I'd love to see some The World Ends With You characters in Smash Bros. I know they're already making an appearance in Kingdom Hearts but I won't be happy until I can beat the shit out of Mario using magical pins.

I also want Mewtwo back, didn't like Lucario much. Or maybe they could just replace him with a different pokemon, maybe Gensect or something.
I'm about to tell you something, ready?: Only Nintendo-owned characters can make an appearance.

I know you're about to yell Snake and Sonic at me, but Nintendo owns the rights to Twin Snakes as well as a certain amount of Sonic.

I think only Capcom characters are the only third party characters that have been announced as a possibility.
That's a shame, I just figured that since TWEWY was on a Nintendo system they could have made an appearance. Oh well.
Nintendo only gave that game their seal of approval (permission to produce it). They have no ownership. So basically, if it's not Nintendo owned in some, way, shape, or form it's not showing up without an announced deal with the publisher. In this case, Nintendo and Sora Ltd would have to make quiiiite a deal with Square-Enix for a character who really doesn't fit in and would break the immersion. Sorry =\
How does that work then? Since when has Nintendo owned any of Sonic or Snake? Metal Gear games have nearly always been primarily PS games and Sonic has always been Multi-Platform.

You could say that Sony owns part of Metal Gear, but it doesn't.
Nintendo owns a certain percentage of SEGA, enough where they have a deal for one Sonic game on one of their systems every year. All true. Google it.

As for MGS: TS, Nintendo was a co-publisher in that. Thus, they did own some rights. Sony has no rights with Snake as they've never been a publishing partner. Plus, Sakurai and Kojima have always been bros.

Character levelling (This is pretty much confirmed)
wait what do you mean by Character levelling? and where was this confirmed?
Sorry I didn't make that clear, I will try and find a source if I can, but Sakurai basically said that he likes the idea of players training their fighters on the 3DS version, and then transferring them to the Wii U to play with them on the big screen.

Captcha: Roast Beef
Ooh okay that sounds pretty awesome, I'm looking forward to that.

Captcha: that's enough

For the most part, I really just want to see character based expansions. I love it for these guys to make it into the next games:

______ Belmont
Bimmy/Jimmy
Bomberman
Ganon (piggy form)
Master Higgins
Megaman
Mii
Missingno.
Mr. Dream
Paper Mario
Pokemon Trainer (Johto, Sinnoh, Hoenn and, Unova trainers)
Sparkster
Tatanga
Tingle
Wart
Dread, Karate, Ninja and/or Sumo Kong

If Nintendo can get Bimmy and Jimmy Lee then they may also get Square-Enix to let them use characters like Geno, Ultros, etc. If they can get any of the Konami characters that would be great too. I don't see them getting any Rare characters but I would still love to see the Battletoads, Banjo and, Kazooie in a SSB title. The only way I see Mega Man making it on a Smash Bros game would be as a 'Fuck You' from Inafune to Capcom.

I actually did think of something I'd love to see in the next Smash Bros:

Retro Modes. Wherein you use original sprites for the characters who are old enough to have them and 'new' 8-bit sprites for the characters who didn't have them. I say retro modes because if they can pull off an 8-bit mode then it's also possible for a 16-bit mode as well. Think along these lines:

If it came at the cost of the overall roaster then no but if it came at the cost of the retro-demos then yes.

I honestly don't have one for the Sonic one. I was shown it a few years back.

As for MGS: TS, it's in a ton of interviews.

All I want is Megaman X. Yeah, probably not going to happen but I still want it.

I'll join the "get rid of tripping" bandwagon. Better online would be great, but Brawl was... serviceable, given the Wii's limitations. But better online in the next Smash will more depend on how the WiiU handles online, rather than the game itself.

As for characters, I'll keep it to first-party, since a list of all the great candidates from every franchise would take too damn long:

Little Mac (We got him as an assist, but he deserves SO much more. Make him playable, dammit!)
Issac from Golden Sun (same as above)
Zoroark
Birdo
Miis (come on, how cool would it be to make a Mii of yourself, and then put it in Smash?)

Nono, they own partial rights to a Metal Gear TITLE. If Twin Snakes weren't on GC, the end of Brawl's trailer could've and would've never happened.

Ooh yes! Megaman X, Zero, Viewtiful Joe (I mean, that should be easy!), Leon Kennedy, Crono from Chrono Trigger, the killer7 (any of them, or switch between several like Pokemon Trainer), just so many options here...

