Ladies and gentlemen, point your browsers thisaway [http://store.steampowered.com/treasurehunt].

Finally, some meaning to a select few achievements. Basically, every 48 hour period, four challenges will be put up, a mixture of basic things (e.g. Put an avatar on your profile) and game achievements (e.g. get the Iron Curtain in Poker Night). Every challenge has a draw, in which 5 people who complete that challenge gets 5 games of their choice.

Complete 10 challenges and log in December 20th (PST) to enter the big 100 game draw.

Oh, and to help you on your way, the games the challenges are taken from are discounted. See, I told you it was a sale.

Oh, and there's TF2 hats as well. 5 challenges gets a basic Bounty Hat, 15 challenges nets you a Treasure Hat, and beating all of the challenges nets you the Hat of Undeniable Respect and Wealth.

I do have to say, this is a genius move on Valve's part. It's also a counter to the ongoing D2D [http://www.direct2drive.co.uk/] 1-in-5 goes free offer, Gamersgate pre-Christmas sale [http://www.gamersgate.co.uk/giftguide] with the advent calendar [http://www.gamersgate.co.uk/adventcalendar] and the buy-4-pay-for-3 deal, and Impulse's... lonely daily deals [http://www.impulsedriven.com/]. (Not to mention GOG's half calander, low deals measure, with a big surprised promised for day 14 [http://www.gog.com/en/page/dec2010] and GfWL's dollar games week [http://www.gamesforwindows.com/en-US/dailydeal/]). It's lovely to see competition in action.

Is it just me, or does that page show a Poker Night at the Inventory one, yet in steam, that one isn't on the list?

Edit: It is there, it just doesn't have the deal thing underneath, so didn't notice it.

"Have 10 on your friends list"... joy.

However the UnderGarden one is easily dealt with, so I got my point there.

I wonder if that AAAaaaAAAaaa!! game is worth $2.50?

Too bad you have to have the 20 or so games they use the achievements for -_-
Most are dirt cheap indies that are on sale during the two days they're being highlighted for.

The next objectives:

* Join an Official Group
(Easily done.)
* Get Back in Business in Mafia II
(Not worth it unless you already have the game.)
* Be a Devastator in Magic: The Gathering
(Not worth it as the game is complete ass.)
* Set a leaderboard score of at least 85,370 for 'Classic - Small Wonder' in Droplitz
(I'll probably do this one too since the game's only $2.50 for today and tomorrow.)

too bad I dont have spare money right now to buy the games needed
Well it looks like each set there is something you can do without buying a game, so that should be enough to get in a few drawings, and maybe even the whole shebang if you pay attention to it.

Lots of people (ones I know in real life anyway) seem to be dismissing this out of hand because nobody wants to buy all these games to get all these achievements.
But don't make this mistake! If you actually read the fine print, you can see that you can still win stuff without buying anything.
I have 4/10 done for the grand draw, which is easy enough for anybody to do without paying a dime.
Though I may end up buying AAAaaaAAAaaa!!!
