THE WORLD ENDS WITH YOU!

Even though it LOOKS like it's a spawn of KH, it's actually nothing like it. The Dialogue is fresh and witty, the gameplay while overwhelming at first becomes exciting and with the combination of sub-slots, you can land some pretty serious combos. Yeah, there's grinding, but there's a great replay value in the secret reports where you can get info on the environment of the UnderGround Shibuya that wasn't mentioned in the game. Plus the secret ending once you get all of them (including the cracked out Another Day), is .. well, confusing to say the least, but it totally works.

That's definitely one I'll be plugging for a while. You can FEEL the pulse of Shibuya as you run through the city, the trends and while it does tread familiar JRPG territory, the characters are all different and they do grow and they do change and clash and grow. Which is something missing from most games. Definitely, definitely check out TWEWY. :)

PS: I also loved Okami :3
Agreed. The World Ends With You was a beauty in my opinion. I always play my DS with the light on its lowest setting to save battery power, but TWEWY made me turn up the brightness to full so it could do the graphics justice.
I got Okami on the Wii and it simply blew my mind. The style was amazing, it took some serious will power to tear myself away from that game.
Wind Waker and No More Heroes are close runners up for good style.

Zone of the Enders 2 one of the few games that got cell shading right. Another good example of this kind of style has been mentioned in this thread XIII.

XIII and anyone that disagrees!...well, they disagree...that or throwing knives at dawn!
I loved that game and have recently pick it up again. The lighting on my new TV is deplorable and had to use throwing knives (ftw) and how long it took for then to hit something to navigate through some air ducts but I still love that game.

Did no one play Jet Set Radio Future? That game has to be one of the most artistically creative games of all time. Every environment seemed inspired, colorful and exciting.

Shadow of the Colossus was also extremely powerful. I think the third boss, where you're on that huge platform over the lake ... When I saw that, I knew it was the pinnacle of gaming at that time.

Morrowind. The curse of monkey island. Gothic 3.

Penumbra, that is one game that looked so amazing I didn't even care about the story (which is awesome) for a few minutes in the first scene.

Pirates of the Caribean, there's not many games out there that can make me just sit back and watch a travel sequence, amazed, and just go wow.

Mount and blade as well, the latest version is just amazing. And while I can't really say so myself, seeing as it's not released, and I'm one of the people making it (in the graphics department even) Warrior of Eternity has awesome graphics, in much thanks to Vlad :p

Half-Life 2 Episode 1 has an excellent ability to bring the style of 'crowded city with war debris and killed people' to home. Violently.

Battlefield Heroes.
