actually, people in NY have also gotten it, it's popping up all over the country, but so far, no-ones died yet from it in the USA
That's because those kids in NY were in Mexico though, weren't they?

There were about 20 reported cases in the U.S. Now I don't tend to know a lot about Swine Flu, but how does only twenty reported cases constitute as an outbreak? If it was 200, yes, I would be willing to say "outbreak", but 20 barely counts as a couple of cases. What, if it's 25 it's an epidemic?

Nothing's going to happen, the media is just using it's fucking scare tactics to make people tune in.

Two people in Scotland are in hospital with minor flu symptoms. We're all going to die!

Swine flu sound funny. Well i'm quite safe in Estonia, from the flu at least. It's much more likely that Russia will invade or something.

This, heh. There is a danger of this turning nasty, but we have to wait and see how the disease fights modern medicine. Here's New Scientist's info for your education: http://www.newscientist.com/article/dn17026-swine-flu-what-you-need-to-know.html?DCMP=OTC-rss&nsref=online-news

A new flu virus suspected of killing at least 60 people in Mexico has the potential to become a pandemic, the World Health Organization's chief says.

Margaret Chan said the outbreak was a "serious situation" which needed to be followed closely.

Health experts say tests so far seem to link the illnesses in Mexico with a swine flu virus in the southern US.

A top US health official said the strain of swine flu had spread widely and could not be contained.

Ms Chan cut short a visit to the US and returned to Geneva where the WHO's emergency committee met.
It is time for all hypocondriacs like myself to unite, and spend a few weeks hiding in our bedrooms with pillow-cases over our heads while detergent is continually sprayed over our food. Anyone else heard anything about this flu out-break?
I've heard about it, but I didn't realise it was fatal to humans....perhaps the end is nigh?

It doesn't sound THAT bad. Come on, only 20 confirmed cases in the US and it gets pandemic status? Sounds overblown, if you ask me.

The only reason the media is freaking out about it is because of the deaths in Mexico when in the U.S. the first cases that were found were treated. The reason people died in Mexico is because nobody can afford to go to the hospital. And for you hypocondriacs, the virus will probly just mutate into a harmless form just like spainish influenza did.
