Starving your wife

Just ahead of the Afghan election, Afghanistans president Hamid Karzai has apparently approved legislation Allowing men to starve their wives if they do not agree to sex at least once every four days [http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/south_asia/8204207.stm] amongst other things. The wonders of democracy...

Apparently Hamid is one of the "good guys". Someone we put in power after tossing out the Taliban. This move is clearly to keep the muslim fundamentalists on side for the election which he sees as more important than international approval or the rights of Afghan women.

Following this, should allied forces still be in Afghanistan helping to keep this man in power? Should financial support be pulled? One of the reasons given for removing the Taliban was the mistreatment of women and now Hamid is upholding the same values.

What are your views?

I think that, in a democracy, people vote for policies.
I think that, in a free world, you can't force one country's ideals onto another one.
I think that, if he's elected in by the Afghani people, Allied forces should help keep him in power, because that's what they're there to do.
I think that, if they came to England and did it, I would personally kick them off a pier to float home, but they're not in my country, we're in their's.

I dunno, Muslims really seem like the attention seeking religion. They seem to want to blow everything out of proportion at any given chance of publicity.

there can be a lot of difference between what is hypocritical and what is dispicable
