With the great success of Dead space and my personal enjoyment of Silent Hill: Homecoming it got me thinking about the genera in general. I'm curious what your fav. games in the genera are

My top 5:

1. Dead Space
2. The Suffering
3. Resident Evil 2
4. Silent Hill 2
5. System Shock

Has anyone played Siren: Blood Curse? Is it worth it? I was thinking of buying it off the ps3 network...

Eternal Darkness

Edit: some parts of Condemned 2, especially when you're running around in the middle or riot.

Damn my inability to find a version of System Shock compatible with Windows XP!

STALKER: Shadow of Chernobyl (it has SH sections!)

I chose that because it's really the only SH game I've played. I would really like to try SS 1 and 2, as well as Silent Hill 1 and 2. Mostly 2, though.

I still haven't been able to get SS2 to work for XP, even though I've been told that it should.

yeah dead space is seriously good survival horror, doom 3 was a good for scaring the crap out of you

tho i will say eternal darkness was one of the best i played too

the original resident evil was pretty good tho had some great cheesy moments to it, such as Barry running thru a smoking husk of a giant snake asking if there was something strange going on

To get System Shock 2 working with XP, go to Good old Games. They can hook you up.

1. Silent Hill
2. Silent Hill 2
3. Doom 3
4. Fatal Frame II
5. Siren.

those are my top five. I've never found Resident Evil games, with the exception of Nemesis, to be at all scary. Condemned..please people, if you think Condemned 1 or 2 is scary in any way shape or form, do yourself a favour: never play fatal Frame II. You'll shit your pants.

I got SS2 working in XP pretty easily. Just go to the TTLG forums [http://www.ttlg.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=78] and they have some good guides. I couldn't get SS1 working on XP, but I did get it working on DOS-box. Though, I haven't played through SS1 yet; I just can't get used to the controls.

How are they going to hook me up? Neither of the System Shock games are in their catalog yet.

Horrer can't exist in a video game for I'm not afraid of dying and thus making whatever thing thats chasing me a mere simple Goomba on roids and might be undead. However some "horror" games have made me go that's an "intresting" twist. To name my favorite Bioshock isnt horror because you has weapons and are trapped in room with evil baddies but just mindwarps you a bit and makes you think how crazed the game is. I'm looking at getting Dead Space once I has moneys again which doesnt look for a long time. Damn you Mirror's Edge and Gears 2.

More likely it doesn't exist because it's not a word.

Silent Hill 2 wins.
