You stand in an ancient crater, a small piece of strange technology lying at the centre in front of you. A light flicks on, the motion sensor embedded deep in the old supercomputer detecting your presence. You move closer, and a woman?s voice starts to speak calmly.

Hello and welcome to StarCommand?s main chamber. Here, in this room, is where the leaders of the various races that populate the galaxy meet to discuss politics. The gravity of the words that pass the lips of those who speak here is appreciated by all, as the slightest slip can cause an inter-solar war.

######################

Indeed, welcome to StarCommand. In this RP, the players (You, among others) take the roles of the leaders of the various races during the galaxy?s golden age. History is yours to make. The most primary threat is the other players, and their fleets. However, mysterious threats from deep corners of the galaxy are awakening.

Right, with the introduction out of the way, I can get to the actual game play.
As it says in the title, this is a strategy RP centred on commanding fleets of ships. These are ships you will produce using money at your planets. The game is divided into turns, which will end after everyone has posted their orders, or after 24 hours.
I?ll divide the specific parts into different headings

[HEADING=2]Ship Combat [/HEADING]
Combat will be handled in a very hands-on way.
Fights will happen in rounds, with each round ending either when all commanders involved in a battle have posted, or after 24 hours. Your post during battles should include:
An In-Character section where you describe the orders given to your ships. This can be done from the perspective of anyone involved in the battle.
A Summary of your orders put in a spoiler box, to make it easier for people to get at the actual orders you have given.

After the round is over, I shall put up a post describing the state of the respective navies, and starting the next round.

But, how do you get those pretty ships that shoot shiny guns?

Well, that falls under?
[HEADING=2]Planetary Management [/HEADING]
Each planet has 4 slots on it for buildings, and you start with 2 planets, and two buildings on each.
There are 4 building types.
Automated Foundries generate money, and can be upgraded to increase production.
Inter-Solar Trade Centres increase income from trade, and can be upgraded to increase income even more.
Spatial Dockyards produce ships, and can be upgraded to reduce production time.
Galactic Laboratories Research new Guns/Hulls/Shields, and can be upgraded to increase research rates.

[HEADING=3]Producing Ships [/HEADING]
You can give planetary orders every turn. These include producing ships. You only start with two hull types available, Cruiser and Scout. Scouts have 3 slots for weapons and shields, but are faster. Cruisers have 5 slots for weapons, and are your battleships at this stage of the war. They will take a certain amount of money and turns to produce.

[HEADING=3]Research [/HEADING]
You can choose to research one of three paths, Guns, which will unlock new big weapons you can stick on your ships. Hulls will give you bigger and better types of ships. Shields will unlock more powerful shields with which to stop your ships being blown up.

[HEADING=3]Outfitting Ships [/HEADING]
Each ship has slots, which you can fill with weapons and shields. A small shield generator takes one slot. A weapon takes one slot. They do stack.

[HEADING=3]Trading[/HEADING]
You can start up trade routes with other civilizations, which will increase both civilizations revenue per turn.

Finally, A sheet template:
Name of Commander:
Name of Race/Civilization:
Ship Design: This can be in image or word form. It will just make describing the battles more interesting for all. Separate designs for each hull type.
Background of Race:
Background of Commander:

Alright, let?s make inter-solar war!

Not sure if I'm going to participate yet, but I'm bumping this so that more people will see it as I think it could be epic if it got going.

Name of Commander: Kayat.

Name of Race/Civilization: Unggoy

Ship Design:

Background of Race: A short, methane breathing species, who have just recently mastered space travel. With the success of the first of many Colonization Missions, an Unggoy named Kayat has been appointed by the Council on the Unggoy homeworld on Mestosia to be the Supreme Commander of the fledgling Unggoy space forces.

Background of Commander: Kayat, son of a reknowned Military Commander, has been recently appointed as Supreme Commander by the Unggoy Council. Leaving his home planet of Mestosia, he is on his way to the new colony of Seferis to survey the situation and get the Unggoy race ready for space exploration.

Will this do?

Name of Commander:Birras
Name of Race/Civilization:Birrans
Ship Design:

Background of Race:The Birrans are a sect of humans led by a mysterious man known as Birras. They orginally were slaves of another race, but rose up in heated rebellion. Over the past 200 years, they used the captured technology of their former masters and the genius of their leader to get them where they are today.
Background of Commander:Birras orginally masterminded the rebellion 200 years ago. Many people belive he uses a cloning system to forever rule his people. He was a reluctant overseer to the mines, being forced to brutally beat his own people. Some say this turned him mad, others say it made him see the light.

EDIT:Oh dear, when I originally skimmed through the OP, I missed the bit about the hull types. Rectified.

*polishing B.A.S. Hiroshima* Come now, surely someone else wants an out-of-the-box space strategy RP! Are you going to let the flagship of the Birran fleet gather dust? If so, then you are bad. And you should feel bad.

this seems interesting i'll rustle something up
commander name: suubu
race name: tacaga
ships:
cruiser:
dreadnaught:

race history: The tacaga are an oxygen breathing species who were enslaved by a species called the sarajan. The sarajan spread them out between their worlds and the tacaga learned of their technology. The Tacaga succesfully rebelled from their slavers many a century later as the sarajan had grown complacent. They claimed most of their old masters and began to set up communications between their planets.

commander history: Suubu was the leader of the rebellion on their homeworld of Miir and when the Tacaga had set up their empire Suubu was named Grand admiral.

Edit: i should've read the other guy's bio first apparantly he had rebels to.. oh well..

Perhaps you could have both been enslaved by the same race? It would be more interesting and make for a fun first contact.

You both have elegant hull designs and laser weaponry, it could work.

If you are willing to accept someone who has never actually RP'd before i'd like to join.
Name of Commander: Richard Garrett
Race: Human, Named Kull

Ship Design:
<spoiler=scout>http://media.moddb.com/images/members/1/276/275572/puddle_jumper.JPG This is of course minus things like a cloak and drone weapons. The Kull still utilise solid ammunition in all their vessels

<spoiler=cruiser>http://www.stardestroyer.net/Empire/Essays/StarDestroyer.jpg

Race background: A very militaristic race, the Kull have only recently developed interstellar technology. As such, their ships are somewhat primitive. Their first action on the galactic scene was to conquer their neighbouring planet of Arcadia. Another human race. They are completely intolerant of aliens and have a firm belif that it is their destiny to rule the stars.
Commander background: Garrett first came to attention of the Kull high command for his actions in the assult on Arcadia. The commander of a fighter wing, he was responsible for destroying key enemy sattelite installations. Since then, he has risen through the ranks rapidly. He has shown a keen tactical mind and has been earmarked for a position in the admiralty. He hates being called Richard.
