Engaging action gameplay without killing enemies. This is mostly from me wondering if it's actually possible to accomplish.

Also, a fantasy setting that is not "classic".

Female characters that aren't there to have good T&A.

More gay characters that aren't stereotypes

More protagonists that aren't just white middle aged men with a 5 o'clock shadow.

Any things that you always really want from games that rarely gets put in games?

Personally, why is it that there are so few fantasy games that let me play as my favourite fantasy race, the dwarves? Part of me thinks it's something to do with having to design the game around more than one standard character height. But still...it's kinda annoying that I so rarely get to play as that race.
You mean aside from Dragon Age?

I'm guessing part of it has to do with the writing. Because Dwarves in fantasy games are all written exactly the same way - which is to say how Tolkien wrote them. Personally, I find them kinda boring. Much like Elves. At least Dragon Age did something slightly different with Elves.

As for the standard character height, I don't think thats such an issue. You do get lots of dwarves in fantasy games (as npcs) and Mass Effect has races of different heights and shapes - granted, not as playable characters - but they're still in there. One element I think that effects it is traversal. Dwarves wouldn't be able to jump as high or run as fast.

Saying that, even though its first person, I do really like the subtle touch in Borderlands 2 where your perspective is different depending upon which character you're playing. Playing as Zero or Maya and then switching to Salvador or Gaige and you really notice. They're tiny!

Back OT, I'd like to, for once, see a true moral choice system which doesn't revolve around being pure good/evil, to the degree where you might as well chose at the start of the game, AND to have it actually make a difference in the game. There are very few games that I've played where this occurs. As someone mentioned above, RDR has shades of this, in how people act towards you, but even then, its kinda simple.

Maybe next gen...

I agree. Just because dwarves need to stand on a box to look people threateningly in the ye doesn't mean you can discriminate against them.

So give us more dwarves, or we'll chop yer legs off!

Easter eggs or just random extra crap. Unlockable costumes, fun little things like taunting, BS items you use for the giggles (like a bat with nails instead of a sword), a reference or callout to something else. Those things always make me smile and makes it feel like the devs really cared for their game.
Some Easter Eggs are a very missed addition to games. I don't see them near enough anymore.

What I want to see most in modern games are cheat codes and unlockables. Even cheat codes you can unlock. Uncharted[i/] and Uncharted 2 did this. I wish Uncharted 3 did it. Older games like Minority Report did this. It's a way to have fun dicking around in the game whatever way you like.

Cheat codes, unlockables and unlockable cheat codes. Bring them back!
