Well, this happened [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K8foDBekOYM]
Ok. Much more numb than I thought I'd be when this day came.
I did feel more tension than I usually did with Matt and Pat. I thought that was just me. I had a rough couple of months. so I took everything was a harsh tone. Apparently, though, they are no longer friends.
One of the reasons this sucks for me especially is because I'm in a place where I literally have no long time friends near me. I moved away from the Tri-state area in New York for business opportunities. I miss going to my friends' houses and playing some games and laughing all night long. I got a good simulation with that with Friday Night Fisticuffs [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iixYVYW9pJQ&list=PL57hJfweW_2tfzwu20AirdgPTjBgHadqd]. It was something I looked forward to every week.
This also sucks because the Super Couch Fighters [https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCcROEQoAWOmcppZ6RTTLx6w] broke up in September. I actually laughed more at their stuff than I did Super Best Friends, because they were more into fighting games and that's just one of my favorite genres ever.
It's making me realize how much I depend on youtubers for Familiar Bonds, and how that is unhealthy. I can't work things out with the people I like. I can't treat them better or have a say in what happens. I'm a passive user of content that people actually get paid for. They don't have any loyalty to me. They don't know me.
On the same, it's hard once you get a certain age to find new friends. Literally, I've 'known' and 'laughed with' Super Best Friends when they were Two Best Friends Play. When my friends has less time because they had kids and I didn't, I could still be the single guy 'doing' the same thing with video games and laughing. I just discovered Super Couch Fighters earlier this year when Jessie Cox started to do S"uper Animoo Fighters".
Laughs are laughs. Discussions are Discussions. But when you're really not taking part of it, it's a hold over that might not be beneficial.
I guess it's time to look at my media consumption in a different way. I don't do twitter and stuff like that. I guess I've just been passive all this time. It's probably time to form real connections, but it really gets hard with age.
Anyway, question time. How intertwined are your favorite Social Media Personalities with your life? Have you thought of it? How do you think you'd feel if one of your favorite social media outlets stopped producing content?
Hey mods? This thought was still forming in my brain as I was typing. Originally I had this in Video games because it dealt with Video Game LPers, but maybe this belongs more in Off-Topic Discussion as I got to my main point. Could I get a move?
