I curious about that too, but what can I say I love me some Smash Brothers. I hope it's more like how Melee was because I find that Melee was way better than Brawl.

No need for those, from what I have seen lurking around, people tend to agree with you on this one. Or, you know, not care.
One can never be too careful. I've suffered from flames based on my opinion of what my favorite Final Fantasy is and I'd rather not take any chances. XD

Alright everyone, let's get our respective hype meters prepared and ready to explode.

To celebrate, lets take a look back at this 6 year old trailer for Brawl:

Nah, Melee was better than brawl.

As a fighter anyway, the controls were tighter and it just wasn't as painfully floaty.

Also, no tripping.

6 year old?

Man....I feel old...

OT: I just hope there's a bigger leap like the one from the original Smash to Melee. That, and less "more of the same" clone characters.

Well, to be fair, the original Smash wasn't really much of a game to begin with. There wasn't much put into it development-wise, and the creators were so unsure of it that they only intended it to be a Japan-only exclusive. It just happened to be lightning in a bottle, and took off.

Melee, by contrast, WAS a major undertaking, and was a major leap BECAUSE there was so little to the original Smash. So it's understandable that the leap between Brawl and Melee wasn't quite so drastic. And to be fair, Brawl actually had LESS clone characters than Melee did.

I don't know what you need the shield for most people feel that way.

Love me some Smash Bros.

Hopefully the online multiplayer portion will have more longevity than it's Wii counterpart.
I think MiiVerse will help with the longevity of the multiplayer.

I always forget the number of clone characters in melee even if I remember when the 16 year old version of myself complained about it. Even if some characters are clones in brawl, they do have different playstyles.

Anyhow, I'd like more different characters. If clone characters must be included, I, at least, would like a twist with them. Ganondorf was a very slower version of Captain Falcon, but gave tougher blows...That, and the side B attack in mid-air created a nice kamikaze move.

Well I'm one of the few who actually prefers Brawl (after you turn off the smash ball so the game doesn't devolve into "chase the glowy floaty thing") so maybe I should put a bubble shield up. :C

OT: Now where's that Kermit gif when you need it. I'm quite excited to see what they come up with and how hard they'll have to backpedal on the promised WiiU-3DS connectivity. In any case it'll be hours of fun and hype from now on!

I'm hoping the 3DS version isn't just the shit version >.>
What I'm hoping is that it's a very different experience from the Wii U version. One of the reasons the PS3-Vita cross platforms games don't work is because they're the same title so logically people are only going to buy one version of it. Make a version that's different and supplements the console version then you've got something interesting and groundbreaking.

I'm still a bit apprehensive about the idea of a 3DS version that can play with its big brother. It worked for All Stars because the Vita is a monster, but the gap between the Wii U and the 3DS is much, much larger. It could really drag down the Wii U game if they want to keep it functional on the 3DS unless the interplay between versions is just really limited.

Well they got it working for Monster Hunter 3 ultimate more or less. Too be honest, I am just happy there is a 3DS version (knocks on wood) so I won't have to buy a Wii U.

OT: Awesome! Super Smash Bros. is one of my favorite Nintendo IPs. I can't wait.

<color=red>HELL YES!

Erm...so, how 'bout that? I wonder how expensive Wii U's are going to be at the time this is out, because I absolutely need one now...

Why exactly would you need flame shields? I've always felt outnumbered online because I far prefer Brawl to Melee.

Finally, it's coming to fruition. My reason for buying that paper weight. Soon... it will all have been worth it.

I'll be honest, I'm kind of curious. Where exactly can they go with this? Don't get me wrong, I enjoy a good bit of SSB but surely there's only so many characters they have to work with. I guess they'll just have to end up doing stuff like including EVERY Pokemon as a playable character. Though I doubt they'll hit that stage for quite some time. Simply saying because I can't for the life of me think of any particular new characters Nintendo have brought out recently, just the same faces. Maybe I just haven't been paying enough attention.

I fell in love with that teaser (even though the reveal of Samus annoyed me). I was hyped the fuck out for 3 years, so much I literally said to myself "all I have to do is live to the day of it's release". Sad to say I still hate Brawl since the game play was such a let down.

The moral of this post is: DON'T GET HYPED!!!
