The bridge shook violently. The blast dampeners on the windows kicked in, dulling the energy flash as the ISD returned fire. The
Endeavor continued to tilt further, until it was fully perpendicular to the Destroyers. The starboard guns began to fire, ravaging the ISD's port broadside and leaving a trail of destruction across the primary superstructure.
The tactical officer continued to relay damage reports. "Our last barrage crippled their port broadside, and their shields are down. The Destroyer is turning to present its shielded starboard."
"Don't give them the chance, lieutenant," said Telani. "Once they reach the apex of their rotation, I want every gun we have firing on their engine array. That will leave them sitting ducks while we mop up. Jevan, what's the status of our Boarding party?"
Jevan checked the tactical display for the hangar launch tubes. "All platoons are ready for launch, captain."
"Then let them do what they do best."

The breach pods fully loaded, the New Republic Marines felt the ground rumble as the repulsor fields moved their transports into their firing tubes. An experimental design based on the hull cracker insertion pods used by CIS forces during the Clone Wars, breaching pods would be fired like torpedoes at their targets. A set of penetration charges strapped to the nose of each pod would blast a hole into an enemy ship, embedding the pod in the hull, allowing troops to disperse.
The two lead pods, Ice 9 and Set Team, were the first into the launch tubes. Every trooper waited with anticipation, clenching their restraints. The countdown started. 10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1. Launch. The troopers were pushed back into their seats by the sudden rush before the Inertial compensators kicked in. The two pods were soon joined by the rest of the assault team, streaking out across the distance between
Endeavor and the Destroyer below. Screaming through space, glimpses of the ferocious space battle raging around them passed by in seconds.
An automated voiced spoke across the comlink. "All hands, brace for impact, I repeat, all hands, brace for impact."
Five seconds later, the pods struck their targets. Ice 9 collided with the upper superstructure towards the bridge section, while Set Team slammed into the Destroyer behind the starboard turbolaser array. The entry hatch opened in a wave of smoke and sparks. They were in. Already the alarms on the Star Destroyer were alerting the ship to the intruders. Another phase in the battle of the Medara Nebula commenced.

Devin pulled his X-Wing into a corkscrew, managing to confuse the Squint's missiles into colliding. Veering into a reverse pinwheel maneuver, he brought his fighter around and let loose with a quad of laser shots. The Interceptor's cockpit was vaporized, leaving the angled wings to trail off wildly into the abyss. That was one down, three to go. And they were gaining.
"Glaive Lead, this is Glaive 2, need support!" he shouted into the comlink. The squints were faster than he was, unshielded, perhaps, but far more crazy as well. With three of them on his tail, it was taking every ounce he had to stay out of their firing arcs. Sooner or later he'd slip up, and then it was a 50/50 chance that he'd be vaped instantly, or see how long he'd last without air.
Things were slowly turning towards the Republic's side. The Corvettes were running interference and drawing the fighters away from
Endeavor's squadrons, letting them hunt down the bomber wings. Still, the sheer numbers being thrown at them had guaranteed several starfighters had broken through the screen, and entering the scrum match. The Squints bolts began lashing out above and below his fighter. If one hit an S-Foil he was done for.
"I repeat, to anyone out there, I've got three on my tail, I can't shake'em!" said Devin, beginning to panic. Blast it, someone, anyone, hear him. He dropped into a straight dive over the Star Destroyer coded D2. The breaching pods had already struck, but the point defense lasers were still firing. Unlike the Squints, the fixed gun positions on D2 gave Devin more mobility as he could predict their patterns. The Squints would have to back off to avoid being shot by their own ship. It wouldn't keep them off for long, but it could buy Devin some time for help to arrive.
