That guy's really clever. Also, he must have had some serious guts to do a presentation on MLP to his class and repeat over and over again how awesome it is.

Uuuuuh...
I'll just point out that that isn't quite right.
Quit whining, pony!
I think it's pretty legitimate to point out that Logan confused the kid's name with a character on the show. Even if it is an unofficial name.
You're confusing me, man. You get the Stephen Magnet part but you obviously miss the <url=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=csPPqdbcVwM>whining Rarity reference.

AW FUCK YEAH

Anyone who gets that is a fucking legend.
Why thank you for the compliment!

Soon as I read his name, I expected him to have such a glorious moustache! But alas...

The show features a pony who can use magic from her horn to move objects. YOUR POINT IS INVALID.

I am a lady, and I wish to be addressed as such. You may call me "Cap'n" or "Evey" or "Cap'n Evey"

This got a good laugh from me. Hey, while we're at it let's break down the Sociology behind the show and take a good look at the social class structure and its inherent flaws.

What really annoys me is that on Youtube people praise this guy for his research based off the show. Why doesn't he look into some other shows as well or Anime for that matter? So many things, including realistic movies, do things that aren't accurate to science but yet makes it stand out. If we have limitations on all our animations, then we'd get really board pretty fast or lack interest into it anymore.
MLP is popular, probably got a good laugh out of the class and he only had a limited time to make the presentation. It would be unfair to assume that he didn't look at other shows to examine either but he probably had to choose one show to use as an example to fill his slot.

Fictional physics will always exist for the reason they are entertaining and we don't demand realism in cartoons. It will be a sad day when I see real physics used in a Road Runner cartoon and watch my favorite coyote really get crushed by the rocks of the desert.

That's quite funny.

But there's a common link in 2 of the 3 examples he's using...

they both rely on the mass of a pegasus pony.

In applejack jumping on the seesaw, and launching rainbow dash high into the air, he assumed they had equal mass...

And, in fluttershy landing on a flock of butterflies, he assumed she had a mass based on that of an actual pony of that kind of age...
But... fluttershy is also a pegasus pony...

Further evidence:

In support of pegasus ponies having an unusually low mass:
- Pegasus ponies can walk on clouds, other types of pony cannot do so without magical intervention. It isn't likely that a cloud can support any weight, but if it can, it won't be very much. This suggests an entirely magical explanation, but a low mass would probably help.
- Pegasus ponies have very small wings; OK, so with magic involved the rules aren't very clear. But, the amount of lift & thrust produced by the wings of a pegasus pony would be far too small to do anything useful if the pegasus pony had a normal mass. Either they fly entirely using innate magic, or they have an extremely low mass that makes such small wings useful. Evidence from certain scenes suggest if you bind the wings they can no longer fly, and they use their wings extensively while in the air, so at the very least the magic involved requires at a minimum the appearance of aerodynamic flight.

Against the idea of pegasus ponies having unusually low mass:
- Pegasus ponies routinely interact with earth & unicorn ponies, and when not flying seem of comparable strength. They can hold and lift heavy objects, and generally do not seem to show any of the effects that would be implied if they had a particularly low mass.

The conclusion would suggest pegasus ponies have a mass comparable to that of an ordinary pony, or otherwisse have the ability to magically manipulate their own mass, and that of anything they are holding onto.
With regard to walking on clouds we know many have the ability to alter the weather, and build structures made of cloud.
This suggests an ability to manipulate the structure of a cloud with an extremely high degree of precision.

Unfortunately, whatever is going on is firmly in the category of 'magic', and not 'physics'. However, magic frequently displays rules of some sort, but it isn't entirely clear what those are in this instance, or what changes to physics are implied by the ability of a pegasus pony to fly.

I would hate to be the guy after him. That is awsome. If you want your presentation to stand out do something different, and do something unexpected.

It looks to me like it was a school assignment to analyze the physics of a tv show. He chose MLP. I don't see the problem.
