Yesterday I completed Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic which was going cheap on steam. A great game, by the way.

Today I sat down for some R&R and realised I don't have any games I currently want to play.

I'm in the mood for something along the lines of Empire: Total War, which unfortunately glitches on my rig so I can't play it.

So, I'm here begging for suggestions what to get next. Doesn't have to be exactly like E:TW, but single player, with some element of strategy would be nice. Any thoughts?

The original C&C and Red Alert games are free now if you haven't already played them...

Hmmmm we favour the classics? :)

I loved C&C and StarCraft, been long enough that I could do with replaying StarCraft. Good idea!

Free? How so? I have played them, but I don't have copies of anything before RA:2 lying about and would like to add the older ones to the collection.

Thanks for the suggestions guys.

Starcraft and Warcraft 3.
Both will run fine, as Starcraft is 13 years old and Warcraft 3 is around 5.

Age of Empires II, fun campaigns and an easy to use map editor. If you get it get the Conquerors expansion with it.

This page has links to where you should be able to download them: http://forums.commandandconquer.com/jforum/posts/list/6967.page#104235

Don't worry; EA released them to celebrate various anniversaries (10th?) and also create free advertising for the latest versions, so its perfectly legal.

Age of Mythology and Warcraft 3.

IMO AoM is the better RTS (personal taste though, and for singleplayer) and WC3 has a better campaign

Sword of the Stars (with the three expansions (Born of Blood, A Murder Of Crows, Argos Naval Yard) they really add content to a otherwise half-finished game) or possibly for more real-time, the Sins of a Solar Empire. For more traditional RTS games, C&C Generals and it's expansion Zero Hour are excellent.

Of course, the earlier versions of the Total War, such as Medieval 2: Total War or Rome:Total War are excellent and work with older machines.

If your going for CnC go with Generals or Tiberium Wars.

I'm currently hooked on both (again).

Rome: Total War? Medieval II: Total War? Warcraft 3 is good too and I've always been a fan of Age of Mythology. Homeworld and Homeworld 2 are great games if you're into space games.

Everyone in here is wrong. Company of Heroes is the winner.

Don't really know if it's any good singleplayer though.

If you want some big scale stuff, Hearts of Iron series, and ofcourse the old Civilization stuffs.
