Stupidest rule in school...

my middle school dint allow blue jeans, u could wear any other jeans, just not blue ones, they changed it last year on my last year there
At my old middle school, everything was sexual harrassment, punishable by referral or suspension:
Shaking hands-Inappropriate touching
Touching shoulder while talking- Also inappropriate touching
Complimenting someone's looks- Inappropriate conversation.
Hugging- You were obviously overpowering them so you could rape them... in front of the principle...somehow.

I wore a shirt with a MAPLE leaf on it and was told to change into one of the nasty (read: lice, sweat, dirt) shirts in the hwealth room because i had a pot leaf on it.
I wore a shirt with a fist as part of a design, same story, the person with a skull, and money, and bloody text? Nothing wrong.

OT: We pretty much doesn't have any rules except maybe no drinking during class which isen't odd considering we all have laptops what we work with and if somebody spill it could be pretty expensive..
Getting rid of corporal punishment was the biggest mistake the public schools ever made. My wife is a kindergarten teacher and she has kids who won't listen to her no matter what she does. Anything you tell them goes in one ear and out the other. No 'time out', missing recess, talks with the principal, being sent home (to parents who all too often won't discipline their own children and let them walk all over them), etc: none of it works with some of these kids. They know that the teachers can't really do anything to them that is truly unpleasant or has any real consequences. Some of them have no respect for authority at all already and they are only five and six years old.
She has a friend who teaches high school and some of those kids have been raised in this permissive, no real consequences environment for so long that they are openly defiant and even cruel to their teachers. Our school district even has it's own police department and they've had to haul kids away to "Juvi" to keep them from beating up teachers and other kids.
We've got to reinstate corporal punishment again before we have too many more generations of kids who are so arrogant and lacking in self-control and concern for anyone but themselves that some of them even become a danger to themselves and others as young as five and six years old. A couple of years ago, one of my wife's students hit her on the head so hard with a hard plastic bucket that it gave her a goose egg. All my wife did was tell the child to put away the toys he was playing with and get ready to go home. She didn't even raise her voice to the kid and asked in a more than sufficiently polite manner. That's what she got for her trouble. What happened to the kid? He spent a week at home and that was it. Wow. Big deal. The kid hated school and didn't want to be there anyway. He got just what he wanted. Some punishment.

My high school had a couple ridiculous ones.
- You had to wear a white shirt (No design) and black pants. If I recall they attempted to rule out jeans... that never worked. One time for an exam, I was late leaving the house and had on a black shirt without realizing. My V-principal actually was not going to allow me to take my Government exam because of it. Mom was not having any of that.
I suppose not rule breaking per sa but my suspension record is literally a record at my high school. I was suspended over thirty times in three years (before I finally left) for that most mind boggling things. Examples?
- Laughing at something a student teacher did, despite the entire class laughing.
- Teach mistakenly blamed me for knocking over an eraser and announced to the entire class that because of that she was keeping them all after school. She that ignored the relentless threats until I stood up, said "fuck this", left the class and went home. Free week vacation for that.
- Inability to draw and skipping DTs because of it. My art teacher decided we had to draw one of the Marvel characters just by looking at a poster. Now I am a terrible artist and it showed however she believed everyone could draw, it was just a matter of teaching (something she failed miserably at), so eventually I took it home and had somethin else do a poor but easily passable job and now it was too good. So I just thought "screw it, I'm not winning this" and skipped her DTs until I was suspended.
- Arguing with the VP for ten minutes. How did it begin? She brought up something and I disagreed with her, she proceeded to argue.
- Lying to my Freach teacher. She actually decided she would not teach me because of that and thus I spent two months reading strategy guides in her class in one of the comfortable chairs in the back. What was the lie? I said I needed to get something from my looker and after I went, I made a phone call at the pay phone in the school.
The list goes on
Edit: Just remember and this is the universal worst rule of school up until (and sometimes including) college; eighty to ninety percent of what you learn is absolutely worthless to you in a vast majority of real life situations and most of it will long be forgotten because you are never required to use it.
And then they wonder why kids never want to pay attention.
