Nono, Vancouver! We love you long time!
You guys really think that moving to a city where the average home price is $1 000 000 is a good idea for a student? I like Vancouver as well, but the housing prices are ridiculous.
Yeah, but... uh... you... oh! Move to Coquitlam! That's where I'm from, anyways, and it's not too bad... as long as you don't want to live on the mountain, anyways.

@ redlin5. (im to noob to do the whole snip thing)

well if its possible to take two degrees at the same time, I have a pretty huge interest in history/politics.

So maybe I could mix English with history?

Saving up. So I would have to save up, and then apply for a student visa?
Or probaly apply to a Canadian university first. Maybe contact one, ask them about the best way to do it.

Do you have any tips on Universitys that would be good for a foreign student like me? (Im not thinking Harward/Yale'ish stuff :) )

Check out Montreal for sure, even if you don't know any French there are lots of English speaking people there. More importantly it's a beautiful city with loads of opportunities.(I'm looking at moving there for my university years)

As for actually getting in to Canada...shouldn't be hard, our immigration laws and whatnot are fairly lax.

Sure, go ahead and contradict what I just said. On the bright side, Torontonians DID invent the National Pillow Fight League. Yeah, you heard me.
Man, Canada just gets more awesome every time I hear something new about it. XD

Pillow-fighting needs to be an international sport!

Hey, anybody who opposes pillow-fighting as a sport has something broken in the brain-pan. Pillow-fighting is fucking awesome and I'm sad that grownups never have sleepovers just for that reason. XD

Alternatively, if we can't have pillow-fighting, can we have Kosho? That thing from the Prisoner where they karate-fight on trampolines over a swimming pool?

I think I may move to Canada soon, but living in Australia and it's heat, I'm afraid I'll freeze to death when I try to acclimatize. I spent a week in Tasmania and holy shit it was freezing.

Oy, the mountain... Good times and bad up on that god damn mountain...

Port Moody's small, starting to build up and has a really nice community. The main strip isn't big but it's amazing. And a quick bus away from Coquitlam station, my zombie-holdout position.

If it's the mountain I think he's talking about, behind Coquitlam Center, it's not much more than a really big hill. Takes about an hour to walk up at my pace, to where I lived, and there are roads and houses on it. Not really a mountain in that sence, but I can't think of anything else that would qualify being called a mountain in Coquitlam.

Or is it not worth the airfares.

I wish I could tell you more, I'm just learning about the whole application business myself as I graduate from Highschool this year. You could mix English with Politics. We could use some politicians with common sense here.

I don't know what University would be ideal for you... The best universities are also in the most expensive cities to live in here. I wish you the best of luck in finding information regarding post secondary schooling here.

Also, if you want to get into snipping, I recommend you go here. It changed me from n00b to experienced.

I hope my comrades welcome you with typical Canadian hospitality when/if you visit.

Mmmkay:
If you're conservative: Move to Alberta (I'm in Edmonton, home of Bioware).
If you're liberal: Move to Ontario (Ottawa is nice, stay out of Toronto).
If you like flatlands: Move to Saskatchewan.
If you like mountains: Eastern Alberta/Middle of B.C. (Try Abbotsford)
If you like the ocean: B.C. (Victoria, or Vancouver if you can afford it) or the Maritimes (Prince Edward Island is nice).
If you like heat: Any coast will do.
If you like the cold: Check out northern Alberta (Edmonton is a great cold spot) or any of the territories (if you feel adventurous).

Once you've chosen your location, take a vacation there. If you like it, move there.

We'll almost always welcome you in, and the necessary health care is free. Good luck choosing what to do.

Come to the GTA! Toronto and Mississauga have many great educational institutions, and are close to other major universities like Waterloo, Western, Laurier.
The GTA has many job opportunities, nice people, and a CLEAN ENVIRONMENT. Toronto is the largest city in the country, and one of the largest in North America yet is still a friendly place. There are plenty of jobs, and residences available as well. Only go out west if you want an "America Light" experience.
