You mean to tell me that a popular product's fan-base is increasing? Who could have seen this coming?!?!

There is no point fighting it. Everyone you know will be playing MW3 so you will buy it and go to socialise. Its one of those things. Enjoy it, I will.

I wonder what it would be like if they DID buy the sun...
Dark most of the time, or too bright, would start squeaking at you and would eventually be replaced with an inferior sun in a years time

Well, I didn't see this coming. /sarcasm

Now that I think about it, Call of Duty is like an internet cat. It starts out with a few people liking it then MILLIONS of others end up liking it, too.

You will then have more views than you can count by the time you upload.

That was a pretty bad metaphor...

I have to admit, while I despise them for milking it so much they've done a damned good job of rinsing the idiots out. Map packs total much more than I pay for my games now and offer very little content (the latest is the worst, one new map and 4 old ones which were free with the ridiculously expensive prestige edition (iirc) that means they're nabbing a nifty 12 quid for making a single map. Per person.)

I just want BF3 to win this fight, maybe it'll encourage them to DO something with the damn franchise, the games have only moved backwards with minute changes being seen that are beneficial and those normally changes I'd expect to see in some patch or other.

Pathetic.

not to defend them but you dont NEED to buy the maps, they are not forcing you, also if you really feel you want them just wait because there are a lot of cool promotions and offer like 50% off or all maps for a fixed price (i got all of the WAW maps together for a single price because i wanted the zombie maps)

But in all seriousness, cool? I didn't buy it but I played it, not as good as MW2 but its still CoD... Paying for the same thing (minor changes) over and over.

Well I am not buying another CoD after they failed to impress me after I skipped MW2 for no dedicated servers. I don't know about BF3 either I will have to see how their server list works out but to be honest this just seems like more violent shovel ware given how little the games seem to have changed for the good.

My only complaint about the cod series is that they just milk their consumers each version of cod is basically the same thing and MW3 will be off the same engine they have been using since mw2. each version of cod is basically a 60$ map pack with new perks! and 15$ per map pack !? really i remember back when the community made new maps and they were free but that's another story.

im supporting the battlefield series because they at least chose to not pump a game out ever November and really are pushing the bar with the new engine frostbite 2 looks beautiful.

I remember loving Activision games back on my Atari...

With the exception of paying for Blizzard product (another watered-down franchise producer), I can't think of anything recent that Activision has released that has interested me.
I'd like to think that they might funnel some of that CoD cash toward another genre of games eventually. =/

Forgive me for feeling at least a little depressed.

As I am not even a first person shooter fan and many games I love did horribly.

got my self BO bc i had a voucher card which was only for this game store. wanted to keep it for brotherhood (PC) but unfortunately they postpone it again to a date were i already moved away.
no other game was in my interest so i got my self BO. had more or less a good time but got bored later, plus i think the game hated me or some plot was against me, then every one seemed to know where i was and people dint die when i knifed them. and much more.
later when the map pack came out, i just deleted it and will not touch it anymore.
damn you ubisoft for releasing the pc version of brotherhood much later. i could have used that voucher card for it and give BO a miss.

im not surprised at all that this game sells well. once MW3 is out, the sales will be for sure higher then BO. well, if people are willing to spend more money on really expensive map packs, fine by me.
at least for mass effect 2 i dint regret to buy the DLCs. they are fun and well made and you got something out of it for the entire game like kasumi and zaeed. or you can chase the shadow broker with liara which was really awesome (still my favorite DLC from this game).

i stick with team fortress 2. this at least is tones more fun and you get more cooperation from other players then in COD.

MW2 oddly still has better numbers playing on steam, despite it being the inferior game, especially on PC.
I wouldn't say it's inferior, just that its balance is broken as hell. And sometimes, that's all people want.

Why the hell are people still buying CoD games? It's just like the Madden games. The only thing it's doing is improving the graphics and possibly adding a new gun that is as affective as every other gun in the game. Just as the Madden series is a roster update CoD is just a chest high wall update. WHY DO PEOPLE KEEP BUYING IT !?!?! (Bring on the hate-filled comments CoD fanboys)

Also, why does every one thing Black Ops should be a PS3 "Greatest hits"? Sure a ton of people bought it, but that does not qualify it as a greatest hits. Demon's Souls, Infamous, those are games that deserve it. They have tons of sales, good reviews and they don't rely on multiplayer, and a ranking system, (Arguable with Infamous's alignment system) and they are F***ing original games. Not Call of Duty: Modern WARFARE 29: Russian Murder simulation.

Mostly referring (Yes partly) to the imbalance, lack of FoV, console, lack of server browser. I really genuinely do regard deliberately imbalanced games to be inferior to ones that try to keep balance and offer you plenty of choices.

In before inevitable "Call of Duty sucks, Battlefield 3 will be better (Or vice versa)" comments (God you people are annoying), but I still think 15$ per map pack is ridiculous no matter how you slice it. I thought people would actually not buy them and not let Activision get their way, but I guess I was wrong.
You are foolishly assuming more than a small minority of gamers have self control.