Also I was thinking with Megaman his smash move could be using one of the boss power-ups for a short period of time, but because obviously throughout the whole series Megaman must've come across a bazillion powers, the power could be selected through a very quick menu of about six options, or something.

And as for the level editor, the brawl one sucked ASS and that is putting it very lightly, you could not do a thing with it.

And more stages from more games, thank you.

This. I would love to see Ranulf or some other Laguz; I think they they have a lot of potential for movesets. Also, remove tripping and fix balance issues.

Personally I prefer the more "casual friendly" approach of Brawl, but as a compromise, I'd have mechanics like tripping and Final Smashes be able to be flipped on an off, like Items can be. You could maybe also have similar flip switches for the more advanced techniques Melee fans wanted to be in Brawl. I have no idea if that's possible, by the way.

As for characters, I'd like to see some of the Final Fantasy/Chrono Trigger characters that originated on Nintendo consoles, if they could work out the licenses with Square. Characters like Frog and Sabin. Also, it might be cool to have an Advance Wars character (technically Second Party, I guess?).

Maybe they could have the ability to summon Advance Wars units for attacks? Like the Mech unit's Bazooka, a jump like Snake's where they grab onto a helicopter?, a dash where they jump into a recon truck? A Final Smash where they call in a Bomber? I dunno if it'd work potential animation and balance issues I suppose, but I think it'd be really cool to see.

Also, Ace Attorney assist characters. Nintendo could probably wrangle that from Capcom, unless there's some kind of contract issue thanks to Wright being in UMvC3.

Ooh! Sissel from Ghost Trick! He could uh...possess objects? That suddenly appear on the battlefield? He dashes by possessing a basketball on the floor, and his Dash attack is the ball jumping off the ground to hit people? Again, animation and balance issues might make it too difficult.

I do love those really atypical designs in fighting games where characters work in a unique way from the rest of the cast. Like Pokemon Trainer and Olimar & Pikmin. I'd like to see more things like that.

Another one for "no tripping". I dislike Final Smashes, as well, but at least I can turn those off if they're included.

There's something that I'd like to know: why do people consider Melee's physics to be better than Brawl's? I've played both games for years, and I far prefer the Brawl mechanics, apart from those stupid pratfalls.

More third-party characters would be nice, too.

EDIT: Another mode like Subspace Emissary. I would wait for years for another awesome thing like that, with a greater emphasis on new characters but with returning characters having major parts, as well.

Same mechanics (or at least familiar) as Melee's, use of Gamecube controller or hopefully something just as good, no fucking tripping, some of the strategies back like side-dodge and less focus on cinematics so everything else works perfectly (I just want the game play and design better this time). This would probably be enough for me to buy the WiiU.
The WiiU doesn't support Gamecube controllers, which makes me really worried for Smash Bros. I hate the PS/Classic Controller control stick layout with a passion.

Also I'll be happy as long as it's less floaty and you can actually combo again. Trying to hit someone more than once in Brawl was a liability more often than not.
Agree with the controllers. This will probably be the first Nintendo console I don't buy on release.

Also mentioned same mechanics similar to Melee's so we can combo well again. I still remember how torturesom it was slowly getting through the campaign because all I could do with most characters was just hit down the mobs once and couldn't follow through with anything after.

Axe tripping, better online multi play, not as obnoxious on the 'Adventure' (Subspace) Seriously, running around killing the same monsters in the same settings over 3 times is a bit...lazy. Cutscenes are nice but they were overused. I don't want that aspect chopped, I want it improved.

But for the love of god just GET RID OF TRIPPING. It serves no purpose than to give you no option to make the matches competitive because a trip will usually screw even the best players over.

Balance the Final Smashes, obviously.

And no more than 2 starfox members, 3 clones with varying weight are not necessary.

keep smash balls and support trophys those rock
but add a unlockable page that aloys you to edit who can appear

add zoroark, "jack" the harvest moon main character, knucklesor tails, and tom nook (he could attack with bags of bells and tools like the slingshot and shovel)

remove pit, pokemon trainer, wolf, and the ice climbers.. pit is annoying and the Pokemon trainer is weird when we also have pikachu and lucario running around with no trainer who gives a fuck about ice climbers and we don't need 2 clones of fox running and wolf's final smash has no logic where did he get a landmaster when slippy built it?

add a midna support trophy (she could hit/throw opponats with a giant hand or drop a bridge on them)
add a stage based on the kitchen floor from chibi robo you would have to avoid the dog and spiderlings

add shaymin using seed flare to the pokeball item
