The police should stop looking for murderers and rapists ad arrest teenagers texting during class!
They're a danger to society!

While I think the idea of a 'security officer' (not entirely sure what this means...a guy on site who has police powers, actually a police officer, what?) to deal with students that a teacher can't because of the various restrictions is a good idea, I think charging her with a...umm...misdemeanor, whatever the hell that is, basically charging her with a crime for disobeying a teacher, is a bit much. Take the phone, remove her from class, exclude her for a week or put her in detention or whatever, but a criminal conviction?

On a side note, she was clearly getting her boyfriend to text her while the phone was stuffed up her ass on vibe mode. Thats what I'm imagining anyway...

Bring back the cane!

Seriosuly teens [13-16] and younger are just getting more and more, for lack of a better term 'Feral'
i mean there was an instance of 2 13 year olds murding some adults for their phones, and their punishment? a slap on the wrist and 'dont do it again' speech

Its ridiculous
[p.s: im not that old, only 23 lol]

fuck tha police
Dead on the money. She'll come back from this with at MOST a minor fine and having to deal with her parents ineffective flip-outs or "whatever" etc and be right back to normal in a month tops.

Take the phone, don't give it back until the end of the year. Worst that happened here is the parents would have to come in to claim it back, and the best case scenario is the last day of school; you bring out the box of junk and make it a big spectacle of you handing it all back. This always worked in my schools, and people should know better then to expect the police to magically fix all their problems.

(because police aren't wizards, that isn't their job)

I have to say that arresting the spoiled morons who bring a 'FUCK DA POLICE AND TEECHERS 2' attitude to a fucking classroom deserve this shit.

Although personally, I'd have warned twice, then said 'Alright then. Everyone, thanks to stupid ***** here, I'm tripling ALL your homework.' Probably followed by her getting pelted with soap in socks.

Police shouldn't be in schools, end of
Not for a bitchy teenage girl and a teary teacher who can't keep her class in control anyways.
If it's a severe case of bullying or arson etc i think the police can and should be involved but this is WAAAYY too trivial

I'm fine with it, about damn time teachers are able to deal with these snot nosed brats once again.
I agree. Teachers need their power back its ridiculous how much they have lost. Kids just get everything handed to them on a silver plate, and when I see that it bugs the shit out of me. I have made my life on my own; my apartment, car, meds, gaming systems, and the lot.
Sorry that got a bit tangental...
Anyways I think she deserved a misdemeanor charge, she needed to learn a lesson in obeying authority.

That's pretty outrageous.
Only in the US.

I live in Sweden for those of you who are too lazy to check my profile.
If a teacher told me to stop texting I'd either do it, or if it was important, tell them I had to answer it. If they didn't care they could ignore me or ask me to leave the classroom.
But teachers confiscating cell phones? I think that's outrageous enough, the teacher has no such right.

Teachers have little to no authority.
In my opinion the teacher should be fired or at least be forced to leave the school for a few weeks.

This is what America is coming to. This is why I want out. This is only the beginning. Things are going to get much worse in the next few years. I hate this country...

Ok i think a main point a lot of you are missing, is that she was hiding it in her butt. In order to avoid criminal charges on the Teacher in question, they would need her to be frisked with proper authority. I mean its seriously crafty on her part, but just makes it a gigantic pain for the Teacher when he asked her to stop. Maybe the texts had to do with TERRORISM!!!!
