I...I think I love you. But seeing as the wife is rather adamant on the subject of threesomes, here's an internet high-five.

Fair enough. Have you tried Impulse or Direct 2 Drive, though? I haven't tried D2D, but I was quite happy with the two games I registered through Impulse. I don't know if it's changed since Gamestop bought it, but it used to be essentially DRM free, although Stardock was never able to get games as quickly as Valve, nor were they able to negotiate for quite as good sale prices. For all the dressing up of the DRM it does, Steamworks is still one of the most oppressive forms of it on the market.
Hmm, Impulse isn't bad, but D2D is downright horrible. The pricing in Europe is nothing short of highway robbery with a side order of prison rape. The best DD system I know is GoG.com

Those guys are AWESOME. At last count, I dropped 667 bucks down that particular drain.

And I already OWN most of those games. I just really wanted to support that idea.

Nah, if there is an afterlife, I'm pretty sure Jobs isn't spending it with the guy upstairs...
agreed.

i might just have to poke my head downstairs with a troll face on saying "u mad? it's gonna cost you alot more than an ipad down here, instead of an arm and a leg it's your whole damn being."
Actually, after seeing the sales figures for iPhone 4, I'm betting that Jobs has a cushy managerial position down there. No way that many people are THAT retarded.
oh god..i just imagined this:

damn you jobs! even in another dimension you still put a hole in our economy!

I suppose I will have to honor him by wearing a black t-shirt tucked into my jeans at school tomorrow. That was kind of his thing. He will be missed.
I'll just honor him by slapping a cover on an old broken iPod Touch 1g I have somewhere around here and selling it to some idiot as the iPhone 5 that "just came out".

It worked for Apple, it can work for me.

Also, turtlenecks are only cool if you live in a volcano. Don't ask me why, it's a rule.

He will alway be known for what he did for the world, he was a good man and gave an generation ideas that could only have come from a man with such creativity and intellectual prowess.

He did everything from create an PC with an interface that gave everyday people the chance to use it in 1983, to revolutionizing digital music distubution and how we listen to music with itunes and ipod, to changing how we interact with machines (zero to a few buttons).

RIP: Steve Jobs, what you represent will live on though your memory

A human being died.

That is always tragic.
Not REALLY, is it?

Jobs aside, surely we can agree that some deaths are either necessary or funny as hell?
No,not really.
Yeah, Kinda really. After all humor is subjective amirite? So by that logic somewhere someone will find death funny.
In short.
DON'T APPLY YOUR LOGIC TO EVERYONE ELSES
"DON'T APPLY YOUR LOGIC TO EVERYONE ELSES"

Exactly.

Hypocritical of me to say yes, but it proved my point. Not everyone shares remorse in the same fashion as you and therefore some people find death funny.
Not an opinion. Its a fact, because I find some of those jokes about death hilarious and nothing anyone says will change me

WTH? Really? That's...incredible.

But he's so young. It's like...damn...like MJ dying in 2009, except for computers.
Never saw that coming.
So, an egomaniacal child molester and an egomaniacal tyrant...

Good company, that.
Ok, I get you had a bad day or whatever. Was that really necessary though? I just made a statement of surprise that he is truly dead. I didn't believe the OP at first until I looked at a few news sites.

I thought he would live a bit longer. He wasn't in the best of health, but like when MJ died, I'm shocked to hear of his passing. It's going to be odd not hearing his name in the news constantly for something Apple did anymore.

