Oh wow, knifing problems?

Here in Chicago we have shootings, and then after both kids have shot each other, they pull out their knives and stab anyone who was watching.

And don't even get me started on chinatown...

Knives are for scared little chavs. Real men bring alligators to school.
*30 posts from the 1337 post... I wonder how I will waste that occasion*

It is becoming a trend. I know of two friends who brings them, but for self-defense.
Sadly I know this is true, for they have pissed off quite a few people.

Metal detectors. It makes sense, and I'll explain my PoV if needs be.
Does this mean that it is illegal to bring knives to school in the US? Doesn't it depend on your intentions?

Couldn't tell you, I'm English. But I suppose it could...what ulterior motives could a kid have for bringing a knife to school?

1. Oh, sorry for that assumption.
2. I don't know and I was surprised myself when I heard it but: (In Sweden) Depending on their intentions, students can bring knives to school if they want to. (Probably as long as they don't intend to hurt/threaten anyone or vandalize.)

Fifteen dollar battle axes, need I say more?
No, thank you. At least not in this thread 8P but there is one where they post ideas for new and original games - maybe you could continue there.

I brought a pocket-knife to school almost every day. That said, it was only on a basis of self-defense, in case I ever got jumped and there was no way to escape.

My school was fairly ghetto, so we've had quite a few stabbings. However usually, the 'hood rats just swear at the staff, do drugs, and destroy stuff.

Atkinson will blame video games
I took a knife to school by accident once, it was after a cadet weekend and I had forgoten to take my pokcet knife out of my bag.
In year 7 a guy came in with a steak knife wrapped in paper shoved down his sock, but he was a weirdo and claimed that people shot him on the way back from school. This was in middle class England so everyone found that highly amsuing.

Yeah, I do. I think really young people nowadays are becoming more "grown up". I never used to swear until about grade 6 (which means I was about 12) and now I'm hearing about 8 to 10 year olds swaering like sailors, making sex jokes and references and it's just... weird.

My school hasn't ad anything involving knives as of yet. Well, there was this German exchange student who was rumoured to bring a knife everywhere, but that's unconfirmed speculation.

At least here, it is illegal unless you have the required permissions.

Yes, I believe they are. When I was in Year 7 the Sixth Formers were terrifying and we avoided them. Now that I'm in Sixth Form the Year 7s are little shits. I am fairly certain it is because someone said we weren't allowed to punch them if they got too out of their respective little depths.

Maybe it's just because everyone is stupid. I haven't met anyone smart in a lower year for rather a while now, and it disturbs me greatly.

I wonder if it correlates with the government ban on smacking children, or should we just blame the parents anyways, because it is always the fault of the parents.

Actually fuck it, I blame Katie Price and hope this enough to get her liquidated.

People in my school may have knives but they are not stupid enough to take it out and threaten people with it.

1. Don't be sorry, I don't mind at all.
2. Ah true, it could be on the basis of self defence or something.

Well, not in my school... but then again, I go to an incrediby posh private school which causes a huge fuss whenever they find someone with a little bit of weed (Leighton Park School), so I think my opinion is a bit biased.

That said, my previous school, one of the worst schools in my town, never actually had any stabbings... sure, it had alcohol/drug/tobacco, child abuse and even pedophilia, but no stabbbings.

Strange I know.
Shit son, I used to go to LP. Got kicked out a couple years ago for getting hammered and telling the headmaster to go fuck himself.

haha, yeah we recently got another couple of students kicked out for taking drugs... + apparently there was a fight, and so John Dunston (headmaster... he's retiring this year :p) had a massive speech about it in assembly lol

Efffffffffffff.
There will always be people who do stuff like bring knives and pot and other illegal things to school. It's overreacting though to set up metal detectors in schools. What about art students? We have stanley knives, we need them for class, and we bring them to and from school. I'm not about to stab some one with it, but will security guards believe that? Probably not.
The ridiculous thing is, private schools in Brisbane are not dangerous places at all. Some of the state schools yes, they're a bit rough, but I've been in the private school system my whole life, and so has every single person I know, and this is the only incident of knife-related violence in YEARS. There is no need to bring weapons to school, and stupid show-off kids should learn that.
