The thing with the forest "coming alive" at the end of Macbeth.
That really sucked.
Really? It was just like the other predictions - an ambiguous prophetic statement that ended up meaning something different than he had originally assumed (just like the deal with "none of woman born" and the c-section).
Similarly, it's worth noting that the "it was all just a dream" thing
can be done well. It's often used as a convenient excuse to retcon poor planning, but there are numerous extremely striking uses where it was planned from the beginning. Arguably the first use, the Cabinet of Dr. Caligari is extremely poignant and there have been a lot of other series where the fact that certain things were just dreams makes them
more meaningful. Even the "or was it?" thing has been done quite well before.
As for mine, the thing with the goddamn trees (well maybe, it doesn't even commit to its terrible twist!) killing everyone was pretty bad, but HOLY FUCK the ending to Battlestar Galatica was the most gratuitous asspull in living memory.
