The Steam Summer Sale just started a few minutes ago, and will run until July 22. Well there goes my lunch money. Not been able to really browse it fully as the website keep going down to heavy traffic.

Day one is kind of bleh. I see Bioshock Infinite there, still $10 more than I want to pay. I have a hard time coughing up that much money for a 12 hour game I'm like to play once and then never again.

Mildly tempted by Scribblenauts Unlimited. Anyone able to weigh in on the quality/fun of that title? $5 is a good price to take a flier on it.

Correction: The Steam Summer Sale has been delayed due to BROKEN STORE. Literally, everyone is hitting F5 like a madman and the store is literally broken right now...that means stop hitting f5 repeatedly damnit!

Steam sale starts.

Steam store breaks.

Guess that kinda reminds everyone of the popularity of it. It does kinda feel like Christmas morning.

Actually closed steam and re-opened it, hoped it would have fixed the store problem if it was on my end. Did get to see the discounts in that news pop-up of theirs.

Nothing really of interest today tbh. Few small indie games, Hotline Miami being the only one with any sort of significant discount, some random small time games with mediocre discounts, L4D2 and CS:GO, which, if you're interested in at all would probably already have by now, and Bioshock: Infinite, only 50% off, which puts it at the same price it is on Amazon normally.

Steam sales have gone down in quality in the recent few years to be honest. Though no doubt something i want will come up eventually. Just hope it isn't a measly 50% off, i've held off getting some games from elsewhere on the basis that 75% off and more used to be the standard for Steam sales.

Skyrim DLCs appear to be 50% off, I was hoping for more but I guess £7 is an acceptable enough price to finally get my hands on Dragonborn.

Shame the page keeps crashing ;p

EDIT: and if Borderlands 2 wins the vote to under a tenner in the next batch, that too may be worth a purchase.

Damn, this is seriously going to hurt the wallet...

Goddamit I can see, but I cant buy due to problems with Steam. Hopefully things will work a bit better in a few days when the number of people trying to access it decreases.

I'm hoping to sell enough trading cards on the market to pick up Don't Starve and a couple of random DLC packs, but the market keeps crashing. Those stupid Summer Sales were going for over $5 a pop right after the sale started, but any attempt at posting my own collection has failed so far -- I post a card, the system tells me it couldn't post due to technical difficulties, card posts anyways five minutes later, and by that point the market value has dropped by a third. The same goes for everything else I've been trying to sell. I haven't sold a frigging thing all day because the listings are screwed up.

Fuck you Valve, fuck you in your stupid face. You can't be bothered to plan ahead for these events, so your customers end up getting screwed over. RENT SOME GODDAMN SERVERS FOR THESE EVENTS, you incompetent tools!!!

So I'm new to Steam Sales, what are daily deals and flash sales, and should I wait till the end before buying anything?

I mean I see Skyrim on sale with a flash sale, the discount is alright but not really great. Should I get it or just wait?
Daily deals and flash sales are the lowest that game will be discounted throughout the sale, there is a rule if you don't see the game you want on the daily or flash sale list, then wait til it is.

I got it a few weeks back, and I really like it. Some puzzles unfortunately demand that you are fairly specific, while some you can solve with a purple monkey dishwasher randomness answer. A tad short if you don't want to replay it, but definitely worth 5$.

OT: Pretty excited about this. Hoping for a few good deals.
