Second Murder:
The night was long for most. The murders had kept some of them awake. Sure, fighting an enemy was dignified. They would fight for human survival, for advancement or maybe to protect the little ground that the humans had. This had little dignity. Stabbing a friend in the back, someone who you fought next to. Three people were dead and all because of one bastard, G.H. That Ghost had what was coming to him. The next day most people seemed less cheery then usual but glad to still be alive. So much crap had been flung at them and they?ve managed to beat it all off.
Corporal Caliber didn?t want to cry. It was daylight and she was outside doing repairs to the generator. The backup one had gone down a few nights ago and she wanted to make sure this one was working well as the other was o the blitz. Everyone else had their own things to do and was too concerned in their own matters to be wondering outside here. ?No one?s her, I don?t think they?ll see,? she thought to herself. A little fact was that she had worked with the Firebat before and Alpha and her were good friends even if she didn?t let anyone know. She wiped away a small tear and started to get back to work. While everyone was arguing when Alpha had died, she sat away. She didn?t want anyone to think she was weak or anything.
Suddenly a hand struck her on the shoulder.
She jumped slightly. She turned around to see the man that had approach her, he was leaning over her on the generator.
?Why the hell do you sneak up on people like that!?? She shouted.
?Whoa easy there. I thought you might have been sad,? said the man.
?What!??
?You?ve been crying haven?t you??
?Why would I?? she said with anger in her voice.
?I knew that you two were close. I think most people saw it, but everyone was too busy trying to catch the arsehole that did this to Alpha to notice you. Look, it?s always sad to lose somebody that you cared about. There?s no shame in crying over that.?
?Look, if you tell anyone about this, I?ll make sure that you will never talk again! You hear that??
The man backed away a little bit. The corporal?s fiery attitude was defiantly not just a rumor.
?Sure,? the man said walking away. ?They?ll never find out.?
The man disappeared around the corner. She sighed to herself. He was right; she did have feelings for Alpha. She turned back to the generator and noticed the explosive device planted so carefully there. The killer?
?Shi??
A loud roar shook the base. Suddenly the power blinked off! Everyone knew the generator had been hit. The sun wasn?t down yet so they could see what was going on. They all rushed to the side of the base were the generator was now in two pieces.
?Oh crap,? said Kurt with a bottle of vodka in his hand.
2nd Lieutenant Inglis stood over the chard corpse. ?It?s probably Corporal Caliber. She was working on the generator at the time. We better do a medical check to make sure; her front has been completely stripped away. Sgt Flaman, take her to Larenxis at once.?
Rob Inglis said as if taking care of the situation.
?It looks like an accident. The generator must have overheated and blown,? proclaimed C.P.L sitting by the pieces looking at it.
?No. We failed. It wasn?t G.H,? said Jason Val.
C.P.L got up, ?How do you know??
?I know my generators. If this one had overheated it would have just sparked a lot and made a really nice fireworks show, not completely have destroyed it. It has backup fuses and fans so no way could that have happened. Caliber had also a basic working of this; I made sure of it before she touched it. This was no accident.?
?You mean that the killer is still alive??
At that moment they had all realized something terrible, they had just killed an innocent man. Jason was right, this was no mere accident, and the killer was still at large. But for now they had a bigger problem, they had no power and the night was closing in.
Rules: Yeap, you guys were wrong about G.H being the killer. So now it?s that time again to vote. This time I tried to do something different from the normal rules and introduced?
Scenario 1:
The generator?s been blown. Now you have to find out some way to fix it or somehow make a new one. There?s a backup generator that shut down a few weeks ago. No one bothered repairing it because the current one was in full working order, but that?s gone out the window. Maybe someone with electronic skills might be able to patch it up. Or maybe the docking bay, full of unused vehicles could be useful. It?s gonna get cold mighty quick.
