critical assessment of Fry here.
Some hero worship here
I'm quite aware of the things Mr Fry does; the man is reasonably intelligent and stands by his moral reasoning and aids such causes. Laudable but simply the mark of a reasonable and potentially interesting man not a particularly noteworthy one.
The way in which he aids those charities isn't particularly interesting in of itself and so only noteworthy in that he does so - as hundreds of thousands of other intelligent and morally sound people do.

Fry's fame extends from his writing and acting wit, it is his sole stand out factor in our population and his ability thereof seems to have peaked some time ago. I hope it hasn't, his charm and wit are just my kind of thing I rather like Stephens work myself and a spot of Qi is just the thing I want every now and then.
My issue isn't with the man himself but the public image he has created.

Fry for prime-minister? no, it only makes sense to keep self professed manic-depressive narcissists away from places of power. They, by very definition, cannot make decisions in sound mind and in the interest of the people.

Ron Perlman, if for no reason other than hearing him make his adresses and speeches would be aaaaaaaaaaawesome!
And he's an American born... um, American. That means he could actually be eligible for president.

Hugh Laurie, Matt Bellamy, Liam Nieson, or Hayley Williams.

Nice voice, nice voice, amazing voice, nice voice/amazing body.

Yeah, I'm vain... I know.

All right, maybe not President, but Prime Minister then. Though I could turn this thread into a medium in which to explain just how awesome Stephen Fry is, I'm not going to.

Instead I'm going to ask you, Escapists, this;

If you could choose any celebrity to be the Prime Minister, Dictator, President, Chancellor, King or Queen, of the country you live in, who would you choose? And why?

As you can probably gather I would choose Stephen Fry. Even though I am from Denmark, I would like to see him become the Prime Minister here.

Why? Well, even though I said earlier that I'd not turn this into a thread about him, as the OP it's my duty to start out.

  • 1: He's highly intelligent and well spoken.
2: He's an outspoken atheist, like myself, which could ensure that religion could finally be held out of politics (to a certain degree).
3: He has a great voice, and can captivate his listeners even through the most boring of circumstances.
4: Charisma is something he possesses in a great amount. Who would want to go to war against him?
5: He's gay. I would love to see a gay man as Prime Minister. I know it sounds weird, but I honestly belive it could change the perspectives on certain areas.
6: If Arnold could make decent governor, I have no doubt in my mind that Stephen Fry could be a succesful head of state, if he put his mind to it.

You don't have to make as many, or reasonable, points as I do. Hell, you don't even have to be serious about it! [sub]Which sounds silly when I write it like that.[/sub]

But anyway, your turn!
Well you pretty much took my choice right out of my mouth. He would make an awesome world leader.

Jon Stewart for US president

(HELL YEAH!)
Or Bruce Campbell...
This was the correct answer.

Were I to pick the greatest (in terms of entertainment value inherent in the concept) government, it would look like this:

President: Bruce Campbell
VP: Nathan Fillion
Secretary of Defense: Clint Eastwood
Secretary of State: Stephen Fry
Secretary of the Treasury: Ben Stein
Press Secretary: Malcolm Mcdowell
