If Apple didn't existed Bill Gates, without string competence, would be our one and only emperor. Windows wouldn't be half of good looking (it isn't as good looking as Mac OS now). And mobile devices wouldn't be so popular.

I won't report you because i'd rather you to think about it and realize that you should have been more respectful even if you don't like/care about his products than for you to be warned.
Well, you won't report him because it's petty and a misuse of the red button. You don't have any authority to dole out potential imaginary punishments to people who you deem to be breaking imaginary rules.

He died yesterday, 30 seconds is an acceptable grieving time for someone whom you meant nothing to.

i think what Elle Driver tells The Bride at the beginning of Kill Bill Vol. 1 works well here:"I might never have liked you. Point of fact, I despised you. But that doesn't suggest I didn't respect you."
RiP Steve. You and the iPod revolutionized portable technology.

I'm going to join the large rank of people saying "I didn't like you, Steve, but may you rest in peace".

Yes I have the right and authority to report a post that I think can offend or upset other members. And it looks i was right, the mods, and probably other members that reported him, found the post upseting and they suspended him. Potentially punisments yes, imaginary no, neither imaginary just decency and respect.

If he doesn't gives a fuck then why post it for others, that care, to read it. If 30 seconds of grieving is enought to him and you the respect that it might not be enough for others.

While I do not hate Steve Jobs, one thing that has persistently bothered me is what I regard to be excessive praise being heaped upon him. At the end of the day, Jobs' greatest strengths were as a businessman/salesman (IIRC it was either Bill Mensch or Chuck Peddle who regarded Jobs as nothing more than a hustler). He didn't particularly know how to build/design stuff, but god damn did he know how to sell it. The fact that millions of people buy Apple products despite their being overrated (and ludicrously overpriced) is testament to that.

I've always been of the opinion that the true technical/engineering genius behind Apple in its formative years was indeed named Steve, but it wasn't Jobs.

It's shocking to see the number of people ensuring to mention that they 'hate apple' but wish to offer condolences anyway - can't just offer an honest RIP, can we? who cares whether you 'hate apple' (they're a company, so what, you hate logos now?) - what he did changed computing, phones and music forever.

RIP Steve Jobs.

I wonder if he made a little "ding" error beep and a little bomb icon popped up in his glasses.
Maybe now I can get flash on my phone.

It's always unfortunate when someone that young dies, but to be honest, I didn't know the guy and I always found him to be a bit of an egotistical jerk.

He won't be resting in peacefully when the WBC pickets his funeral.

He may have not been my favorite person on this planet, but no one deserves this.

In my third year digital electronics lecture today our lecturer said this. "Whatever you guys think of Apple, Steve Jobs was a great innovator and he made shedloads of money... though he was self taught and dropped out of university after one term."

Great example to us all...

That settles it, no Job can survive this economy
That's great. I will now use it and claim it as my own.

Oh yeah, I forgot to mention I hate Apple. Thanks for reminding me.
Also, I'd disagree about them being just a company...

Is a tragic loss. He was one of the key people for getting personal computing where it is today.

Also, Apple will be releasing a Special Edition Black "Steve Jobs" Memorial iPad 2, only $599.99.

The man, though dying, strove only to better his company and his family. Putting his care for others above his care for himself. Powerful.

"Remembering that you are going to die is the best way I know to avoid the trap of thinking you have something to lose. You are already naked. There is no reason not to follow your heart."-Steve Jobs, 1955-2011

See you Steve.

I don't intend any disrespect to Jobs, but he didn't co-found Pixar. I've seen quite a few folks 'round the net say that today. Read The Pixar Touch; Jobs came 'round in 1986 (the group that became Pixar started in 79 as part of Lucasfilms) and invested enough money to get them where they needed to be.

While it's safe to say Pixar wouldn't be the giant it is today without him, he never claimed to be their co-founder.
