, but it just added more on the list of repairs that cannot be done by Wolk'a beaten down repair. Wolk'a turned to his com as he ran to help the fire suppression teams.

"Captain," Wolk'a said with the same flat radio voice but eyes quickly blinking in anger, "We only have a fourth of the guns on the Port side in working order, and we drained a lot of power to do that shot. Any further engagements should be made with the starboard side's guns exclusively. We need medics down here, several of the guns exploded."

The bridge shook violently. The blast dampeners on the windows kicked in, dulling the energy flash as the ISD returned fire. The Endeavor continued to tilt further, until it was fully perpendicular to the Destroyers. The starboard guns began to fire, ravaging the ISD's port broadside and leaving a trail of destruction across the primary superstructure.

The tactical officer continued to relay damage reports. "Our last barrage crippled their port broadside, and their shields are down. The Destroyer is turning to present its shielded starboard."

"Don't give them the chance, lieutenant," said Telani. "Once they reach the apex of their rotation, I want every gun we have firing on their engine array. That will leave them sitting ducks while we mop up. Jevan, what's the status of our Boarding party?"

Jevan checked the tactical display for the hangar launch tubes. "All platoons are ready for launch, captain."

"Then let them do what they do best."

Ice 9 collided with the upper superstructure towards the bridge section, while Set Team slammed into the Destroyer behind the starboard turbolaser array. The entry hatch opened in a wave of smoke and sparks. They were in. Already the alarms on the Star Destroyer were alerting the ship to the intruders. Another phase in the battle of the Medara Nebula commenced.

Veering into a reverse pinwheel maneuver, he brought his fighter around and let loose with a quad of laser shots. Still, the sheer numbers being thrown at them had guaranteed several starfighters had broken through the screen, and entering the scrum match. The Squints bolts began lashing out above and below his fighter. If one hit an S-Foil he was done for.

"I repeat, to anyone out there, I've got three on my tail, I can't shake'em!" said Devin, beginning to panic. Blast it, someone, anyone, hear him. He dropped into a straight dive over the Star Destroyer coded D2. The breaching pods had already struck, but the point defense lasers were still firing. Unlike the Squints, the fixed gun positions on D2 gave Devin more mobility as he could predict their patterns. The Squints would have to back off to avoid being shot by their own ship. It wouldn't keep them off for long, but it could buy Devin some time for help to arrive.

"All right everyone," Vora bellowed over the loud crackles of the plasma cutters breaking their way through the enemy's hull, "Get up and get ready to breach!" She quickly unstrapped herself and got out of the seat, donning her battle helmet.

"You all know your assignments," she continued, heading for the door, "Once we breach, secure the immediate area and teams Ice 9 and Set will proceed with the mission. Good luck in there."

Vora took the time before the plasma cutters finished their work to check her blaster rifle and armor, before making a quick and discreet inspection of her troops. Everything seemed to be in order. At least there was that.

Two E-Wings pulled away from the slugfest up above, giving the Imperial bombers a quick reprieve as they moved into formation with Prax. "We're here, Commander. Let's toast 'em."

E-Wings weren't as fast as the nimble little interceptors. But they weren't slow, either, and their maneuverability was indispensable. Three snubfighters came down in a trident pattern. On order from their Commander, they linked up targeting computers on the rightmost Squint. A hostile flare of red light pumped through its fragile hull, too wide of a spray to dodge at such close distance. In an orange fireball it burst apart, not emitting so much as a pop in the vacuum of space. Their fire concentrated on the leftmost interceptor, and then the remaining one in the center. In short order they detonated just like their comrade, leaving Devin freed up.

"Got 'em off your tail, Glaive 2. Happy flying out there!"

The E-Wings broke away before the Star Destroyers could get a bead on them, zooming back up to their assigned task: bomber duty. Prax let his squaddies back to their previous flight patterns, listening to Wayward 6 continue to rant at his rookie wingman. "You keep twitching right when you pull the trigger. Either steady yourself, or start pulling left when you shoot..."

Prax payed them no mind right now. He was back to business. Things were going relatively well up here. No casualties to speak of, and the Imps were being shredded. Truth told, it made him a little nervous. The curious whistling of his droid caught his attention. "Wha?... eh, it's nothing, Tobee. Just a little prickling in my gut, that's all. Feels like things shouldn't be going quite so easy, ya know? I'm almost waiting for a Death Star to pop out of hyperspace. Like I said, it's nothing. Let's get back to it."

Picking a target, his E-Wing sped into the fray once more. There were still enemy bombers in the air, and that meant Wayward Squadron hadn't done its job yet.

One thing at a time, Devin told himself. "See anything promising, lead?"

Set had himself strapped in, his weapons close at hand for when the inevitable jolt hit. And hit it did, his wattle sent jiggling despite the inertial whats-e-whoosits.

"Once we breach, secure the immediate area and teams Ice 9 and Set will proceed with the mission. Good luck in there."

