Just hurry up and use your multiple millions of dollars to fund a CGI StarCraft movie, Blizzard. This is a thing that has to be done because of reasons and you know it!

While I agree with your observation, why not just attack the pods? Or Land the Vikings behind the tanks to mow down zerglings?
Vikings are dreadful on land. Even un-upgraded Zerglings would made short work of them. That Viking was clearly Bronze League.

I'm still debating whether or not I should buy Heart of the Swarm, I like the base game but I've never really gotten into the multiplayer so I'm not sure whether or not it's worth my money.
I would argue that, save for a few select people, Starcraft is not a very compelling single player experience. The storytelling is...uh...questionable, to say the least. And the old-school base building RTS doesn't make for terribly engaging game play when pitted against an AI. If it were a $10 game I'd say go for it, but it's not, so...

However, depending on your reasons for not enjoying the multiplayer, I'd recommend giving that another shot. SC multiplayer is amongst my favorite experiences over 30 years of gaming, and I'm no pro. It's a beautifully balanced game, with fairly simply unit lineups and controls hiding pretty amazing depth. It's a game I find rewarding to learn and play.

I recommend Total Biscuit's "I Suck At Starcraft 2" channel if you want to see some videos of a player with average skill, explaining some basic mechanics and having fun without necessarily being elite at the game. [

quote="DarkhoIlow" post="9.399210.16363037"]I have no intention of playing the multiplayer because I can't see myself microing and macroing units skillfully so I'd rather not do it.[/quote]

And that goes for you too, I guess. The matchmaker is actually pretty good at pitting you against appropriate challenges. If you're no wizard at macro/micro, you can rest fairly assured the guys you play against will be just as handicapped. Bronze League games can actually be incredibly entertaining, as they're full of wild experimentation. If it's not for you, it's not for you, but don't get intimidated off it by reputation. If you can play the campaign, you can compete in MP.

Loved the nice touch with viking pilot where he franticly shoots the ground before aiming properly. I know I would squezee the trigger as much as I could If I saw that monstrosity coming.

I will surely pick this up once we have a resonable deal.

As usual Blizzard proves that they should just let their animation department make feature-length movies in their spare time. That shit would be awesome...

From the StarCraft Wiki
The ultralisk is a 20 meter long and 5 meter high living battering ram
Those looked a might bigger than 5 meters. Tanks are supposed to be able to take those things on, not get suck to the bottom of their feet.
Those could have been Omegalisks instead of an Ultralisk.

Starcraft (or warcraft) has never made sense proportion wise.

In game no unit can run over anything, an Ultralisk can be blocked by zerglings.

Plus blizzard can always claim the zerg evolved the ultras to be bigger
This is for you http://i2.minus.com/idKJOHIciRf0E.jpg
Take in mind that the top and bottom part are not the same scale.

Also: 1:44 - Wilhelm Scream.
Heh, I noticed that too! Spot the Wilhelm scream is my favorite movie/trailer/video related game.

Actually, I'm in the same boat as you. If I buy it, I'm buying it only for the single player. The multiplayer match making system gave me a coronary, I am not that competitive.

Though, I read that they were thinking of unnerfing Terran Reaper Rush, which doing al- in cheese like that is really the only way for me to enjoy SC2 multiplayer.

They're actually introducing an unranked match-maker with HOTS. Might be a little less competitive.

I've got to stop watching game trailers. That just made me want to go and buy it, despite never playing any other Starcraft games. Is there any required reading from the earlier games, or is it not so story based?

Yawn

1: Starcraft 2 is already old, I never play it anymore and a few new units and changes aren't going to change that.
2: I don't buy Blizzard games anymore. Will take a lot more than an expansion to an RTS I don't play to get me back.

The Reaper is basically a completely new unit in HoTS. Its usefulness is no longer solely for early game harrass and actually has some stayin power all the way till mid-late game. Im sure someone with extraordinary macro/micro will be able to use them even in late game.

Echoing what people have said; Blizzard rock at CGI trailers, to the point that I would love to watch just a compilation of them all.

But I've grown out of Starcraft. It's too much about reaction times, actions per minute, less a game of chess and more a boxing match. I've long preferred Total War, but I do love the RPG feel to the Starcraft single player...Hmm, I will probably buy it, but I won't go much into multiplayer.

I know that I'm buying this, I had a massive amount of fun with WOL despite the fact the escapist(by which I mean Yahtzee) don't seem to be the biggest starcraft fans. I still can't understand the stupidity of the people not buying this game because of Diablo 3, besides the fact they are completely different teams making the games it is dumb to never buy a game from a company agian because they made one bad game.
Nintendo made the virtual boy LETS NEVER BUY FROM THEM AGAIN!!!!

Rest assured then! They still do that.

They just can't explode an expo in 3 seconds while doin so.

Ahh, I can put my few cents in. Very well could be an Omegalisk, a bunch of them, a particular type of Ultralisk which is basically motha-fuckin' huge.

OT:
I've seen the trailer for or five times now and I fucking love it. Viking was badass, but stupid. In general, Hooolllyyy shit give me that game right now. I play competitively, too, and beaten campaign multiple times. So gorgeous.

I thought their damage against bio was dramatically lowered? They seem more like hyper-aggressive/mobile scouts now than anything.

It was actually completely removed. The don't have any bonus damage of any kind. However they have a tech ability that heals them 2 health a second if they're not hit for 10 seconds makin them disturbinly good at hit and run tactics, even in mid game. They also have 10 more health than their original counterparts and, while slower than their upgraded Wings of Liberty counterparts, don't have to tech to go full speed and just start off goin fast and have a shorter build time by...I think 5 seconds?

Don't require the tech lab any more, either.

They really did lose a lot of damage though. Previously a single Reaper could absolutely decimate a mineral line. Now they have to be back there a while to do serious damage.

The new peon roaster is the Oracle.
