I used to not like Westerns much. They all seemed the same to me. Then I did a project on them. And I discovered Unforgiven. 310 to Yuma's pretty good too.

Unforgiven and The Outlaw Josey Wales are my two favorite. Both starring Clint Eastwood, and both mentioned here already (but they deserved to be listed again).

I'd also say The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance, Dances with Wolves, The Cowboys, and the Man with No Name trilogy.

Well, you really should start with "The Good The Bad and The ugly" Its a classic.
"Quick in the dead" is also awesome. There are a ton of Clint Eastwood movies out there too.
Id also suggest "Saki Yuki Western Django" Its a Tarantino film, and is a Japanese western. Id suggest it, but its not quite a true western.

many of the obvious choices have been mentioned already, so my only recommendation would be to watch them all; Westerns are the shit.

Give this a try too. It is set in Australia so isnt technically a Western. However it shares the same time period and themes of many Westerns and its a brilliant if horrible, film.

And besides, Ray Winstone is in it. What more do you need?

In addition to the previous mentions, Bruce Campbell fans should look into The Adventures of Brisco County Jr.

It's not a western in the same vein as Silverado or Tombstone, but I did enjoy Ravenous. And I'll second The Adventures of Brisco County Jr. That was just a fun show.

For movie lovers, I'd say Shane is a must-see. There's a lot of references to that film in quite a few movies and seeing the movie gives those references context.

Oh yeah, the Magnificent Seven...not so much the sequel though.

Though it always seems a bit weird to me, in that the theme music was used for a very long running set of ads for beer. The theme music is awesome though.

I'll give you the best dang western I've ever seen!

Shanghai Noon! It's got Jackie Chan and Owen Wilson!

Captcha: "Together Again". Come again? Oh, yes! It even got a sequel that did not disappoint! Shanghai Knights!

Those two are full of a lot of action, adventure, and humor. If you're looking for something longer and more serious, I would strongly recommend Into the West.

I'm gonna throw up Firefly/Serenity for this list.

...

It totally counts! Don't look at me like that.

Hey there Escapist! This is not your typical "suggest" thread, where you give someone animes to watch, this thread is all about giving me westerns to watch.

besides "The Good, The Bad and the Ugly"(which i have not seen) i know not any western that are out there and worth watching, so if you could kindly suggest something after this to watch, i would be grateful
Once upon a time in the west, Unforgiven, The Assassination of Jessie James by the Coward Robert Ford, No Country for Old Men.
