Despite actually liking Kotor a fair bit, I don't much like the whole crazy kung-fu stuff that seems to have completely pervaded Star Wars. When I was a kid watching the originals, I had this idealized version of Jedi as sorts the Shaolin Monks of fantasy in some ways, this extremely peaceful order that lived and died trying to achieve perfection and make the world a better place. Combat and their supposed excellence at it was less about actual fighting and more about achieving that idealized perfection, and as Yoda said, the force was never used as a weapon. That made the very rare occasions that a lightsaber was ever brought out a genuinely thrilling moment and the force more of a subtle, imperceptible presence.

With fights in the original movies the choreography was often pretty bad, lets be honest here, but they gave the impression there was a lot more going on that the viewer didn't see. That these were fights of will and that the lightsabers themselves were just a visual token of that.

Now they're essentially just wizard sci-fi cops that use their powers to go crazy jumps and hadouken baddies. I don't get that same vibe I got from the original movies anymore, which is sad.

Still, neat trailer. They really pulled out every conceivable SW cliche possible for it as well. I'm just a cranky grognard it seems, old and bitter before my time.
