This is why I refuse to buy any Capcom Fighting games. They cut out finished content to make us pay more for it. I really hope this stop happening.

It speaks volumes that they were literally so greedy and lazy that they couldn't be bothered to remove these characters from the disc before shipping to stores. Had they done so, and kept quiet about it, they could have released them as DLC a month or two down the line and no-one would have been any the wiser.

That, along with the snotty, self-entitled response to being hacked, shows just how little respect they have for us as both players and consumers. Good on the hackers; whether or not people should be hacking discs for free content is an entirely different issue from exposing Capcom and calling them out on their bullshit, for which the hackers should be applauded.

I believe this is just a massive "told you so" to the company about having it on disc.

Of course, this will all bite you in the ass later when they make it download only (the content is STILL complete, but it's not on the disc) and the download is huge...

And of course naturally yall will blame them for forcing you to wait an hour to get your new characters.

BECAUSE OF COURSE GAMERS KNOW BEST :DDDDD

Know what I was disappointed with? Including DLC on disk that was there for no better reason than to charge players later.

Wanna know who created that environment? Look in the mirror.

Half surprised he didn't blame this on the pirates or used game sales...
Yes, let's not find any fault with those who actually did this side-stepping.
nope, i personally have zero sympathy for this guys whining. there's no reason to have on disk DLC like this, none.

this guy wants to piss and moan some people aren't willing to put up with bull shit tactics like this, that's fine, he can do some where else. cause I'm a just laugh at him

Just as a side note - the characters totally aren't finished.
Blanka in particular is broken as fuck.
This is the only valid point you might have.
To be fair, it's not exactly out of the question that a broken character shows up in a finished Capcom fighting game, especially a vanilla release.

Maybe I should clarify what I meant about DLC because certain people are being complete fucking tools about it and twisting what I've said.

I'm not whining. I don't give a shit about the current DRM. I don't give a shit about whether or not it's right to have on-disk DLC.

The fact of the matter is that the more you hear stories of hacks and modifications like these, regardless of the real reasoning for DRM (whether it's meant to curb piracy or prevent second-hand sales or stop cancer from spreading), the more DRM publishers will add.

This sort of "aw hellz yeah freedom fighters" attitude that you all seem to have about the people that do this? It'll vanish as publishers and developers respond to it in the only way they know; add more DRM. This is exactly like how Anonymous with all their bravado and good intentions are going to be the reason why the internet is going to get even more shuttered and censored; people react to any breach with overkill.

Cheer them on now, but later on down the line when always-online DRM and multiple license keys become commonplace, and you're done screaming hoarse at the devs and publishers, maybe then, these people won't seem like such heroes to you.

Wait, what??? He is disappointed because people will be/are using characters other people don't have?? Isn't that the exact same thing that will happen anyways since not everyone will buy the 12 extra characters for a variety of reasons?
So true. In reality he's only dissapointed that he didn't profit from those players.

At this point the only thing CC might get my money from on this release is the DLC. I sure as hell won't be buying this new. I don't mind the idea of updating the roster/re-balance but if some or all of the characters are finished why not release those now and work on some new content for later.

So I was pretty disappointed by that. I was really surprised at how skillful the hackers were, basically. But I was really kind of disappointed that it created this kind of environment where a bunch of players were playing the characters but a bunch were unable to play with them.
What a fuckin' hypocrite. I can't believe he actually said that.

Well, it looks like DLC will soon take on the new meaning as an acronym: DISC LOCKED CONTENT. Can't wait till they try to sell us a incomplete game and then the rest for extra to actually finish it.

The consumer doesn't own the content on the disc.
Just throwing that out there.
Actually, he does. It's on his (or her) system. All he's not allowed to do is re-distribute or use the content on the disc for financial gain.
Just as a side note - the characters totally aren't finished.
Blanka in particular is broken as fuck.
This is the only valid point you might have.
No.
No...no that's known as wrong.
You do not own the content on the disc. What you buy is the license to access what is on the disc. If you owned the content on the disc then you would be able to copy and redistribute it for financial gain, because you would own the content. What you said about the ownership of the system on which it is played makes no sense at all.
I'd like it to make sense, but it doesn't.

Because that didn't happen with SF4 at all.
Read it again.
Capcom has been getting a shittonne of bad fan feedback for their constant, mostly arbitrary updates. Like......UMvC3, for example.
There was, despite jokes, never a planned version of Super SFxT - instead that was to be replaced by this DLC scheme.
I mean.....it was an ok plan.
Until they put the nearly finished characters and costumes on the disc.
Which was fucking retarded.

Also, can we please stop calling locked away content DLC? Call a spade a spade and refer to it as what it is, LOCKED AWAY ON DISC CONTENT.
You mean Disk Locked Content or "DLC"? Tee Hee...

OT- I normally don't take the hacker's side but locking finished content on the disk should be illegal. Serves Capcom right and I would not be hurt if this particular thing started to happen more and more.

"Personally, I was really surprised when I heard the news that the characters had been hacked, basically," producer, Tomoaki Ayano, told GameSpot. [http://www.gamespot.com/news/street-fighter-x-tekken-dev-disappointed-in-dlc-being-hacked-6372028] "So I was pretty disappointed by that. I was really surprised at how skillful the hackers were, basically. But I was really kind of disappointed that it created this kind of environment where a bunch of players were playing the characters but a bunch were unable to play with them."

I too am disappointed that a group of people created an environment in which some players have access to certain characters while other, less fortunate, players do not. Do you see how neutral that sentence is? It's very neutral. Like Witcher neutral. That's me. Neutral.

The DLC, which contains 12 characters, equally split between the Street Fighter and Tekken franchises, isn't available yet,but it's slated to cost $20 (1600 MSP). The Vita version of the game, which I won't be picking up because the idea of playing a fighting game with a Sony d-pad makes my left thumb retreat into my forearm in fear, comes with all the DLC characters and a few exclusive ones to boot.
How about simply either offering the DLC from Day 1, since it obviously is already playable or, you know, simply offering them for free to begin with? I still remember when additional characters and costume were unlockables, not DLC. DoA2 managed to have up to 8 unique costumes per character, all of them unlockable through gameplay.

I wouldn't buy the Vita versio neither, but thats because i find fighting games on portables to be silly. You require at least 2 portables and 2 versions of the game to play them, and when do you find someone who just happens to have both?
