I'm sad that Jobs died, more sad about his death than I have been regarding any other recent deaths, but its not "MY LIFE HAS NO MEANING" kind of sad.
Its just a major bummer.

A human being died.

That is always tragic.
Not REALLY, is it?

Jobs aside, surely we can agree that some deaths are either necessary or funny as hell?
Now you're speaking my language! I can agree that not all deaths are tragic.
Some would say that Hitler's death was Heilarious
I'd say it was siegnificantly more funny than that!
A LOLocaust if you will

No,not really.
Yeah, Kinda really. After all humor is subjective amirite? So by that logic somewhere someone will find death funny.

I have never been a fan of his products but there is no denying that a genius and an influential man has passed away.

Have you ever heard of a Turing machine? If not, let me introduce you to one; you're using it to post on these forums. The man invented the entire concept of computers as we know them. If the patent office had been in the state it is now back then, nobody would be able to make a computer without paying off his estate. Just because the average person, for whom, let's face it, technology isn't a major part of their lives to begin with, doesn't know as much about him as they do Steve Jobs or Bill Gates, doesn't mean that he didn't invent the very concept of the machines they dedicated their lives to. It's like saying the founding fathers were less important than the current congress, just because people are more familiar with the modern politicians than those of the past.
Thank you, God I don't believe actually exists, finally someone who gets the damn POINT.

Who do you think was more important, the guy who found out how to make fire or the guy figured out a lighter that a kid can use?

One is invention. Other is improvement.

No matter how you feel about apple, the man pioneered the home computer, graphical user interface, and basically monopolized the MP3 Player, Music and Tablet markets. I salute you Mr. Jobs. Rest in Peace.

despite how much i disliked the man as a tyrant, he did help make technology what it is today.

lets just hope if there is a god that he/she isn't a fan of apple..

Nah, if there is an afterlife, I'm pretty sure Jobs isn't spending it with the guy upstairs...

Wait, so now we give people respect for attempting to circumvent antitrust laws?
When did this happen?
Why was I not informed?

I DEMAND ANSWERS!

Yes.
Last Wednesday.
And we didn't think you'd care so much.

In this case, it wasn't an attempt at circumventing anti-trust laws; he was just such a good advertiser that he managed to corner each of those markets right at the start. He didn't actually do anything anti-competitive, he just got there first. You see the same thing currently with Steam and the digital distribution market -- it's so entrenched that the very consumers that more competition would help are digging in their heels and refusing to use the competitor's product, not because it's actually worse than Steam, but because it's coming from another company, and is therefore a different product.
