The thing I have a problem with him is this:
1) I don't like his music
2) I think the only reason he's as successful as he is, is because of little school girls thinking he's soo handsome. I know that some like his music, but I also know a few who have 2 or 3 versions of the same album. When I asked "Why?" they respond by looking at me like I'm an idiot and saying: "Cause Heee's sooo dreamy". Looks shouldn't contribute to music sales only talent.

Edit: Apparently another thread (on escapist) claims his hair shavings sold for $40K, this just supports my theory of liking him and not his music

Besides, why should I stop making fun of him? It's too easy :p

On that topic: He's probably not getting laid because his mom's his manager and probably a total control freak, won't let none of those 'filthy' girls touch him. I'll bet she even picks his dates lol.
You'd be quite suprised how much the female gender places its interest in an artist dependent on looks or image. This is of course a huge generalization, I'll admit that, but does seem to apply to a lot of female fans (perhaps most normal in the west), in my experience.

OT: I don't like him for what he stands for. He has no prior experience regarding loss or tragedy. Just a plain bucket of "happiness" read as fame.
His performances are bland, and he fail to bring some personalization to them. They could've been sung by an equally high-voiced girl for that matter (Not in sense of actual sound, but rather the blandness of the song).

Basically, he's just some average kid, that can sing (sure he can), but with no personal life experience or opinion. Bland. A brick. A brick with female popularity, good coaches and singing voice.

of course it's a sunny disposition... how much fuckign money is that guy making?

How much pussy is he swiming in?

I'd be sunny too if I found I was talented with something and was encouraged since day 1.

Creating a thread for some attention I see...

Shut up, delete your account, never come here again.

You can't change peoples minds, they can do as they legally wish, this thread is pointless and will not change anything. Think before you post next time and make sure it is something worth discussing.
It's a response to the "Bieber's $40,000 Hair" thread, which was much more hostile and worthless then this thread. Don't be so aggressive.

Also,
http://www.google.com/recaptcha/api/image?c=03AHJ_Vuv3SVulTJU_Ws_lm_BtipE9iFHpP8nFR5BYeB8s4651pebXue8JXe3dxqtFChr6BvoLCA6pOJ3o3JgyvACLpJdo13YbOhA9m3pOs_YImKxhUKKi_0oeFaHo9jbUeq7BJsr3q-OhWwCX0Y6YIE1gOkIt9-Ue7w
Doesn't matter what it is biased on. It is still spam.

(Also if I was all kind about it like some others that posted I wouldn't get the attention I wanted my post to have. You got to know your audience and how they'll react.)

See what I did there?
Yeah, I saw it... You contradicted your original point and made your self look like the attention seeker rather than the O.P. Of course this doesn't always work in your favor you may attract the attention of a moderator who might not act so kindly to a user who is telling people to "Shut up, delete your account, never come here again." and you might see your self in trouble for inappropriate behavior towards a member of this community.
I contradicted nothing, my original point was to stop threads which have no arguable sides. This topic is clear, Bieber is not liked by many but is also liked by just as many if not more. The clear answer will be a "no" from those who dislike him and a "supporting statement" from those who like him.

Responding to said topic is another situation entirely. He wanted people to stop the H8 on Bieber, I responded saying it won't happen. I just changed my wording to garner a response...which worked not only once but twice. If you haven't noticed already everyone who posts anything, including you, are looking for attention. They want their post to be recognized for one reason or another. My post, lacktheknack's post, and your post all worked in garnering attention towards others. Thus is why we are having this lengthy discussion on what I decided to put down. So thank you for proving me with another opportunity to clarify my methods.

Topics which lead nowhere = spam
Posts in said topic = what OP was asking for
I'm just giving him what he wants, an answer.

Don't try and warn me about moderators, I'm not an idiot. I do know the RRRRRUURRUS and what to say and not say to remain an active member. I am new to The Escapist but not the internet and certainly not forums.

