Unexpected as I said in the other thread, good on them.

As long as you make sure to know your place and grovel before the Glorious God Gamers first. So kneel peasant.

I hope They put the legacy titles on steam too. Old games are basically free money. Steam needs more legacy titles.

I'd even accept GOG. Too many PC games from the pre-digital era are being lost to time because they don't want to sell on digital distribution, and it'd be nice to not go to ebay to get them on an outdated form of media.
hell the HD collection already exists

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Metal_Gear_Solid_HD_Collection

porting this and then slaping in MGS1 on top (which was released on PC) would be a complete no brainer and im 100% konami would make a ton of money out of it, i know i would fucking buy it day one

playing MGS3: Subsistence again would be so amazing

How else might the peasants know of our greatness.... I for one am feeling quite smug about one less reason for me to have to buy a console now. Only thing left is destiny.

As a fan of sony I am proud of the ps4's performance I must say.

I knew my decision to not give in and buy a PS4 would pay off eventually! Thank you Hideo Kojima! Now if you can just port over MGS3 and Peace Walker to the PC too...

After a decade, Solid Snake returns to the PC.
I was about to mouth off about this statement, but even though Big Boss is MGSV's main protagonist it is actually very likely that Solid Snake may infact be in The Phantom Pain in some context (EG: why David Hayter isn't playing BB theoretically) so that could turn out to be technically accurate.

OT: This is great news! Having the PC market in there in addition to both console generations will both help expand the audience, and give PC gamers a chance to see why hardcore fans like me obsess about this series so much.

I just hope the PC crowd doesn't get all dickish and elitist about them having " the only real version," or some other exclusionary nonsense, they've been getting especially bad about that recently.

Well that's one less reason for me to buy a PS4 now, not that I'm complaining about that though, this is great.
I also agree with everyone that it would be great if the HD collection made it's way to PC as well.

My first reason for getting a PS3 was for MGS4. Now I don't even have to bat an eye for Ps4. Ty Kojima!

Way too late about the PC gamers being dickish part, there's already another article on PC gamer salivating it as some sort of victory over consoles and publishers, basically anyone not having anything on PC.

Seeing the comments section in there is akin to being on IGN, it's filled with nothing but big ego's and massive hatred for consoles, and it fits the bill with Dualshockers article on the platform wars and fanboyism being tribal in general.

http://www.pcgamer.com/2014/08/14/pc-gamers-have-to-fight-for-pc-gaming-and-metal-gear-solid-v-is-a-big-win/

It's good that both titles are going to PC but I don't feel the ened to stroke my ego about it nor rub it in gamers not of the PC realm, it doesn't do anyone any good doing that kind of petty crap and only pisses people off in general.

Yes, because it's one of the best stealth franchises out there?

I think PC version will fail: console crowd will buy it on consoles, PC crowd will not care at all. All hail exclusives!
The reason Japanese publishers are releasing games on PC is because PC versions of popular console exclusives tend to sell well. Frankly, I was glad that the PC got Dark Souls and Metal Gear Rising, and now I'm glad it's getting a major MGS installment. Who complains about getting more games on your platform?

Hopefully, it'll be less disappointing than the Deus Ex JC Denton Nude Patch [http://www.rockpapershotgun.com/2007/12/05/to-whoevers-googling-for-jc-denton-nude-patch/].

Where from would I know that? Or should I believe exalted screams? I prefer not to. And what if this game is Sacred 3 of its franchise? No, thank you, sir, I'll pass this one.

Now you are being wilfully silly, but I'll humor you.

And what if this game is Sacred 3 of its franchise?
Who's asking you to buy it without checking the reviews?

Not just in the west. Apparently, PC gaming is growing in Japan as well. That might have something to do with this decision too.

Pretty sure exclusivity is blocking MGS4 as it was not in the legacy collection for Xbox. They cited space reasons for its exclusion but its hard to take that seriously.

That was actually true. Space issues existed because of uncompressed audio they used. They could release the collection on Xbox One if they deem that move worthy of their time. I really hope that we'll eventually get the entire MGS collection for PC. I would like to replay all of the older MGS games. MGS4 could be distributed digitally, so space issues shouldn't be a problem on the PC nowadays. In the end it all comes down to the money, Lebowski. If they don't think they'll make any, we won't get it.

So what, should we all be happy for that? I'm, for example, a pure PC player, and I didn't play any of Metal Gear games. I know there was one or two on PC, but why would I care? There were at least 4 more! I don't know shit about characters, story or setting. I think PC version will fail: console crowd will buy it on consoles, PC crowd will not care at all. All hail exclusives!
To understand why a move to PC would be successful, you have to understand the Metal Gear fanbase. A HUGE majority of the fanbase has always wanted a PC version of the game, and now we've got it. A lot of fans of the Metal Gear series, and I believe Kojima himself as well, have always thought that Metal Gear was a little... held back by hardware limitations, especially when it came to MGS4. Fox Engine is probably scales WAAAY back for PS4, and even more so for XB1 so this PC release is Kojima's way of showing not just a beautiful game, but giving the Fox Engine a platform on which its limits can really be tested. Max graphics on this game is going to look amazing.

And don't forget, Revengance is already on PC, and the point of Revengance was to provide fallback income for Kojima to point to if shit really hits the fan and MGSV takes a huge hit due to all the controversy it could generate (Don't forget all the controversy that ONE CHARACTER stirred, not to mention that we haven't even gotten to the scene where Big Boss appears to murder a bunch of children in a jail cell. And we haven't even gotten to the child soldiers yet. Oh, and there's also all the controversy GZ drilled up, which I'm not going to get into.). And Revengance was a huge success on PC, and that's a game where you REALLY aren't going to know anything if you're a PC gamer and you've never played the Metal Gear series before - at least Snake was in one or two games on PC a long time ago. Revengance didn't fail, in fact, it largely succeeded on PC and almost matched the console versions in sales. Now take something like the main MGS series that PC gamers have wanted a crack at since forever, and you've got a recipe for success.