It's like something happening to Gabe Newell. I'd be shocked as all hell for that too.
Here's a better example, for future reference; Les Paul died shortly after (like, in the same week as) Michael Jackson. He was an incredibly skilled Jazz guitarist, the inventor of the solid body electric guitar, the namesake of the Gibson Les Paul, and, most importantly, the inventor of multi-tracked recording. That's right, Michael Jackson's music (and that of pretty much every other major musician since at least Jimi Hendrix), would not have been possible without the contributions of Les Paul. I was so upset that Michael Jackson was all over the news for several weeks, while Les Paul barely even got a mention.
I guess depending on how many people actually have heard of you/know you still exist/know your contributions to society is how long you get a mention on the news. Like how Farrah Fawcett (sp?) died a bit earlier and no one seemed to truly give a crap, especially when we heard what happened to MJ. She was even pushed to the side on memorial magazines. I can honestly say I don't remember hearing anything about anyone dying after MJ.

By that statement, Mr. Jobs is going to be on air for the next....six or seven months.

Such sad news for a person who helped our world. I think this says it all:

Oh! What an evil, evil commercial! So they use the images and life accomplishments of dead people to sell apple products. That is pretty low.

Perhaps they can now use the image of Steve Jobs to sell something wickedly inappropriate (like tampons or adult diapers).

W00t, internet high-five!

I'll have to take your word on D2D; like I said, I haven't tried it yet. I haven't really had a reason to -- no exclusives, no major sales, really nothing to get me interested in it over the programs that I already have clogging up my hard drive. I was using it as an example of software that people tend to write off thanks to Steam, but it looks like writing that one off may be for good reason. As for GoG; I absolutely love their distribution system. They were giving away free copies of the Broken Sword remake, so I went ahead and got it. It is the least intrusive DD system I've ever seen -- completely DRM free, and even the one Popcap uses, which is nice and lightweight in its own right, was more of a hassle.

Too bad about their business model; sure, the current copyright holder gets money for the ancient games they sell, but what about the people who actually made them? I love that they have the Wing Commander games up for sale, and I'm tempted to buy them, but morally speaking I'd feel more in the right if I pirated them and sent a check to Will Roberts than if I paid for them and lined EA's pockets. The thing that upsets me most about Origin is that it's the only thing in living memory that EA has done with their purchase of Origin Systems; they seriously screwed up one of the best studios to ever exist.

We talking about the same guy who cut all charity donations when Apple went into the red in 1997 and never bothered reinstating any of them when it was back in black? Just checking.

1. He didn't.
2. Yeah, he made it WORSE by adding DRM to MUSIC.
3. There were touchscreens before the iPhone, you know.

The last part is, unfortunately true, as we will discover with the iPhone 6, aka, the iPhone 5 with more functions unlocked and twice the price.

What's that Woz and the other Steve are still alive? Guess the truly innovative ones are still doing fine and hopefully we won't have to worry about them for a while. Poor Jobs though, he was a great orator... not really his ideas, but great orator.

In fact... not really sure where all this innovation-praise for Jobs is coming from, most of his innovation came from Woz and the other Steve (if not almost all of it). iConfused.

True that, but then, at least SOME of the money goes to people with a GOOD business idea. I can live with that.
Oh, Origin...and Bullfrog and Westwood. EA is truly of the devil.

Simple. He was THAT good an orator. He managed to convince people that Apple was a one-man show.

I'm hardly Apple's biggest fan, but Steve Jobs himself I had nothing but respect for. The world has lost a brilliant mind.

As much as I hate Apple, I can't deny Job's role in the development of computers.

RIP Steve.

Oh, and WBC, you can fuck right off.

I already a made a "meh" post about this, but I thought I'd do one that more accurately describes my feelings about this (Although I doubt anyone cares). I've never bought or really cared much about any Apple product. I abhor a lot of the choices that Steve Jobs, the man, made. And yet, I feel awful right now, like there's been a great disturbance in the Force (Not making a corny joke, Star Wars is the closest thing I have to a religion, also not a joke).

Maybe it's the fact that I'm someone who's ignored his work, yet is still influenced by it indirectly. Maybe it's the fact that cancer did him in at 56 despite his wealth and influence. Or maybe it's all these inspirational quotes I keep hearing from him posthumously. I don't know, but for some reason, this really does hit me, seriously rest in peace, Steve Jobs...
