Dirty thirties would allow for a Valentines Day Massacre lynch of some sorts and a whole mess of hooliganry. Bioshock would give us a lovely setting and but the plasmids would be impractical to manage in an RP. It's been suggested that we do a KotOR-themed one but again, you've got plenty of people with magical powers floatin' around.

You're got a point but just because it's Star Wars doesn't mean the PCs have to be Jedi. It's probably easier to say no Jedi PCs and save yourself the bother.

I've never played KotOr but I know my Star Wars. That could be pretty good. But like Saskwach said, no Jedi's because they could easily read the killers mind. Unless the killer was Sith! Dun dun dun! Oh, I just gave it away. I guess we could have a group of all intern Jedi's if that's the case.

I like the Bioshock idea. It should be set pre-chaotic destruction. Maybe the time when plasmids were in the air and all was fine bar a few minor phycho's tearing people to pieces. Perhaps the killer was a smuggler working for Fontain? If we do the Bioshock one it would make it easier if the building was cut off from the rest of Rapture via leak of something so there's no escape.

The gritty 30's noir would be very nice as well. If so, shotgun mob stooge... no wait, journalist trying to get the scoop... no wait, prviate eye detective. So many nice choices.

This is geting a bit see-saw, just pick something and go with it.

Fleshing out themes:

Dirty Thirties:

Chigago; Prohibition Era; Al Capone's rivals. Archetypes would be something like Rain said, stooge, reporter, undercover detective, young conscript from the streets, civilian caught in the wrong place at the wrong time. Pretty much anything would work. Setting qould be something like a dockyard or some form of building under seige by the cops.

Bioshock:

Will have to be pre-riots to make sure plasmids aren't abused willy nilly. Like Rain said again, random building is cut off from Rapture and growing tensions make repairs impractical. Archetypes would be average workers, some on Ryan's side, some on Fontaine's, maybe a researcher or two, or even an artist or mechanic. CIA or KGB undercover agent would fit in pretty well too.

KotOR:

Setting could be pretty much anywhere that's isolated. As long as you don't have jedi mind reading shenanigans then it'll work out fine, you could be the local one-legged drunken son of an electrician and it'd still make sense. We'd just need to decide on a planet (any could do). Frankly I think one o' them undersea bases on Manaan would be nice.

Zombie Apocalypse(my personal favorite):

Setting would be obvious; a mall in a small town besieged by hordes of slow yet belligerent zombies. People who sign up but don't post are assumed to be eaten by zombies. You'd have a diverse group of archetypes to pick from, just no trenchcoating. The strain of a zombie outbreak would make pretty much anyone unstable enough to kill and you could do one of the murders by letting in the undead for a bit.

The zombie thread could have some of the following characters:

-Man unknowingly infected with the virus (chosen at random)
-Scientist responsible for the virus (maybe chosen at random as well)
-Rescue workers sent to save those in the city, but tragically and ironically stranded as well
-Journalist
-Cop/Detective
-Military Personnel working to cover up the whole mess (chosen at random, the killer)
-Steve (He's a dick)

Etc. There's a wealth of characters. You can have possible psychopaths, infected, and numerous others that can add to the tension. This thread idea could seriously work, and work effectively.

Hey, remember any zombie story needs to have a priest. An italian priest.

Why not have a sort of Aliens RP? Having to find the traitor in your ranks while trying to survive the alien horde seems like a great experience to me. Also, I guess I would like to try this RPG out as it does seem to be like reading a book.

The only rule for Aliens is that no one ever utters 'Get to the choppah!'. Enough people do that on Zombie Panic Source already.

Then Father Italiano must then either a) 'save' the infected with bullets and pointy crosses or b)start a new cult among the survivors and cause a slow descent into savagery a la The Mist.

Zombies without a doubt and count me in. Will the mall be mapped, outlined or imagined? And why no trenchcoating? I love trenchcoats.
I'm thinking that maybe we should have a dedicated RP ideas thread instead of piggy-backing of an old RP. Are we happy here or is this a good idea?

I can sole all our problems

Bioshock zombies!
A experimental plasmid turns people into zombies. The infected area is locked down by Rapture control using genetic locks that will only turn off when no plasmid lot 862 is present. Lot 862 (contagious zombie plasmid) was made by fontain futuristics and was intended to boost strength, agility, smell, hearing and be reproducible by the human body. But it slows leg movement, shortens eye sight and degrades mental ability. It is a hybrid ADAM/Bacteria virus. Then in the end only makes zombies.

People- cops, norms, fontains men/man, scientist working on lot 862, scientist sent in to figure out what was going on and when they did order a lockdown. One of Ryan special agents, and big daddy/little sisters from the lab (no playable)

So what do you think, pretty god eh? Purple would need to work out the kinks, but other than that it gives us everything we want zombies, dirty thirties, Bioshock.

Yes but no KotOR. Let's go over this: You're a group of Jedi Knights sent down to... A bit of a mix and match eh?

I like the Rapture one because you could be so creative with the deaths. Sick a Bigdaddy on them (Would you kindly-) or the security system or even cover them in Bees!!
"Bee-have yourself!"
"Don't Bee a bad boy!"
"Hmm, plan A didn't work. Let's go to plan Bee!"
"Where are you? I bet you're Bee-hind the wall!"

I also like the zombie one. I'd like to play as a fireman. I have an axe and a fire mask as well as thick clothing and a helmet. Seriously kitted out for a zombie holocaust.
