I have a very zen approach to it really. I pretty much just have a sit, reflect and pick apart the stress and it's roots, and then let my thoughts fall to the side. Not the easiest thing to do, takes work and I can't shake things off all the time, but it still is a big help..more so when I'm reminded that.. that's life, things happen that can be stressful so it's best to just keep moving, and roll with the punches.
In a perfect world, we would all live by this very attractive and seductive philosophy.

However, being the irrational, bestial, instinct and emotion driven mammals that we are, there are not many of us who have the ability to achieve such a state of mind so we just hit stuff instead.

hence why I said I slip up alot too.. Doing Zazen, or something similar to it for over 20 years and still can't get that perfect separation all the time..but I should still have a long life ahead of me, and lots of time to practice
Best of luck with it... let me know how it goes because at some stage I may get tired of screaming into my pillow and kicking the wall!

I usually game or listen to some sort of music to relieve my stress, but mostly I just keep it all bottled up, though sometimes it seeps out in rants against anything I hate in particular at the moment. I expect one day I'll explode and rip someone's head off, but I doubt it ever so slightly.

My brother asked me the phenomenally stupid question of what a county was. He asked if the county we lived in was (seeing as you probably won't know where it is, I'll just say it was a tiny, tiny district in my city). I was so gobsmacked by this idocy I banged my head against the nearest window, which just so happened to have a very unstrategically placed alarmamajigger on it. The alarm promptly went off. Perhaps I should make it my stupid alarm, which I shall set off when someone is stupid...

Hahah.. but they look so pretty!

Fortunately I have METAL in my blood, which is a wonderful form of stress relief as it is a healthy way to vent all that madness and frustration at the world.

Ever notice how a lot of metalheads tend to be really calm, friendly, laid back people?

That'll be the Cannibal Corpse records, I bet you.

I work as a chef in a high-volume, high-end restaurant and work at a college campus as a menu advisor and trainer, so I have my stressful moments. What I do is go home, cook something for myself that I find comforting, grab either a Jack straight and a TsingTao or a Diet Coke and write my menus foir tomorrow, followed by a hot as hell shower, sit on the couch and fucking veg. Or listen to either Flogging Molly or Fatboy Slim (Shut Up).

Stress is something that everyone deals with, granted not everyone deals with it in healthy ways all the time. Personally I find that running long distances, beating the ever living fuck out of the heavy bag that is hanging in my basement, or a nice round COD 5 or Left 4 Dead because there's nothing quite like stabbing the goddamn banzai attacker that tried to impale you in the neck, or setting hordes of the undead on fire with a Molotov cocktail. Though this is not always the case and the wall occasionally suffers, my knuckles bear the scars to prove it. That's just about all I got for this post.

But there are people who do both. I do some of the first in the form of Tai Chi, and the second in the form of Muay Thai and MMA training. I also found weight lifting does the trick for me. In fact I have noticed that if I am really pissed or even just angry about something when I start my regimen, I actually find the exercises become easier. I also listen to the soundtracks from Kickboxer and Bloodsport.

I usually just isolate myself in my own room if possible. Just curling myself up into a ball while I think of some very inspiring poems or lyrics.

Recently, I've found a certain piece of music so CUTE, that whenever I think of it, I instantly enter a level of ultimate relaxation. It's just difficult remembering that I have a wonder-solution sometimes.

If you have any interest in gaming at all, you need to track a copy of that game down and play it.
