Didn't they ban Kinder Surprise chocolate eggs from the United States on the grounds that "It's like hiding something within something else, so it teaches kids about contraband".
If not that reason then for some other reason. I just know I heard that they banned them.
It was because of the toy inside.
American kids barely bother to get their candy out of the wrapper before eating it. The idea of candy with a toy in it would not process, and while their corpses were still warm, their parents would scream hysterically until the headlines shouted "GERMAN TERRORISTS KILL YOUR CHILDREN WITH BOOBYTRAPPED CANDY!".
In their attempts to profit, parents would forcefeed their children Kinde Eggs until the courts ruled that parents should read the fucking label before giving their children candy. But it would be too late. The corpses of children would litter the ground by the hundreds, and overcome with remorse, their parents would lynch chocolate retailers in the streets to forget their own shame.
Then, the headlines would come alive again. First in the tabloids, then the major papers. "GOVERNMENT CONSPIRING WITH NAZIS TO DESTROY OUR FREEDOM!!!". To avoid a revolution, the government would have to go to war. First by banning all German imports, and forcing their allies to do the same. Then, by inserting covert teams of Navy SEAL's along the coast, ordered to infiltrate the German population to incite and arm a rebellion.
When thatt failed, they would have to start bombing military targets.
The conflict would be a short affair, with relatively low civilian casualties, but still, mistakes are made...
But fed up with war, the population of the US would come to their senses, trying to wash their hands of the matter. Soldiers would return to their homes, hated and reviled. In the time that followed, thousands of soldiers struck by poverty and PTSD would turn to crime or commit suicide.
In the big picture, the German-American war, or "WWII 2" would not be more than a paragraph in most history books, but it would be a badge of shame upon a nation, an end to Hassehoffs career, and far to big a price to pay for sub-par chocolate and dinky toys.
