First post nailed it for me. He did some amazing things, and was a great person, even though I almost always prefer other brands over the Apple one. I don't think technology would be where it is today without him. He will be missed.

It seems a lot of people hate Apple but what about Pixar? We all love Pixar!!

Be happy he is at peace and remember him for all the advancements in technology that would not have happened without him :D

Apparently there has also been a hiring freeze at Apple. When questioned about this, a spokesperson simply said that there was no more Jobs at apple.

Excluding the Ipod, I'm never into his products like the Iphone or Ipad but still it's a shame that he was taken away. I mean he look like the guy who had plenty of years ahead of him.

It seen however people had forgotten that he's the reason why we have Pixar, yes the same company that make those fantastic CGI films (be bought the company that soon become Pixar).

Too soon kid, too soon. That kind of joke is welcome on Sikipedia, not the Escapist

As as has been said on this thread countless times. I don't really like Apples products, but I must say that a lot of the innovations that are around today wouldn't be here if it weren't for the brilliant mind of Steve. Rest In Peace.

Proof that Job's brilliant marketing techniques work. He isn't anything like you call him. He took what was already long there, polished it, repackaged it and sold it like he made something out of this world. And you know what? Craptons of people fell for it completely, which is a huge accomplishment in it's own right. Vile, and it leaves a bad taste in my mouth, but a big accomplishment nonetheless.

Jobs was an absolutely brilliant marketeer who knew how to play the masses, he made Apple rose from the ashes with that skill. Technological pioneer? Barely, at least not the previous decade or so. He did make the first commercial GUI-interface, that was innovative. That and he made Pixar happen. Thumbs up for that.

I feel the same way.

Sure I didn't like apple, but it's terrible to see him die at a fairly young age...

To everyone who says you hate apple products for their incompatibility (walled garden) but respect Steve Jobs, you should note that this entire scheme grew out of Jobs personal ego. He was not a good human being and he helped to shape the trademark and patent trolling that has overwhelmed the technology industry. So I am not sorry he's gone, rather relieved. Trolls are trolls and should not be mourned.

Very sad when someone dies in their fifties.
Still, Steve Jobs achieved a lot during his lifetime, and he certainly won't be forgotten any time soon.

Steve Jobs was one of the most brilliant businessmen to ever live. His vision extends far beyond the work he did with Apple; Just look at Pixar. He had an unreal amount of intuition and charisma. I may have given up on Apple products, but the ways he's revolutionized personal computing is something that deserves to be commended.

Isn't doing this sort of thing on a thread mourning someone's death considered trolling?

Regardless of his practices, he set up a huge corporation that provided both jobs and a large scale social interactions (much in the same way that any company with a large following would do). His decisions also helped establish his various competitors (meaning he's also responsible for several other large scale social groupings) and shape how computers and other devices would evolve. No matter what you think of him, it would be very hard to imagine just what the world might look like without him.

Therefore, I'd like to say this: Rest in Peace, Jobs. I never knew you personally, and I can't really say I was that fond of you from what I heard, but you followed your dreams and lived how you wanted up till the end and I respect you for that as much as I respect the impact you had on my life without you ever really meaning to.

No, it's not because I didn't make the post to piss people off, just to share an opinion that was not previously stated in the thread. The thread was not created to mourn him as you say, but rather to discuss his death. Read the article, it doesn't say post here to mourn, people are just doing that. I say the guy had a negative impact on the world and guess what, most of my friends do too. Deal with it rather than calling me a troll.
