We've all had it. You're doing something you really don't want to do, drowning in the sea of how bad it all is (bad film, bad TV show, bad whatever) when suddenly, out of absolutely F-ing nowhere, something happens in it that makes you just think "holy shit, that was amazing!"

For you, what were those moments?

My most recent one comes when I was finally forced into watching "Step Up 2". I know, I know. It was against my will, but I did watch it. Anyway, here I was bored out of my mind and barely paying attention, when THIS happens:

Seriously. All the other dancing, or at least most of it, in that film failed to really impress me. But for some reason this little sequence made me really, really pay attention to it.

The Happening, by M. Knight Shayamalan. Seriously, that movie rocked my socks. Why?
Because it was just barely plausible enough for me to understand- I do experiments with some fringe-science-people, so this made sense- and silly enough to be entertaining. It was mildly scary, a bit thrilling and all around, the best B-movie in ages. And yet, everybody hates it.

Scrubs and my name is Earl
the usual brand of American comedies we're subjected to in Britain is whatever Channel 4 can afford
usually some shite like Friends, Will and Grace, two and a half men or Everbody loves Raymond

So naturally i wasn't expecting much from these two
but i gave them a go
and fell in love with both of them completely
changed my entire perspective on American comedy

It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia. That show looked retarded in the ads but its great. Also, How to Train Your Dragon, from the people who still think Shrek is good.

D&D, I thought it would be incredibly nerdy, and boring as fuck; and while it is incredibly nerdy it is awesome as all hell.

Never Back Down. If you go in, expecting it to be bad, you won't be disappointed. But aside from every cliche ridden line/conversation/scene, an 18 year old giving life lessons to a 40 year old, and Sean Faris' just generally bad acting, its not horrible. The last 15 minutes have some pretty decent fighting.

Two worlds. Horrible voice acting. Horrible combat animation. Not exactly easy to get along with interface. Terrible plot. Very little character customisation.

Suddenly, political intrigue! Dragons! Rival guilds! Different scenery as you explore! Really nice swords!

Yeah everyone hates two worlds and with good reason, doesn't stop me strangely loving it though :p

One Piece. Watched the first episode, thought "screw this shit!".

Then I gave it another chance, and now I freaking love it.

Whilst I liked the first episode of Chuck I saw (which, by pure coincidence, happened to be a re-run of the pilot despite the show being 2 series in), I never expected to love it so much.

It's fucking brilliant.

Scott Pilgrim vs. The World.

"Oh, look. a Michael Cera movie where he plays a sexually frustrated everyman who ends up with a woman much more attractive than him through comical circumstancesSWEET DANCING TUESDAY, THIS MOVIE IS FREAKING AWESOME."

Fun action sequences, a ton of shout-outs, Mae friggin' Whitman... and Cera gets punched in the face multiple times. Good cinema.

Tremors. Let's get one thing out of the way, I hate horror movies. Suddenly, Burt Gummer and his wall o' guns. Awesome.

Anime. Until recently, all the anime I'd ever seen came through 4Kids. I don't believe I have to expand on that at all.

Juno. I'm not gonna lie, I always wanted to see it, but I didn't think it would be that awesome.

Kung Fu Panda. Virtually every other animated Dreamworks film exists in my mind as barely passable shlock but I surprisingly liked Po's antics.

Yeah I second Scott pilgrim as-well.

Just when the film got boring, something just came out of nowhere and made me yell "fucking win!".

You know, this made me think of a question. Are there ever British remakes of American comedies? I've seen American remakes of Britcoms, and they are just awful.
