Stupidest reason you've ever been insulted

This topic might be born from anger (and a dash of incredulity), but when I thought about it I realized that it was something that might be good for a few laughs and I got to wondering: What are some of the stupidest, strongly projecting, completely baseless reasons that someone has insulted you?

What spawned this topic; I commented on an IMDb news story about the SAG award winners, explaining to another user how to pronounce Best Actor winner Jean Dujardin's name (he was commenting that he should change his name because it sounded feminine, obviously pronouncing it Jean (JEEN), recommending he change it to Gene and alter his surname. Another person commented not long afterward saying the same thing). A person responded to me calling me an "ignorant and brainless idiot". Why? Because my name is Warren Douglas. That's it. Never commented on what I said, never gave a reason (as internet tough guys rarely do), just told me that my name was stupid and to "change your f---ng name you ignorant and brainless idiot", as if I had any choice in what my parents named me.

Even if I did I would never change my name because I was named after my grandfather who died of cancer 10 years before I was born.

I didn't dignify that with a response, just reported it, but that's my story. Because I have a moderately uncommon first name and a fairly common last name, I am apparently a complete waste of space. I'm often horrified and strangely fascinated at the lengths people online will go to in order to find a way of demeaning others, but this is the stupidest I've had thrown at me personally.

So, fellow Escapists, what's your story?

Well my brother called me an imbecile because I didn't panic during an earthquake (it was somewhat strong but not destructive strong, also I never panic), I always thought that was stupid and I still tease him about it.
So yeah I am an idiot because I am able to remain calm during an earthquake.
But then again he also got mad at me because I didn't care about all the stuff that burned inside my car when it got burnt, but given the fact that I though he and my other brother died I really couldn't give a shit about my electronics.

I've had personal insults thrown at me multiple times online for uploading MLP:FiM related videos on my Youtube channel. The solution was rather simple: block their comments.

Life's too short to be butthurt over cartoon ponies, particularly when you can avoid it (I put the videos on a separate playlist from my previous uploads). If you don't like it, don't watch it, simple as that.

A few months ago, my little brother stared texting my boyfriend (Who I live with) saying "Mums just bought me Skyrim! At least I don't have to work and spend my own money on games I want!" Soon followed with him trying to call us 'lazy' for not having better jobs (We get paid more than minimum wage for a 21 year old and we both just turned 20) and saying we're "Too lazy to even learn to drive"

All this from someone who can't be bothered to go to college OR find a job? =/

Being White and hanging around with only one other whitey and a bunch of non whites.

Crashing my bike, by the person who caused the car crash that i tried to avoid before crashing also.

As a young girl (15 or so) I once walked into a small restaurant with a friend.

There weren't that many tables left and she wanted to sit down at a table that was intended for 4 people. So I said: "Let's not sit there. That'd be a bit ugly."
Some random guy I'd never seen before was sitting at a table near that with his girlfriend. He looked up, glanced at me and said, in all earnestness: "You know what's ugly? Your f**ing face."

He wasn't even trying to make a bad joke. He was seriously angry and insulting.

It was such a weird and pointless remark to make. I'd never seen the guy before, didn't know him, he didn't know me and apparently he just felt the need to lash out. I guess he was having a bad day, but as a young, insecure teenager, that remark ruined my week.

He probably misheard you and thought you called his girlfriend ugly.

I've never heard of someone using Ugly to describe anything other than the physical appearence of something, certainly not "that would be unpleasent" so I'd assume it was aimed at somebody too.

Once for being Asian.
Mind you, I'm only half Asian, my father is Irish/Italian and my mother is Thai/Chinese.
I'm just as American as anybody else, born and raised here all my life. I don't get the train of thought that goes into that remark.

No, he heard it correctly. The conversation I was having at the time was in Dutch. (I'm bilingual) Perhaps something got lost in translation. Let me clarify ;)

The literal Dutch word I used was "Antisocial", as in 'rude'. In Dutch you can use that word for an action that would not be considered socially correct. But when applied to a person's looks, it can be used to mean "ugly / horrific / etc".

My friend asked me whether we should sit at the larger table, to which I replied: "Naw, that'd be antisocial."
At which point the guy looked up at me and proclaimed: "You know what's antisocial? That f***ing face of yours"

Ugly was just the best translation I could find for the word in order to describe this particular instance ;-) After all, the meaning is still the same. Sorry if it got confusing ;)

Coz of my skin colour, I think it's stupid to insult anyone over there colour, there are always more creative ways to insult someone. Don't go for the obvious it only makes you look like a simpleton. Get creative instead.

For owning consoles, being a consoletard, and destroying his right as a PC gamer to play decent games. When it's in arguments about games I'm used to that. When it's an argument about the abstract quantum physics that I specialize in, it's somewhat misplaced.

*Internet Brofist* My middle name is my grandfather's name who also happened to die a couple months after I was born due to cancer.

OT: I got insutled because I was smart. There's one dumb girl I work with that tells me I'm too smart and that I should shut up. "You're too smart. Why don't you get stupider or something."

Obviously she needs to get learned real bad. Cuz I dont bee stoopid. Iz smart n stuf.

Because of my job. This was while I was acting in a haunted fucking trail (not my best paying job but my most awesome job ever). I was gushing online and got hit with an, "Oh, you act?! Haha-snark-snark-go-fuck yourself buddy." or something along those lines. I haven't been that badly insulted when I worked for Gamestop (not counting the insults I hurl at myself or, the insult I got every time I checked my bank account's balance)

Also was insulted when I got my ear pierced but that's a whole different beast in itself.

1. Because my eyes were blue. Something about me having "Nazi-eyes." *facepalm*
2. Because I dislike watermelon.
3. I sold a muscle car for something more economical. Got called cheap.
4. Didn't immediately start calling everyone I know after going through a tornado. Had bigger issues.
5. Had large shoes. I wouldn't have given them to them anyways.

... I think that's enough.

Ah yes - the "it's cool to be dumb" attitude. I'm glad people grow out of that quickly, because I was never a part of that movement, and it lead to some wilfully stupid people acting weirdly elitist towards me.
