Superdickery: the term used for when you see a panel or cover of a Superman cover and go '...?' When his actions can only be said as being dickish. And there are hundreds of examples! Websites devoted to them! You think the golden age and silver age superman would be cool, laid back and generally a good guy... but no.
My favourite example...

I understand this was printed as propoganda ut still, it almost beats the 'japanazis'...

EDIT: Post your fave ones!!

This was all propaganda, and people were a lot less racially sensitive than today. If Supes and Batdude HADN'T been promoting the war cause and/or WEREN'T unabashedly jingoistic, then they would have lost a lot of readers.

Not saying this was RIGHT, but it just goes to show how much our ethical standards have changed.

Well...ummm...heh. :D

Pretty much all of the older superhero comic books had some utterly ridiculous splash on the front to make you interested in buying it. "No way! Superman would never do that! I have to see what's going on!"

And then you find out that Lex Luthor found a mind-control device or something. Hijacked By Ganon, indeed.

and that we get real news from the war and it's a lot harder to hide stuff from the public.

Being aware of stuff makes us be a lot less eager to blindly demonize a whole people.

See Japanese Concentration camps in the US.

he he, I like mean superman much more than his `golden boy` persona.

I wish I had some examples of these, but this is the first time I have come across anything like it.

It is nice to see that the earlier comic writers had a wicked sense of humour

surprised it took this many people for that link to come up.

I personally love 'seduction of the innocent'
but that's because I am, at heart, a weirdo he sees all these things too.
