For those of you who dont know what Steam is im talking about the game shop for PC and stuff like that basicly you buy a game giving them the money and then it is downloaded onto your PC and stuff like that. And I want to know what you like about ti what you hate about it and your faviorte game on it. So this is a bit pointless but im bored so I thought I would do this. And sry if this has already been done. Ohhh and your rating.

I haven't bought anything over Steam though I do have it. I've considered getting the Orange Box through it because working it out I'd save about £20 on getting the entire Half Life pack, all the seperate bits, through Steam instead of my local Game or Gamestation. I've never had any real problems with it, so yeah, Steam's OK for me.

The prices are truly ridiculous---I mean, $9.99 for the Orange Box a few weekends ago? Absurd! Insane! Ludicrous (if you're Valve, that is...)

Steam proves that not all developers are money-grubbing jerks.

Its a good thing.

They have a lot of sales and they're usually cheaper than retail.

I like Steam.

I love steam, except when i go back to uni and cant play any of my games in offline mode because apparently you need to be online to set it to offline mode because it needs to update the files for some reason. No, you cant just play offline mode if you want to, you need to update it first!!! arrgh, why is it so complicated and arbitrary!!!!

Like I think Steam is awesome and stuff because it cuts out the middle man and stuff and having no retail package and stuff gives them the ability to sell stuff cheaper and stuff it's also really nice and stuff to not have to take care of a disk and stuff or worry about losing it or storing and stuff and I don't have to hang on to cd keys and stuff to prove that I own stuff that I bought and stuff and when I'm done playing a game for a while I can just uninstall it and stuff and when I wanna come back to it or whatever I can just download it again and stuff I don;t have to look for a disk and stuff my favorite game is left 4 dead because you can kill zombies and stuff and work with your team and stuff.

I went to the store, bought The Orange Box, put it in my computer and... it opened Steam and started downloading the games. That was pretty stupid, I thought people bought games in a real life stores so you don't HAVE to download them...

I hate it and don't use it. I only buy non-steam games. Preferably budget versions.
On the other hand, I kind of live in yesteryear concerning games, so...
Bah. New games suck anyway. Everything's samey shooter/RTS/RPG bullshit. *waves cane angrily*

I prefer owning the disc and box for my games, so I rarely use Steam. I remember how bad it sucked when HL2 first came out but it is a decent service right now. Pretty big library and as long as your connection can handle it, a good download service. The last game I downloaded was Empire: Total War and it averaged at 2.4mb/s.

If memory serves, you can install it from the DVDs. That's what they're there for. The downloads should be just for the updates - though I think you have the option of downloading it from the internet too.

I hadn't heard of Steam until I brought the Orange Box for my 360, and even then I didn't download it. Though eventually I had to, becuase Football Manager 2009 for the PC kept on nagging me to download it.

I use Steam to find Independant games that I wouldn't be able to find in stores, like Spectromancer and Dangerous High School Girls In Trouble.

Please, PLEASE use punctuation and learn to not overuse the word 'stuff'.

Ontopic: I like steam. The prices are reasonable and you no longer have to leave your house if you want to buy a game.

In the UK, I might add. You can usually buy a hard copy for cheaper.
