Ever not think about a thing, then just happen upon it, and suddenly its everywhere? Today I decided to see how many Final Fantasy games were on Steam since I have been playing FF7, and saw that 10 happened to be coming out in about 2 days. Now I see people talking about this everywhere.

since they now have officially ported 10/10-2, I can't imagine them not porting 12, as they've probably seen porting it to the pc prints money, and they apparently are learning to like money.Saelune said:
I've played most of 1,and it is very...rough. to be honest. it plays like a gba/nes rpg that is very basic. fun to play on your smartphone between classes or whatever, but otherwise I wouldn't recommend it.Saelune said:
Yes and it has that beautiful early-gaming era randomness of monsters that should hit you for like, 2, sometimes hitting you for 20+ without it being a critical hit or anything.gmaverick019 said:

I'm kind of surprised they haven't really, since there are good GBA ports for both games out already, upgraded to SNES graphics and with some gameplay refinements(which some purists no doubt feel are "dumbing down", such attack redirects upon monster death). Not to mention the remake of FFII went some way(but not all) towards fixing the crappy leveling system and adding an in game map(which was really needed, otherwise you're told to go places but not told in which direction they are, only to realize you've gone the wrong way when you run into monster who curbstomp you instantly).Saelune said:
II is mostly worth playing because it introduces a bunch of series mainstays, like Chocbos, Cid(Master of Airships), the Ultima spell, and Dragoons(the remake has an injoke where the Last Dragoon, Richard Highwind, has a son named Kain. In FFIV, Kain mentions his father Richard).
It seems that Square wont release a pre-FF7 remake on Steam unless it can be ported from an Android version of the game that either doesn't work on PC, has poor performance on PC, is riddled with control issues, has downgraded the graphics, or all of the above. So if the I and II ports are as good as you say, then I really do doubt they'll be ported any time soon.Dalisclock said:

Eh, I've already got it on PS3. Though this has to mean that FFXII's remaster can't be far ahead. I think the UI of that game would have been much smoother on PC.
It should play like a nes rpg. It WAS a nes rpg. It was like the second one we got in the US behind Dragon Warrior. It really only enjoyed niche success, but without the success it had I doubt any more Final Fantasy games would have left Japan. 2 and 3 don't do much more than add different characters and a new map and story.gmaverick019 said:

Give 3 a little more credit. It also introduced the first job system in the series(and a bunch of the job classes, such as summoner, blue mage) and was the first game with multiple world maps. Though it also had one of the most brutal Endgame sequences as well(in a game without in-dungeon save points).Kyrian007 said:

Is all good. I'm happy that they're putting the titles on PC (slowly but surely) and would love for the entire series to be there. I've almost got the whole thing except for Lightning Returns, V, VI and IX. Just waiting for sales to pick those up, and of course X/X2.