"No need to remind us, Miss,"Set said as he pulled out his weapons from their places on his body,"Set team, we're in first, get ready to kill some Imperials, last time around they didn't have that great of aim."

He waited a few heartbeats before heading to the front of the space bullet and slamming through the door onto the hangar, where a hail of fire greeted him, most bouncing off his dura-armor or missing completely. Set ran through to cover, a stack of boxes nearby, where he gathered his bearings, firing off a few shots, most killing or at the least hitting their targets.

"Come get me you Imperial pricks! Already plowed through ten other ships of you white-masked freaks!"

Vora signaled for her men to surge into the hallway entrance directly opposite the pod's cracking point. They did so, pouring red twangy death as they went. No losses so far. The defense teams quickly got the surviving stormtroopers pinned down.

"Defense teams, stay put. Ice 9, stick close to me and advance," Vora called out over their channel as she started to go forward, tossing a flashbang at the enemy just before turning on the light dampeners in her helmet. She took advantage of the confusion she'd created to take shots at the nearest three enemy troopers. Resulting in one fatal headshot, and two shots to the knee that sent them sprawling onto the floor. Vora quickly double-tapped both of the unlucky troopers as she took cover behind what looked like an imperial vending machine. (had the sigil, and seemed to be selling mock uniforms wrapped up in plastic and candy with names like 'Kessler's Darth Chocolate bar' and 'Maul's Pieces')

She signaled for her team to join her in nearby cover positions as she laid on some suppressive fire at the troopers further down the hall.

During the battle in question, the Dauntless Rex had taken its share of Imperial fighters to the grave or knocked them off course...consigning them to probably a slow death in space without hope of rescue. Space was mmerciless that way, as was Masan-Ru when he was on the warpath. At the moment, he was not pissed at anyone in particular. The plan was actually working quite well. It was now high-time, though, to get their own place in the sun underway. A little adlibbing, one might say, as the Ex-Imp scientist announced that he was ready.

Marcus: I have programmed the vectors and sent them to your stations. Can you do this?

Kevin: Uhhh, yeah. I think I can.

Niko: I'm sure I could get that firing pattern working.

"Then your captain gives you the go. Engage the Lateral Scar."

The Lateral Scar was a term Masan-u used to state his wish to cut a swathe of destruction across a larger vessel using all available weapons at every pass. The ability to swiftly cut across the top, bottom, or sides of a vessel with turbo-lasers firing away was the beauty of a Corvette runner like this, and so the Rex got a'moving. Over the lip of the turned Endeavor it came, using the firepower their ally was deivering as basic cover to approach from over the left flank, effectively on its side. It was still over Endeavor's fire, so it wasn't in the way of anything. The forward guns aimed and fired down at set gun defenses first, then rolled so that the top of the Corvette was facing downward at the enemy Destroyer to allow the top-forward and the back-mounted guns to fire down at it massively. Then, as it was closer toward the back, Kevin twisted around so that five guns were able to focus on the tower, forcefield generators and control bridge. The sooner that stuff was disabled, the better.

Gareth saw the Dauntless Rex make its attack run, and felt like they were on to something. "Ted, how much of the Endeavor is going to be exposed if we break formation?"

The droid calculated for a few scant seconds before responding. "If our original position is left within firing range, then we will only lose 18% coverage."

"Good enough for me, we're following the other guy in, finishing off whatever he doesn't. I5, re-prioritize." Gareth turned the ship to follow behind the Rex, its main gun blasting at the weak points that the Lateral Scar opened up. However, a moment of relief at the sight of the damages was shot down when a thunderous shudder resounded throughout the ship.

"Alert. Breaching pod detected, hull pierced on Deck 2, cargo room, aft section." Ted rattled off the damage report with in a monotone, with a hint of annoyance, but it didn't last. Suddenly, Ted spoke again, this time with more urgency. "Alert. Breach is within striking distance of the central computer. If the computer is destroyed, all systems not routed through the auxiliary processors will cease function."

"Damn. I5, get down there and stop those troopers!" The IG nodded as he hopped out of his chair and ran down the hallway, the captain could swear he saw a skip in the assassin droid's step. "Ted, what systems can we backup if the main computer goes down?"

"Only life support and necessary evacuation electronics are run by the auxiliaries. In this situation-"

"I know, I know!" Gareth swung the Lone Wanderer back into position by the Endeavor as he thought of a contingency. "Go down there and assist I5. G4, take over control of the weapons, main gun included." It was risky running shields and all the weapons through the astromech, but Gareth was willing to sacrifice efficiency if it meant his ship wouldn't be torn apart from the inside out.

After shooting out one more curse, Gareth flipped on the comlink to Endeavor Command. "Endeavor Actual, this is the Lone Wanderer, I got a breach on my ship and need to clear out the Imps before I can get back in the fight. I can keep screening fighters, but more are going to get through!"
