Demons. For most people, they are fairy tales, invented to make us brush our teeth and act like good little boys and girls.

That is false.

They have existed longer than we have, though we know so little about them. They come in many shapes in sizes, some sentient, some beast like.

Some good.

Most evil.

We've fought them for so long, yet we are making no progress. Armies have gathered and fallen to fight them. So we've taken to the shadows, killing in secret, holding guerrilla warfare when ever possible. They have beaten us there as well, and we've taken it to the people, inciting mobs, telling anyone who would listen to not trust the horned fucks. They were too entrenched in our government, and we lost there too.

We forged a peace with them, turning them against other beings. The dwarves were first, then the elves. Eventually, due to our ignorance, they defeated the angels.

We're on the menu again. But we're ready!

The church has rebuilt the Templars and the Iscariot, the government has formed sects. to fight the bastards, Mercenary companies are being formed with the fallen races, and the crackpots have taken to the internet, warning us of the war.

And then there's us.

We're a conglomerate, a mix of church, mercs, and military to combat our eternal antagonists. We have the best troops, weapons, and intel we've ever had as a race, and this is our last shot.
_______________________________________________________________________________________________

Welcome to the unofficial sequel (Don't worry new people, no need to search for it) to the DICE RP. Despite the OP, this'll be largely horror with some gung-ho action perhaps added in to lighten things up.

The world will be modern day, with Tolkein ripoffs walking around and magic.

The new organization is SLICE, though the name is simply to avoid copywrite. It'll have multiple divisions, each specialized for a specific way to ruin a demons day (don't worry, they deserve it.)

D1- The bosses, field intel, etc.
D2- The brunt main fighting force. Think National Guard.
D3- Spec ops and generally more specialized fighters.
D4- The scientific community, battling demons with science!
D5- The guys who get intel, otherwise known as those who win wars.
D6- The magic users.

Demons and humans have about as much animosity as you'd think. Demons have waged war on us three times, an unheard of feat for other races. Our first war was unrecorded, but we survived, and got fire out of the deal, as well as other things such as language and math. The second was the times of the Romans, Caesar under Abaddons influence, managed to conquer much of the world, and the third was WWI, where they briefly led the triple entante in an attempt to wipe us out. They got back under human control around the end, and they took to the shadows once more, turning man against man. The war truly ended around the same time as WWII.

Iscariot- The churches magic section, previously headed by angels now led by humans. They don't agree, but don't have the numbers too argue. They specialize in magic, in all of its uses, warfare or otherwise.

Templars- The strong arm of church, despite numerous attempts to secede. They make up the brunt of the forces who fight the demons, and are usually regarded as the experts, despite a slow bureaucratic system. Their relations with the Templars of old is in name only, the Church simply agreed it had a great brand name.

Government- Several sects were made and fallen, so it's just easier to call them government or big brother. Not specialists, but have more troops and gear than the templars. Although they are called the government, it's really more of a UN thing, in that it's the UN.

Angels- The first magical beings, as they like to remind us all. They are pale of skin, but not quite albino, and their eyes are usually pale blue. They seem to glow often.

All are taught to believe in a strict honor system, which ultimately lead to their downfall.

Demons- The strongest magical beings, as they are quick to remind everyone. Their true shape appears to be a void of deep ebony, using you mind to look like a silhouette of the race which gazes upon them. They can shape-shift at will.

Elves- Powerful, prideful, but not as skilled as the angels which they revere. Their ears are pointed, and they have tanned complexions.

Dwarfs- Short, stocky, and reptilian, they are called dwarfs because they most resemble Tolkeins vision. They take to booze and are the least powerful magically, and are the rarest to have them. Despite their near worship of the demons, they were turned on by them. This has left them shocked, and many have even turned up on the surface. They seem to have only one gender, and reproduction remains a mystery.

Humans- The only non-immortal race, they are also frequently mutated to have odd powers, such as lycanthropy and vampirism. Magic is a rare trait, but those who have them tend to be powerful.

Crossbreeds- Crossbreeds to exist, love knows no bounds after all. This usually leads to birth defects, which can usually be described as horrific. Dwarves are the only race that crossbreeds don't exist for. Most crossbreeds are wholly mortal.

- The simple no Mary Sues, trenchcoaters or anything else that makes you a dickish RPer.
- GM word is the law, but I'm not a dictator, players can talk me out of things fairly easily.
- No micro posting.

I've thought a lot about this actually, and I think I'll go default with write well and it's more likely to happen. I'll be using dice though, so even if I agree, misfires CAN happen.

Name: I'll give you 3 guesses.

Gender: Male, female, inbetween, or none at all.

Division: How you will help the war effort.

Appearance: What you look like, be specific and include eyes, face, hair, and usual attire.

Gear/Powers: Weapons and such.

Personality: How much you flip out at the sight of demons.

Bio: Your life story, be specific again, this is the most important one!

To add on to Ivingname's Question, if Guns, opinion on having a M500 Magnum Revolver that fires Elemental Effect Rounds? (Fire, Ice, Acid, Blast, ETC.)

Also, might want to add a Gear section onto the sheets.

What is the tech level we dealing with? Swords and crossbows or guns and computers?
Modern day, but having a back up is generally a good idea.

I probably should.

Magic could probably do it, but science hasn't. I guess we have dragonsbreath though.

As I recall there was at least one character in DICE that had the power to infuse ammo with magic, and given that this is basically a spiritual successor it seems like it'd be fine to me.

While that would work, I was kinda hoping to be a Normal Human with guns... :/

Maybe they're enchanted then? DICE was sort of a fantasy kitchen sink so I'm sure there's plenty of stuff you could work in.

Eh, just prefer if I could get more of a "Crazy Prepared" character rather then just use magic for everything.

When I mentioned dragons breath, I meant the type of ammo. Science has developed fire bullets. Look it up, it's real!

I know, I just liked the idea of being able to (Without magic stuff) shoot rounds with those effects, like in Resident Evil 5.

So, what's the problem? It exists.

I played in the original DICE thread for a while... and then dropped out. But I kinda want to try again, preferably with a better character. I didn't like my first one very much. So if I wanna do better than that, I'm gonna need a little time. Can I get a reserve?

Most excellent. I'll try not to storm off this time. :p

So no half-angels, then? If the angels are all gone?

So, I'm a bit confused bout one thing. Where would characters that rely on magic/powers belong? And where would we write about them on the sheet?

Magic belong in D2 or D3, they have a special ability but are standard soldiers.

Put it under gear.

Well hopefully not all gone, I'm sure there are some hiding away or retreated that you could use. Or just make up, I remember people added to DICE lore through their characters fairly often. Were it up to me I'd have had the angels retreated back to the heavens, watching the conflict from on high rather than all dead, seeing as angels ought to be faaaaaaaaaaaaaaaar more powerful than demons.

Half angels and angels are allowed. Dwarves and Elves as well. They got screwed over, massively, but are around on the endangered species list.
