When I expand into firearms, I'd like to get a custom engraved chrome colt 1911 with ivory grips.
Hopefully not real ivory. I can't imagine why anyone would want real ivory anything.
As long as it's taken from the corpse of a naturally deceased elephant, and not harvested in the more brutal sense, I fail to see the difference between ivory grips or piano keys and leather shoes.

I think ivory causes such an uproar because it's a buzz issue and it's possible to harvest ivory from an elephant without killing it, which is more cruel in the long run. But yeah, I'd try to make sure the ivory was taken from an elephant friendly harvester. E.g. Scavenged from an already dead creature.

I like to make little miniature capital punishment devices. I use to have a couple of working guillotines but I gave one to my last girlfriend and my best friend so now I'm just left with a small stocks and gallows.

I don't have any weird hobbies.
I used to paint Warhammer figures which is weird were I live but other than that... I collect nothing, I do nothing silly...
This thread sucks! (<-- read sarcasm)

I sometimes draw porn of weird fantasy critters.
Mostly pokemon due to their large variety of premade forms to pick from.

What do I win?

well escapist, i want to know about some of your strange hobbies?
I for one am a weaponry collector, though i focus on mostly melee/bladed "objects".
Me too, though when I move to America I want to expand to firearms.

My favorite piece is a ghurka issue kukri.

I'm currently looking to buy this

Edit: Oh yes, I do shoot. I live in a the Yorkshire countryside, but my college is filled with mostly urban people. When they ***** me out about it, I just say "well, which one of us is being more aggressive right now?"
How did you get your license to shoot. I had a shotgun and powder license for a time because I was member of a re-enactment society and we needed to opperate muskets and cannons. It was extremly regulated and requied reguar police checks to insure everything was safely stored. I can't see a licence being given for recreational use. Not calling bullshit, just curious.

OT: as weird hobbies go, the above could be considered weird i suppose. I learnt how to weild quite a few weapons in that time. Halberd was the most outlandish of the lot.

I have a shotgun license, which allows me to use manually loaded shotguns. Right now, I've got a 20 gauge double barrel Beretta that's so good it's caused others around here to seek out the same model, when before, people just had what they had.

My uncle has a semi-automatic for killing vermin on the moors, and has to have a proper firearms license for it.

Personally, we get checked every couple of years. Got a nice, sturdy gun cabinet to lock our crap up in. That said, there's usually at least one gun propped against the wall for most of the year when those checks aren't imminent. Nobody raises an eyebrow.

I love doing Urban Exploration (although I am terrified one day I will get shot at and/or in trouble with the cops).

Also, I collect video game memorabilia. Weird little stuff (like McDonalds toys, etc) that have really no worth.

I collect Bicentennial Quarters. As a semi-serious coin collector, I know that they're only worth 26 or 27 cents a piece AT BEST, but I still like them. (Also, because I think it's funny when I make my dad feel old when I remind him that they're older than I am.)

I beatbox, it keeps me entertained when i'm on my own, it gives me a skill to practice without needing equipment.
It's fun and if a couple of your friends MC, there are hours of freestyle fun to be had

I spend hours and hours on porn versions of chat roulette. It's awful and I need to stop... but I can't. Look at all those weird penises...

OT: Every morning before I get in the shower, I spend at least 10 minutes scanning and if applicable, popping any and all zits that adorn my chest, face, and back. Only then can I be ready to enter the shower and start my day.

...what? You asked for strange habi-

Oh. Well, this is awkward.

Well. I guess it's not weird. But seeing as I'm 16 years old and from Denmark. I guess it is.
I write! Poems (Well. Poem sounds like a breezy, lovestruck, 5-line compilation of clichés), essays and every form of writing you can imagine. I've started my first book just 2 days ago, it's coming along nicely.
Also; I think. That's a weird one. My world pretty much revolves around ideological theories, perspective, the philosophy of happiness and.. Words. I'm studying the philosophy of words on my own, and it's probably one of the most interesting things I have ever come across.

Also, I sing (in a band, but mostly on my own). Yet the weird part is, that whenever I'm alone I sing and dance wildly with very limited clothing.

I am writing a screenplay. It's a crime thriller involving corrupt cops and a serial killer. The challenge is not writing a compelling story but seeing how many 80s references I can cram into it.
Win.

EDIT - I might receive a warning for that so here's some other words to ensure I don't get a warning for "low comment volume" or whatever it is.

Master of Ceremonies, originally. Now hip hop artists just use it for whoever is on the mic. Maybe it means Mic Controller now. Vernacular is a strange thing, no?

Somebody I know considers gaming so strange that it doesn't even count as a hobby.
So, does that mean it counts as a strange hobby?
This is pretty much ALL the people I know, since I don't have any friends who are interested in gaming. I'm considered to have a very niche, slightly undesirable hobby that shouldn't be talked about lest I infect them with geek.
... this is so, i dont even.

Seriously? I don't think I know anyone who would bat an eye at the mention of a weekend-long Skyrim marathon. That includes family members and people who have never played video games in their lives... Who do you hang out with?!

I guess the only hobby I have that would be considered weird would be playing Go (the Chinese board game). It's not that weird, but I get a lot of interesting responses from Chinese people, since I'm white.
