Just saw on news:

141 dead in Mexico

In Australia:
5 testing in NSW
2 testing in QLD

Shit shit shit!
Of the 141 dead, however, only 18 have been confirmed through lab testing as having died of Swine Flu. That is something that most news stories conveniently leave out.

It's stuff like this that makes me glad to work from home. I'll add it to the list of things to avoid by staying inside:

Swine flu
Gas prices
Extreme heat/cold
Human contact
Daylight
Exercise

More info.

More deaths, and it is now confirmed to be spreading from person to person. Just reading this crap is giving me a sore throat. Anyone got a trip to Mexico planned or anyone live in Mexico who can give us any info on this?
I just made a thread based on this. Mexican perspective. Three people from my state just bit the dust a little while back.
Hey my roomie is visiting family down in Obregon, Sonora. are there any breakouts there?

Fukuda said today that two of the virus's eight genetic elements appear to originate in a swine influenza strain common in Europe and Asia, whereas the remainder are typical of American swine flu strains. That information seemed at odds with a statement from CDC, which said on Thursday that the new swine flu strain contained genetic elements from human and avian influenza strains as well. During today's press conference, Anne Schuchat, interim deputy director for science and public health at CDC, declined to answer a question about the virus's genetic makeup.

ummm sounds like someone MADE this one .. as in OOPS got out of the lab somehow type shit

I don't think it is going to be a Epic Human Extinction Causing Pandemic.

My mother is freaking out about it. Like she did with Bird flu . . . and SARS. . . More so than before because it is in the country we live in.

I hear Australia is fine because, although we don't have a cure we have some kind of treatment for it in ample supply.

I'd imagine it'd be the same for other countries, so I don't think it will be all the media is hyping it up to be.

lol you dont live anywhere near mexico, calm the hell down. Remember how panicked everyone got about SARS only for a few weeks to pass by and no one but the asians still cared? I live 3 hours from mexico and im not taking it that seriously.
USA on full alert, UK on full alert.

Meh, it's just another BSE, CJD, SARS, Rabies, HN51. We must show the world how nasty it is outside!

Fair enough. I await to see the results of the Australian tests. I hope we're safe over here :S

All of these worries are wasted...remember when everybody was complaining about Bird Flu or whatever the true medical term for that was. We should forget about flu protection and start defending ourselves from space-rabbits.

That's right...you know they're watching.

Hey am I the first person to realize that Swine Flu = Swine Flew = Pigs Flying?

Holy crap it's finally happening!