Rise an objection to that my friend. ^.^

Wait, what? They spent $40,000 on his new haircut? That is the biggest waste of money I have ever heard. No seriously, you must be fucking with me, $40,000?
Yep, and all donated to charity.

Same thing happened with a piece of bubble gum chewed by Britney Spears, but I think that sold for more...

I await the day when his voice drops and whether the men in black begin to lose interest in his now ruined singing voice.....
Aaaaaaaaanyway, his songs are a overall dissapointment. His fanbase are made of 12 year old girls and because of their rabid case of Bieber fever, he continues to thrive. I blame his mom for putting him on youtube in the first place or whatever. In a nutshell, I will not stop picking on him for aslong as he remains famous, worshipped like a diety and for as long as he keeps giving us the crappy excuse for his music.

Or maybe it can evolve into understanding the reasons behind the hatred (as shown in multiple posts here) or trying to reason one side to another... This is what we call a debate. Threads like this can create a good amount of debate among fans, interesting debate too, over the decline of the taste in the music industry, whether or not Justin is to blame for this or society as an whole. The bigger picture my friend, small threads like this can lead to much bigger things.

However the response had nothing to do with the subject of the thread or your arguement but your attitude. So the only attention you've made for you self was for people to call you out on your rude attitude towards the O.P... If you call that a success then, using your own logic* it is you who is doing the spamming for attention.

Not really most just like to add their opinion on the topic and will gladly debate their opinion. They don't go out of there way just to get attention like you've shown. Sure its nice to know some one as recognised there post but they don't just construct it in order to receive attention.

However, as stated above, your post only drew attention to your methods and not your arguement. Which added nothing to the discussion, meaning there is a fault in your method. If your wanting to draw any sort of attention, it should be aimed towards furthering the debate of the topic and not your methods.

Explain how he has "succeeded" exactly?
he is world-famous and has more money at 17 (I think? maybe 16) than a lot of people will earn in a lifetime
has he really made that much money? People tend to over-estimate musicians' wealth, since it takes a lot of money to keep them running (promotions, that is). Especially with Justin Bieber, who they've been milking like it's the greatest cow on earth.

But if I were an artist, I would not consider that grounds for success, that is, if I knew that was my only fan-base (young female teens), then I knew that something went wrong. They don't love him for the music, they love him, for HIM.

I don't go around declaring my hate for him (or love fot that matter)
But I don't like him, I don't like any of these pop singers who're manufactured and make millions by selling awful over auto-tuned songs.

I do find it hilerious when I'm rading random comments on YouTube or something like "What a queer, go die you ******"

I don't like him because he's very conformist... though that's my only problem with HIM. I'm sure he's a nice kid, I just don't like his conformist bullshit. I have a much bigger problem with the boardroom executives who continuously try to shove him down our throats... or, if you want a better metaphor, in our ears.

I'd say it's more conformist, or just as, to hate him.

I simply don't care for his music, so i choose to ignore him.
Dude... I DON'T hate him. I'm sure that if I met him I would like him. I have no strong feelings toward HIM one way or the other. I just don't like his music. And I WOULD ignore him, if it weren't for the fact that he is next to impossible to ignore when he's making national headlines. Currently I haven't heard much related to him anywhere since the Grammies, so things have been going pretty well.

Actually, maybe I do hate him, after that comment "Everything happens for a reason." that he made when asked if a raped woman should be allowed to abort her fetus... though that's my only real reason to hate HIM.

Also, re-reading my original post here, I did say I hated him didn't I... Scratch that would you?

*shudders* that's just creepy, I mean I have a few celebrity crushes like everyone but to spend $40,000+ on a piece of gum? Maybe they think they can clone her or something...

In order of your responses,

1. I attacked him for creating a thread with a misleading topic, I just stated the method he used. "Creating a thread for some attention I see..." was the introduction to say he will not change anyone's minds. Eurrybody knows that you need something to catch the readers attention from the get-go, so I used what I saw.

