This shit is getting old. It may just be me but has anyone else noticed that every six months there is some new pandemic like disease that threatens to kill us all? It might be dangerous but I doubt that it will become an epidemic.

actually it's ironic that my spouse and I both are fighting a nasty flu like thing, going on 70+ hours now, chills that don't end... and we joked about it being swine flu...

yesterday Delta airlines called and stated that several flights out of California, to Nevada/Utah may have been contaminated flights, and we should go to the doctors should any flu symptoms come up...

we were in Las Vegas and got back last Tuesday...which is a decent incubation period, and time for the ignorable symptoms to kick in...

needless to say we are going to the doctors, but I highly highly doubt it's anything more than than an average flu one may get from going to a large, and dirty city like Vegas....

The reason the government is freaking out is because last time we had a flu scare 50 million people died.

Don't forget history folks, or it'll happen again.
Perversely since it's the apparently the same H1N1 strain of flu, most of the world should have elements of the population with antibodies against it from the 1918 outbreak...

I like hysteria though so....WE'RE ALL GOING TO DIE FROM BIRD SWINE FLU!!

So...more paranoia now. The government said classes (as in school) have been stopped nationwide but apparently this thing does not include yet to laboral activities.

The World Health Organization (Orgabizacion Mundial de la Salud) has raised Mexico's level from 3 to 4, from six. The level refers to a risk of pandemic, from what I understand.

Oh, and apparently there's 20 more registered cases in NY(sorry New York), apparently in students from Queens College.

Fun fact: An epidemic is a disease that propagates for a period of time across a country, affecting a large number of people, and according to the UN, a pandemic is a disease of that same magnitude that affects more than one country, apparently.

Hey my roomie is visiting family down in Obregon, Sonora. are there any breakouts there?
I'm not sure. What I can say about Sonora is that there have been 3 accounted deaths in the state as of yesterday. And I'd be wary of using the word breakout as of now.

What I want to stress is that I don't think there is motive for an alarm of this scale yet. While the government is acting all weird and shit, and now even the cnema theaters are getting into it, and a big chain of cinemas in the capital isn't even showing movies now. The horror, I know.

So, yeah, things are getting a wee bit on the paranoid side over here.

I'll keep ya guys posted straight from the horse's mouth if more strange stuff happens. This may not be our beloved zombie apocalypse, but I figure this is the closest I'll ever get to one.

Bummer, I know.

I was sick yesterday. My brother kept annoying me by saying I had the swine flu. I'll be really pissed If I do end up catching it.

From what I hear a group of boarding school students brought back the virus with them to New York City after vacationing in Mexico. My town's on high alert since were less than an hour outside of the city. On a lighter note my school may be closed down because of it for the rest of my senior year.

Stops where it started within a week. Turns out Media threw it all out of proportion and you are all idiots for believing this crap, it all Avian Flu all over again, OR PETA will be the death of us all.....as shown by many zombie movies. The only way to save Humanity is to kill off animal rights activists and sacrifice a mighty pile of our finest rams in a sacrificial burning pyre to the sun god! May Huitzilopochtli smil upon us and our invasion of Mexico to regain the glory of the Aztec Empire! But, after the Ram sacrifices, we must turn to the conquered Mexicans! We must rebuild The Great Pyramid of Tenochtitlan to pull out their hearts! The sun god must be appeased for when He goes away to battle the forces of darkness, lest the Jaguars, and the Great Winds, and the Volcanoes, and the Floods come back and kill us all!
DEATH FOR HUITZILOPOCHTLI!!!!!!!!

Yeah... considering that in my very short memory I can remember "experts" claiming that ebola, sars or bird flu were going to take out half the planet and yet fucking nothing happened for any of them. So surprisingly I am not bothered by it.
Dude, Ebola only didn't kill the planet cause it killed people TOO fast.

In my opinion this thing is going to get bad, maybe not in the developed world but in countrys with poor health care or where people live in close quarters ( India, africa) there will be bodys in the streets it'll be that bed.