2. Most debates start out with a poll or a question. This thread however was created using a statement with no room for debate. (I am only speaking of the topic of the thread, what he wrote later on was not asking for anything really and doesn't call for a debate) I decided to write my view just to say, "This is a useless topic" more or less.

3. Subject was what he wrote as the topic in the section to describe the topic, "Stop picking on Justin Bieber."

4. Why would people add their opinion? To get their word out, aka getting attention. Otherwise they would realize that their word has no ground and wouldn't even bother to post.

5. I drew attention to my methods to explain why I would say what I said in the first post. Had nobody responded to me the first time I would have had a clear statement with an unclear insult. Talking about me saying my methods later in secondary and so on posts is irrelevant due to that being a split topic in general. Think Thread in a thread...inception style.

6. Eh, it's not like I couldn't just make another account. That is if I were to slip up and anger them mods.

7. I got nothing for that one. Thanks I guess?

But all that said, I am tired of talking about something with the hovering topic of Bieber. I think this quote from an episode of The Venture Brothers sums up everything I have posted thus far... "IGNORE ME!!!"

Back to the Evangelion thread, yay.

In the last few years, I've decided that if you have enough experience with similar things, you really can dislike something without trying it first. I've never liked autotuned songs by young pop stars that dwell on fleeting adolescent romances; since "the Beeb" (that's what I call him now) fits with that profile perfectly, there is no reason for me to think that I would like his music. Thus, no reason to try it.

People who say "you don't know that you hate it if you don't try it first" don't really care about you broadening your horizons. They just want you to like something they like because they are insecure in their interests and can't deal with people having differing opinions on entertainment.

I'd like to point out how very wrong you are in the "broadening your horizons" point that you made. You can't make that kind of general assumption without knowing who you are talking to. If you dont know me, don't talk as if you do.

also, if you assume something is bad because it is SIMILAR to something you have already tried, then you, sir, are the one who refuses to broaden your horizons. At the same time, i dont ever remember stating that i like Bieber. I had already posted something about this earlier, so if you'll read that, then you can get an idea as to what you should say.

I never said that you were one of the insecure people. I was stating my hard and fast rule regarding people who tell you, "try it, you might like it". In hindsight, though, I guess my post was rather easily misconstrued.

But still, I see no problem in dismissing something because of its genre. I don't like this kind of music. I don't listen to it. I have very broad musical tastes, but my one rule is "no autotuning".

This "I hate what he represents" nonsense makes me believe people in this thread are full of SHIT.

This is nothing new. There have been so many pop stars that do exactly what he did, especially in the 90's and no one bitched at all of those artists COMBINED as much as they complain about Bieber. To be honest, I didn't even know who he was until I read some youtube comments.

Grow up. No one makes you listen to his music and his fame doesn't take away from your extra special favorite band because the people who listen to Bieber wouldn't likely listen anyway.

EDIT: I mean hell, sports stars can fight dogs to the death or rape people and get less negative publicity than this kid? Are you fucking joking? People need to hop off of the bandwagon and stop wasting their angsty, meaningless hatred on someone that hasn't even done anything deplorable.
BS. I bet you any amount of money if the Internet as it is now had existed back then, you would have heard just as much hatred.
I bet the same amount of money to the contrary. This is just another countercultural movement except this one has no cause.

The Thing about Justin Beiber is he undermines everything we're taught about working hard getting you far in life. He was born "pretty" and hes set for life, and he has the nerve to get a documentry made about himself AND apperntly hes writing an autobiography.

Thats why i hate Justin Beiber
(and his music is terrible)

No one forced him to put videos of his songs online. Being told that working hard gets you far in life is true, its better than not doing anything at all. He did what he loved and got where he wanted to be. As for pretty, I think that's essentially a last line of defense someone who has done better than most people with less effort. The same things you've said about him could be said about many other people, but he is the only one who receives so much contempt.
